Chapter 59: Request
Miss Sally was strict, despite her angelic smile. If you make a mistake,
“Oh, dear, do you believe you can serve as His Majesty’s Queen with anything like that?”
At the same time as I’m being ridiculed, a whip comes flying. A whip. It’s not a metaphor. It’s a real whip. I know it’s under control, but the whip itself frightens me as a modern woman.
And I thought I was simply inquiring about Crystalia’s traditions, but there is so much to learn about the nations’ histories, languages, and so on. This stack of books represented a wealth of information that I would need to gain from now on. I pondered whether I could do it in another year or if I would be in danger of being killed if I didn’t.

I groan as I complete today’s lecture. Sarah gives me a worried look as I touch my whipped spot.
“Mika-sama, I’ll have you patched up in no time.”
“Thank you.”
Sarah lost her cool while treating me.
“I can’t believe Miss Sally is Mika-sama’s educator…”
“What about Miss Sally?”
Yulin seemed bitter. I’m curious if Miss Sally is known for anything besides her strictness.
When I asked, Sarah seemed surprised. She didn’t intend for me to hear what she was saying. But now that I’d heard it, she realized she couldn’t hide it any longer, so she explained why.
“Miss Sally is the woman who is supposed to be His Majesty’s consort.”
Sarah went on to say that if it hadn’t been for the war, she would have been.
the Demon King informed me that it was normal in Crystallia to pick a consort at the age of 16, but before the Demon King’s consort was chosen, the war in Astoria broke out, making the situation uncertain.
No wonder Miss Sally felt there was no one more suited to be in charge of my education than her. However, if I were Miss Sally, I would be a bit, if not a lot, angry about losing my position to a mysterious girl from another world who called herself Shrine Maiden. But Miss Sally, although she was strict, didn’t show any such attitude.
the Demon King entered my chamber while I was still thinking about it.
“Mica, Yulin told me. Miss Sally is your new educator is… Are you all right?”
“Miss Sally is strict, but she’s teaching me what I lack… You have nothing to worry about, O’Dowell-sama.”
the Demon King sighs with relief as I smile.
“Miss Sally is a wonderful, though misunderstood, lady. I’m glad to hear it.”
She was the planned consort of the Demon King. I agree she’s a wonderful lady, but it’s somehow not very amusing to hear the Demon King speak so highly of another woman… Miss Sally would whip me again if she found out what I was thinking.”
“You’re not tired of being my fiancée, are you?”
“Of course not!”
Sure, there’s a lot to remember, but that’s to be expected when you’re the Demon King’s bride. That’s not all; I’m upset that the Demon King would think such a thing. I didn’t make the decision to leave my world lightly.
“I’m marrying O’Dowell-sama because I love him, and I’m not going to let anything stop me.”
“Y-Yes… I’m sorry about that.”
the Demon King’s ears had become bright crimson. Thinking about it, this is the first time I’ve stated unequivocally that I love the Demon King. When I realize this, I also blush.
Sarah clears her throat as we both feel embarrassed.
“Your Majesty, with all due respect—I’m afraid you’ve still at the point of engagement. I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to go to Mika-sama’s room late at night.”
“…Right. Good night, Mika. Sweet dreams.”
the Demon King then kissed my forehead and walked away.
“…”
I know he’s my fiancé, and the kiss on the forehead is just a greeting, but my body temperature rises, and I slump to the floor.
And when we marry, we’ll do even more incredible things. Can I really be the Demon King’s wife in a year?
