Chapter 63: First Night
I was thrown into the bathtub after the wedding. I was cleansed and perfumed all over; my hair was tied up; I was clothed in a thin negligee; and I was thrown into the bedroom.
“…. Hmm.”
That is, after all, what getting married is all about. We had just had our first kiss. It feels too soon, but I’m an adult in this world, so it may not be too soon.
This bedroom should be linked to the Demon King’s and my private rooms. It’s only normal that we share a bedroom now that we’re married and a couple. But I can’t seem to make up my mind. I’m still a bit afraid. The second door opened as I groaned.
It had to be The Demon King. When he saw me, he blushed up to his ears.
After fidgeting around for a while, the Demon King suddenly muttered.
“Your fair skin makes the mark stand out.”
The mark referred to by the Demon King must be the black pattern that develops on your neck when you marry. The pattern that emerged on the Demon King had to have appeared on me as well.
“…You have officially become my wife.
The Demon King’s voice, contrary to his statements, was lonely.
“Yes. I’ll be with O’Dowell-sama forever.”
I take the Demon King’s hand in mine and press it to my face. I felt protected as the warmth of our bodies intertwined. The Demon King’s significantly lower body temperature put me at ease, as I anticipated.
I raise my gaze to the Demon King. His red eyes are intense.
“I’ve taken so much from you, Mica.”
“I’m not feeling deprived—it was my choice.”
I was not forced to do this by the Demon King. I chose this world and the Demon King—that is the one thing you must not get wrong. This is my choice.
The Demon King said.
“You are strong.”
He laughed. But, in my opinion, the Demon King is much stronger.
“May I touch you?”
I nodded, and his hand traced the curves of my cheek as though to prove my existence. And then he just holds me in his arms.
If I close my eyes and listen, I can hear the beating of The Demon King’s heart. It’s beating the same rhythm as mine, and it’s soothing to my ears. It’s the sound of life. The Demon King is alive. And so am I.
I stopped listening to the beat of The Demon King’s heart and glanced at him as we relaxed.
It was silent, as if the world had disconnected us both.
I am the lone reflection in those crimson eyes. It felt so amazing that my fear was gone before I realized it.
“Are you scared?”
“No,” I bowed my head, and The Demon King became more flustered. Maybe a bit, but definitely not.
──Because I love you.
The Demon King gulped, his eyes widening.
“I love you too.”
Yes. He’s the only one here, and I’m the only one here. There is nothing to be afraid of.
When you realize that, it makes you feel foolish for being afraid right now.
I slowly close my eyes and allow the current to carry me away.
I wasn’t afraid any longer.
