Volume 3.5 Chapter 49: Because I Have To
"Stop sniffing like that," Sohma shook his head at Cadmus.
"But I can smell something good,"
"It will take a second," Keith chuckled. Like that, they headed to the garden. And what everyone saw was a spread of food! There were so many different types of food there!
"Woah! There's so much food!" Carolyn and the rest marveled. She recognized some of the food. While there were some that she didn't recognize.
"I made a lot," Keith rubbed his nose. He was proud of this.
"Let's dig in!" Cadmus didn't hesitate as he dashed over to the meat section! He was excited about this!
"Seriously," Sohma shook his head as he followed him soon after. He was excited about the food as well. All of it looked incredibly delicious.
"So delicious!"
"Huh?" Tristan turned around and saw Carolyn already at the table. When did you move? He swore her sister was beside him!
Keith laughed when he saw that. Like that, everyone started to feast.
"Do the two of you like it?" Keith asked Sarah and Jack.
Sarah nodded, "It's really delicious!"
"Mmhmm," Jack nodded.
That was it. But it was enough for Keith.
"What kind of meat is this, Keith?!" Maria questioned Keith. She had never eaten such meat before. Much less so with this food! No wonder those two acted like this. She turned to Carolyn and Tristan, who acted crazy.
"Oh. That's from a variant of a rush bull," Keith stated. He grilled a giant chop and cut it into pieces.
"A variant?!" Maria and the others exclaimed.
"Is it that surprising? Also, why are you guys shocked?" Gabriel and Arlo had it the first day they joined. He didn't think it was a problem.
The others shook their heads.
"Of course, this is a surprise! A variant of any monster is rare! What's more, they're expensive!" Tristan explained. Why did he have to explain common sense to the boy?
"Indeed," Gabriel sat beside him and relaxed as well.
"This is a great idea. When we are fatigued, we can get strength from doing this." Gabriel suggested as he raised his hand in the air.
"It feels good," Jack added as he dipped in as well.
"I feel like we shouldn't have more people join for now." Gabriel laughed.
"Why not?"
"Can you imagine so many people crowding here? That alone is going to cause trouble." He could imagine it now.
"Hah, you're right!" Keith laughed. They kept talking for some time before they got out of the bath.
"Are you guys alright with a room like this?" Keith questioned. These rooms were fixed up by Dalen and the rest of the dwarves. But it wasn't comparable to his or the other two.
"It's fine! And the bed is great!" Carolyn laughed. Keith was worrying over nothing. Like that, they entered the rooms without a thought.
Keith smiled as he entered his room. Today was a fun day.
But what he didn't know was that this was only the beginning.
...
Sniff Sniff. What's that smell? Keith blinked a few times as he smelled something weird.
"Kwak!" Aria's screech caused him to wake up.
"What's the matter?!" Keith quickly got up from his bed. And when he looked out of the window, his eyes widened.
"Dammit!" Keith couldn't help but curse as he jumped out the window. He was too much in a hurry to go through the door.
With a snap of a finger, water appeared in front of him, drenching the entire area. His cart was on fire!
But that was what he wasn't surprised about.
"What's going on?" Because of the smell, everyone quickly came out to check what happened. What they saw was surprising. In the moonlight, Keith had a dark expression as he stared at the culprit.
"Jack, why did you do it?" He stared at Jack, who had a torch in his hand.
"Because I had to," Jack laughed.
