Volume 5 Chapter 14: Mage Vs Knight
Volume 5 Chapter 14: Mage Vs Knight
"Alright, class. Today is going to be special." Shire explained, "I want to ask you all a question. In a fight, who do you think would win? A mage or a knight?"
A fight between the two of them? The answer was obvious.
"The knight would win all the time." A student answered. A mage was strong. But that wasn't the case against a knight.
"That is usually the case. In a case of nine out of ten, the knight would always win in a fight." It wasn't because of firepower. The problem was how long it took for a mage to cast.
Mages needed time to use their magic.
They needed cover for this to happen. In a one-on-one case, a knight would end the fight before the mage could have a chance to fire it.
"However, there are times when mages can be stronger than knights. For instance," Shire's hand started to glow as he slammed it into the wall, causing it to shatter.
"If a mage learned how to use strengthening magic, they could fight on par with a knight. And this could be even better for a close-range fighter. If they knew this, they could be even stronger. Today, we'll teach you how to use strengthening magic."
"Understood."
"Herrick, I want you to help teach the students how to use it. And you too, Keith." Shire turned to the two. He understood those two knew how to use strengthening magic.
"Understood." Keith nodded.
"Why me?" Herrick frowned.
"Because you have the highest aptitude for strengthening magic." That was one of Herrick's strong suits.
"Fine." Herrick sighed.
Keith stretched his hand back and forth. Like that, he went out to help the students. As he was doing that,
"Keith, can you help me out?" Alfia walked over.
"Aren't you doing well with Faelyn?" Keith saw Faelyn in action. That girl could teach anyone if she wanted to, and she was doing so with Alfia.
"But I want you to teach me."
"Are you talking about me?" Krystal had the ears of a devil. She came as soon as he called. Keith shook his head,
"Good, you're here. Spar with Alfia. She needs help with her strengthening magic."
"I wanted to spar with you." Krystal stared at Keith.
"Sorry. But I'm busy! Thank you very much!" Keith dashed away, not wanting to fight with these two monsters.
"..." "..." Keith felt the glare coming at his back. But he could care less as he was focused on the other students. There were quite a few who needed his help.
He had his hands full. While he helped them out,
"What do you mean you don't get it?!" Herrick's voice was loud. Keith turned around and noticed Herrick assisting a student. But it was weird. It was more like a lion staring down at prey. The student looked too dazed and scared to say anything.
"Herrick, calm down." Keith walked over to them. Turning to the student,
"What do you need help with?" Keith tilted his head at the beastwoman. The beastwoman was a little vigilant. She explained,
"I'm having problems with the force."
"Can I see," Keith smiled. The beastwoman nodded as she struck Keith's hand.
"I see. The problem is that you have an uneven amount of mana flowing through your body."
"Eh?"
"The reason is your control of mana. You have stronger control over your right hand, probably because you're right-handed, right?"
"Mmhmm," She was right-handed.
"You will need to concentrate more mana to your left."
"...Understood." The girl nodded and swung her fist.
"Eh?" "Feels better, right?" "Mmhmm."
"Keep trying to get used to it." Keith smiled as he walked and helped the other students out.
"..." Herrick stared at Keith's work. He was surprised by how he was doing this. He clenched his fist tight.
