However, there was three monsters. She felt they might just succeed. 'Please hold out.' Myropsis prayed, already resolved to move if Eldrian was about to die. She would not let him die alone. She understood Eldrian well and realized that in this situation, it was almost guaranteed that his protection as a Chosen would not work.
Myropsis might be the closest to Eldrian at the moment after having spent the past week together making the memorial artifact. They had not always talked just of work, she had grown to know more of Eldrian.
He had even explained his current situation and his own doubts about if he was still considered a Chosen. This was why her resolve to try to save him despite the danger to herself was so strong.
Eldrian kept on struggling, constantly feeling the gazes of the stronger monsters. A few of the Tier 5 had long since lost patience and joined the fray. Greatly increasing the pressure on Eldrian.
His body quickly became covered in scars, his HP continually moving up and down like crazy. Luckily, he had managed to use his item's abilities. While each use caused more stain for Two to maintain control, he would not survive without them.
Truly, if not for his new breastplate Eldrian would be long dead. Not only did [Bloom] allow him to heal himself somewhat, it also increased his speed. Sadly, the cooldown was too long and it could only help him so much.
The other ability [Gale] was of far more use. Eldrian activated it constantly, each time Eldrian used it, it would give him a few seconds to catch his breath as the winds forced the monsters off him.
By now he had managed to move their battle far from the village. Even if he should die the others should no longer be implicated. Eldrian could barely spare a glance at the rising sun, shining between the twin mountains and highlighting the carnage of Eldrian's struggle.
At this point each breath was strenuous. His stamina was now also running dangerously low. It was the first time that he found this to actually be a problem. He did not need the system to inform him of his situation, he could feel it very clearly. He was nearing his limit.
He was slowly coming to accept that the would die here. Still, he was resolved to not easily become the meal for the surrounding monsters. There were three in particular that he was extremely wary of.
Due to his mana problem he could not even use mana sense, however, Eldrian could clearly tell that these ones had to be Tier 6 or have a truly great bloodline. Else the feeling they gave him would not be so great.
One was an earth drake, its scales a deep earthen brown with a few colorful crystals adorning his head like a crown. If not for it staring with a greedy hunger at Eldrian, it might even appear quite majestic, even beautiful.
The second was a Mavros- a giant snake with bright purple scales and a pitch-black underbelly. Eldrian's instincts told him that one bite was all that this snake needed to kill him. Its poison might even be on the same level as a ghoul's, possibly even above it. As if proof, the snake's fangs were of the deepest black, a small drop of violet poison clinging to the tip.
The third was the one Eldrian was most wary of. Unlike the snake and drake, it seemed not to be that dangerous. This however filled Eldrian with fear just from looking at it. Eldrian had this suspicion that this one was not Tier 6, but he felt he was much more dangerous than the other two.
It was a wolf of black fur with multiple colorful rainbows extending from its neck to its tail. Each tail took up one of the colors, in total there were five tails. Somehow, Eldrian suspected this meant it was Tier 5.
These creatures could all kill Eldrian with ease, but they were wary of each other and Eldrian. Their instincts told them that for Eldrian to cause this phenomenon he had to have some truly powerful trump cards to safeguard his life.
Sadly, Eldrian did not. His trump cards were his magic, with it not available to him he felt truly frustrated. Without it, he was only a slightly above-average fighter. Only his stats were truly too high for his Tier. Allowing him to contend with the standard Tier 5 monsters.
Eldrian dodged the strike of a snake of bright yellow color, as he wanted to cut it in half he was forced to jump back as one of the smaller weaker drakes struck at him with its tail.
When Eldrian landed he was immediately assaulted by two kobolds. And at this time Eldrian was forced again to use [Gale] to save his life.
Seeing this repeated for the tenth time, the three felt that Eldrian might not have any trump cards. Or possible that he was incapable of using them due to the evolution of his mana network.
Eldrian happened to look towards the Mavros at this time and he froze seeing the glint in its eye. It sprang to action, its speed so shocking that Eldrian struggled to follow it.
He managed to dodge, but in doing so he fell to the ground. At which time the surrounding smaller monsters pounced. Only to be blown away by a fierce earthly fire. The flames burnt them to a crisp in the blink of the eye, droplets of it even made it onto Eldrian and he could only grit his teeth to suppress the pain.
Yet, this pain was so strong that Two was even influenced despite being mostly severed from their body. His lapse of focus caused their mana atoms to spin like pulsars, shockingly, the breath of the drake was no longer under its control.
Under everyone's shocking gazes, it flew towards Eldrian. Burning through flesh and bone alike. Eldrian's only luck in this was that none had flown towards the atom in his head. Else he would not most certainly be dead.
Through the holes in his body, everyone could see the fire being suppressed and condensed. Quickly disappearing. When it did, all that was left was light. Blinding balls of rapidly spinning light.
At this point, Eldrian's mana atoms were becoming so dense that they entered the corporeal realm.
Normally, such a dense collection of mana would lead to a chaotic mana storm. But these six mana atoms were a part of him. While their might was great, Eldrian grit his teeth and managed to suppress them.
But now he could not move. The pain in his body was beyond what should be bearable. Arcs of lightning started to form from the atoms and wreaked havoc through his body. Bearing this relentless assault, he could not even blink.
When a daring monster tried to move closer, one of these bolts struck out. The monster turned to ash before it could even register what had happened.
This caused the battle to stop as the monsters looked at Eldrian in fear. All taking a step back for fear of dying without even knowing how.
Not far away, Myropsis was struggling to not rush forward. She had followed the group, ready to act when Eldrian was truly at the end of his rope. Yet, in this situation she could do nothing.
