Chapter 50: A Strange Person

Dannan: “Yuto, incoming!”

Yuto: “Yes!”

From their front, 3 Black Wolves appeared.

They are the Monsters of the 11th Floor - the Black Hound.

Yuto drew out his katana in one smooth motion and cast his [Physical Enhancement] upon himself.

He drew back his right leg ever so slightly and kicked the ground.

He immediately accelerated with a <whoosh>.

In a blink of an eye, the Black Hound was in his range.

The katana cuts through the air.

One of the Black Hound’s heads fell off the shoulder without a sound.

Another continuous swing.

The Black Hounds respond this time.

But their evasion was clumsy and as a result, their upper and lower body were separated.

While Yuto took out two of the Black Hounds, the last remaining one opened its mouth at Yuto.

From the depths of its throat, he saw a small red flame flicker.

The next moment.

ーー<GOH!> (sfx flames bursting)

Yuto’s ears ranged with the sound of fire.

Eliz: “Mr. Yuto!”

Eliz lets out a nervous cry.

Her hands were already brimming with Healing magic.

In order to save Yuto, she was about to cast [Heal].

But Yuto responds to her quickly.

Yuto: “Oh, don’t worry. I don’t need a [Heal].”

Eliz: “.............huh?” Yuto was engulfed in the Black Hound’s flames.

Anyone who witnessed the scene would have expected Yuto to be covered in severe burns.

But Yuto felt no pain or discomfort.

He only felt a slight warmth as if standing before a stove.

Only that.

No matter how long he waited, the pain never came.

Yuto: (Oh, so this is what it means to have a Level 4 Resistance Skill……...this is amazing….)

The Black Hound’s flames is a Spell Attack.

The reason why Yuto is able to endure it is because he distributed Skill Points to his Resistance Skill previously.

This Resistance Skill blocked the Black Hound’s flames completely.

But even Yuto couldn’t imagine that the effects would be this astounding.

But that was not the only reason why Yuto did not receive any damage.

Yuto also cast [Physical Enhancement] on himself.

The Spell [Physical Enhancement] “strengthens the physical body’s abilities” just like it sounds.

This has the same quality and attributes as the Fundamental Skill “All Abilities Enhancement.”

With already a Resistance Level 4, Yuto buffed his physical body with [Physical Enhancement].

Yuto received zero damage from the Spell for this reason.

Yuto: (Well, it’s probably due to the Black Hound not having high magic power too.)

For the Black Hound, its flames are a secondary weapon.

Their primary weapon is their fangs and claws.

Yuto suspected that he felt no pain this round because the Black Hound’s overall magic power is not very high.

As he thought about this, he split the Black Hound who continued to spit fire in a panicked frenzy in half.

Yuto: “YES!” Dannan: “What do you mean, ‘YES’?! What the heck are you?!”

Dannan was beside him with a strained expression stretched across his face.

Oblivious, Yuto looks at him with his head tilted.

Yuto: “.......huh?”

Dannan: “Not, ‘huh?’, either! How could you get bathed in flames and be perfectly fine! I thought you died when that happened!!”

Yuto: “Oh, really? I’m so sorry. I’ll be more careful next time.”

Yuto apologizes sincerely.

Getting bathed in flames was Yuto’s fault.

This time, the Monster was unable to inflict damage on Yuto, but there are plenty Monsters in the Dungeon who can dish out more damage.

It’s just better to avoid all attacks if and when possible.

Eliz: “Mr. Yuto, are you hurt, yes?”

Yuto: “No, I’m okay.”

Eliz: “Oh, um…...wow, you don’t even have a single blister, yes…….?”

Eliz runs over to Yuto and examines for wounds. She checks around his body and tilts her head in wonder.

Her eyes were that of an observer who was looking at something alien and out of this world.

Eliz: “......that’s very irregular. Mr. Yuto, you’re very strange.”

Yuto: “Wait, what? No I’m not.”

Dannan: “Yeah, you're very weird.”

Yuto: “.......”

Yuto tries to deny what Eliz said, but Dannan aligns his opinion with Eliz, and Yuto falls silent.

It's currently 2 vs 1. He is out-numbered.

Yuto: “ーーwell, anyways! Let’s keep going!”

“ “ …………. “ “

Yuto headed deeper into the Dungeon even with the intense stares bordering a glare he’s receiving from the other party members.

<<<<>>>>

Dannan: “No, really. There is something wrong with this guy.”

Eliz: “Yes, there is something strange about Mr. Yuto.”

Yuto: “Errrrrrrrrrghhhhh……”

Yuto has been enduring the prickly, pointy comments of observations from his comrades as they returned to the surface through the Transport Room.

But Yuto himself is responsible for their glaring suspicions.

He took no damage being engulfed in flames. He defeated 100 Monsters per floor.

At the end, they arrived at the boss room on the 15th Floor and defeated the Troll Mage, but the final straw was when he sliced the Mage’s spell with his sword.

Yuto: (But if I didn’t do that, I would have been hit by that Spell……)

The Troll Mage immediately cast [Fireball] as soon as they stepped into the room.

While they kept their distance, the party easily evaded the Mage’s attacks, but once they attacked it once, the battle immediately and drastically shifted.

Dannan struck the Mage’s eye first with his needle, and blinded it.

Now their opponent was completely blind.

Yuto thought this would be an easy victory now, but the Mage suddenly fell into a fit of rage.

The Mage threw several consecutive [Fireball]s straight at Yuto.

Yuto could not dodge this attack, and the only remaining option was to cut through the [Fireball]s with his katana.

The Mage on the other hand exhausted it's Magic reserves with the consecutive [Fireball]s.

Before Yuto could go on the offensive, it self-destructed as a result.

It was a very anticlimactic end though they won, and the sense of an awkward let down could not be avoided.

And because of that, that disappointment and awkwardness were all directed at Yuto - the source of all these strange events.

They sell off the Monster Stones to the Guild.

Today, they were able to gain 15,300 gards.

That was exactly 5,100 gards per person.

Dannan: “You’re serious about splitting the rewards evenly?”

Yuto: “Of course. We were able to walk through the Dungeon with ease because you disarmed all the Traps, Mr. Dannan.”

Dannan: “Serious? …..yeah, you’re being serious….”

Scouts are only second from the bottom of the food chain, just sitting slightly above luggage carriers when it comes to rewards and distribution of pay.

This is universal across all parties.

But in Yuto’s party, the distribution is split evenly across all members.

Dannan is just troubled since it's his first time experiencing such an unheard of method.

Yuto: “Mr. Dannan, could you help us again tomorrow?”

Dannan: “Oh, uh...yeah. I wanted to ask you first if I could join you guys again.”

Yuto was ecstatic at Dannan’s reply.

There was a good chance that Dannan could have said, “I don’t think this party is for me” and left.

The compatibility, relationships, and dynamics in a party is extremely crucial.

No matter how much you like some Adventurer, once they try out the party by entering and working for your party, and if they can’t mesh well after that trial run, then they shouldn’t stay there.

As an Adventurer, it is your life that is on the line.

Even if it’s a temp member, there are many who are very selective when selecting a party to join.

[I can’t trust this party with my life.]

If that’s what Dannan thought, there is nothing Yuto can do to keep him here.

So Yuto was relieved that Dannan accepted his proposal to continue working as a temp member.

After watching Dannan disappear into the crowds, Yuto turns to Eliz.

Yuto: “So Eliz, could you tell me more about Dannan’s little brother?”

Eliz: “If it’s just what I know…..yes, yes.”
