Song Luli returned to work, feeling a rush of relief that nothing weighed over her heavily anymore. She recieved good聽news that the producers liked Lan Shufen's new script; thus, they were able to move on with production.
Song Luli went to tell her friend the news. So, she stepped into Lan Shufen's office, finding a woman clad in a dress, wearing light makeup; she had delicate features and medium-length wavy hair. Song Luli's eyes widened. "Lan?" she questioned.
Lan Shufen smiled, standing up. Her heels clicked on the ground, and she stood with confidence, unlike how she used to slouch when pretending to be a boy.
Lan Shufen twirled, the skirt of her dress spun. She held her hips. "What do you think, my dear friend?"
Song Luli's mouth gaped. "Lan, you're prettier than I thought!"
Lan Shufen's lips curved upwards. She gazed at the small mirror behind, looking at her bottom, admiring it. "I know. I was getting tired of wearing men's clothes all the time; I wasn't doing my body any justice."
"Why the sudden change?" Song Luli questioned.
"Well, I think my career is doing better, so I can finally come out as a woman," she said.
Song Luli quirked a brow. "Is that all?" she asked inquisitively.
Lan Shufen bit her lower lip. "Well...In all honesty, I want your brother! And guys like their females to be more feminine, right?"
Song Luli pressed her lips into a thin smile. "Lan. I'm sure Zhen likes you, regardless of how you look."
"You think so?" Lan Shufen asked, her eyes glittering. "We...kissed once, after he told me he knew that I was a girl. But he hadn't asked me out since then, so I was worried."
Song Luli laughed. "You should be more assertive. Show that you're interested, and I'm sure he will get the idea that you want him."
Lan Shufen shrank back slightly, pressing a hand to her rose-coloured face. "I'm not used to this. My gosh, Zhen, is the type of man I would most definitely want to avoid. But I can't. He's...He's...well, if I told you, then you would be grossed out since he's your brother."
Song Luli laughed. "Yes, I'd rather not know. I can only say to talk to him, seduce him if you must."
Lan Shufen's blush deepened, and Song Luli couldn't help but howl at Lan Shufen's bashful expression.
"Anyways," Lan Shufen said. "Is there anything you want me to do since you dropped by my office?"
Song Luli smiled. "Yes, well, I wanted to let you know that your new script will be adapted into a film," she said.
Lan Shufen's lips parted widely. She then lept and hugged Song Luli. "Oh, Luli, thank you!"
"Don't thank me," Song Luli replied. "It was all your hard work."
Lan Shufen shrieked of excitement. "I have to tell Zhen!" she said, walking towards her desk, picking up the phone.
Song Luli grinned, returning to her office, leaving the door open. She sat down at her desk.
Oh, the fresh bloom of love, Song Luli thought. Watching Lan Shufen and Song Zhen, she realized that when she acknowledged her feelings for Long Jie, it wasn't like the same way Lan Shufen reacted. But, Song Luli still recognized the feeling. She slowly fell for Long Jie; it was gradual, and it struck her before she even realized how deeply she cared for him.
Still, love didn't have to be all shrieks and thrills; it can be something natural, something that felt like it had always been there.
Ever since the events between Han Ru, Long Jie had been treating her more carefully. He had been more expressive and passionate. They had yet to talk about their future; it was something they both avoided up until now, knowing that they couldn't think that far with the threats that loomed since the beginning of their marriage.
Now, they were free.
She thought about how far they'd come. Song Luli had been cynical, to begin with. And Long Jie had patiently waited for her, going as far as pretending that this marriage was a beneficial transaction when to him, it wasn't like that at all. She wondered if he would have kept his feelings a secret if she didn't end up loving him back. What a risk it was for him to get into a marriage that didn't guarantee love.
Song Luli realized she had to confess to him again, even though she already had. She wanted to confess and keep confessing because she wanted to assure him of her feelings.
Deep in thought, Lan Shufen stood at her doorframe. "I'm going leaving now! Zhen is picking me up, and I can't keep him waiting," she said.
Song Luli smiled. "Have fun!" she told her.
Lan Shufen blushed and dashed away.
She stepped into the elevator, heading towards the lower level. Lan Shufen could see him through the transparent revolving doors, as he looked towards the casting sun. Song Zhen's hands were tucked in his pockets, facing away from the building.
Lan Shufen stepped from behind him, tapping his shoulder slightly.
He turned, his handsome knitted expression softened, and his eyes widened after recognizing her.
Lan Shufen tucked a strand of her dark wavy hair behind her ear. "Hi!" she said shyly.
"Hello," Song Zhen replied, awestruck. His golden gazed darted around her face and body appreciatively. "I don't mind how you normally dress," he said, "but this is surely a sight to see."
Lan Shufen turned scarlet.聽She watched as his gaze deepened; his dark heavy lashes had cast over his eyes, watching her with adoration. Song Zhen was tall and handsome. But he always held a playful and sly, play-boyish grin. However, Song Zhen never acted brazenly towards her.
They were friends, spending most of their free time together playing games, reading books, or eating in. Before she realized, she was beginning to see Song Zhen as a man, something she didn't imagine, something she didn't allow herself to think about. But what struck her was the possibility that he might like her as she never considered herself to be the object of desire for any man before.
She stepped forward, watching how his gaze followed her. She was determined to give him a hint that he wanted him. Lan Shufen lifted one of her feet, pulling the collar of his shirt, pressing her lips onto his.
Song Zhen closed his eyes, immediately wrapping his arms around her waist tightly, closing any of the crucial space between them. Lan Shufen felt him descend onto her lips, deepening the kiss. She gasped for air between as he dragged his lips onto hers,聽invading her mouth with his tongue. She could feel the heat of his shaft, the warmth of his body liquifying her.
She would have tilted her head back, letting him ravish her on the spot. But she pushed him away slightly, glancing around. The streets were mostly empty, except for a few that passed by.
She didn't expect that they'd be overcome with excitement in public. She blushed, and Song Zhen took her face in his hands. "Let's go somewhere quiet," he said to her.
