[Youg Hannotes]
Noelia leads 200 dragon knights of Lloyd and does forced march through the day and night as reinforcements to Youg Hannotes.
Participating in the reinforcements led by Noelia are me, Al, Cinzia, Suzana, Meila, Maribel, Sophie, and Diedur.
Each of them is riding on a wyvern driven by a knight, while Diedur carries Cinzia, running behind Dimol.
Thanks to the wyverns’ mobility, we’re able to cover the distance from the royal capital to the territory of Youg Hannotes, which normally takes two weeks by horse-drawn carriage, in just six days.
However, since we only took minimal breaks, everyone, including the knights, has accumulated considerable fatigue.
“Youg Hannotes should come into sight shortly. I know everyone’s tired, but we should be able to take a break once we reach the city.” (Frick)
No one answer to my call.
Everyone seems to not even have the energy to give a reply due to lack of sleep and fatigue.
Even the trained knights are having tired faces.
The wyverns have been flying for quite a long while, too, so if we don’t give them a good rest, they’re not going to be able to contribute in the battle.
“I can see Youg Hannotes! Although the walls are damaged in various places, the city still stands!”
It seems that the city of Youg Hannotes has become visible in the sight of the knight flying in the lead, as he reported the state of the city.
I immediately activate body enhancing magic and strengthen my eyesight, before looking at the city beyond the horizon.
Smokes are raising from various parts of the walls; and some parts even seem about to collapse, but looks like the worst-case scenario has yet come to pass.
Vigo’s side might just be waiting for the arrival of reinforcements rushing from the royal capital, though.
Anyway, it’s great that the city is still safe for the time being.
After confirming the safety of the city, I scan the surroundings.
Abyss Walkers and white-robed people are sieging the city, but…
Their numbers are not many. There are only 20 Abyss Walkers and 150 white-robed people.
However, since the Abyss Walkers are probably the enhanced type, even if there’s only 20 of them, I feel like Lloyd’s knights would have no hope of repelling them if they were to go out and face them in direct combat.
It’s a relief that at least there’s no Genocider in sight at the moment.
“The defense seems to be holding out well, Noelia. The enemies are consisted of Abyss Walkers and white robed people, whereas the Genociders are nowhere in sight.” (Frick)
“Thank goodness. It seems that Meiss has been doing his best. The enemies seem to be fewer than expected, too.” (Noelia)
We have yet to figure out the whole picture of Vigo’s organization, so we can’t estimate how much force they have.
Therefore, we can’t tell whether or not the enemies sieging Youg Hannotes are their full force.
“It’s quite possible that it’s a trap to lure in reinforcements, so we can’t let our guard down.” (Frick)
“Certainly, if we group up with the knights guarding the city, we would make up the strongest fighting force of the kingdom. The possibility that they are carrying out the plan that Father mentioned can’t be denied.” (Noelia)
“Yeah, it might be better to constantly keep a lookout for the Genociders.” (Frick)
“I understand. I will immediately share the information to Meiss once we arrive in the city.” (Noelia)
“I’ll leave that to you. I’m going to drive away the Abyss Walkers in front of the city gate so that Cinzia-sama and Diedur can get inside. Dimol, keep Noelia safe, okay?” (Frick)
With Dimol’s astonishing speed, we are fast approaching the city of Youg Hannotes, which is visible in the distance.
The enemies sieging Youg Hannotes seem to have noticed us, as some Abyss Walkers who are pointing the red-light-emitting cylinders toward the walls direct them our way.
“Wait!? Frick-sama! Aren’t you tired?” (Noelia)
“I’m sturdy, so don’t worry! More importantly, intercepting attacks are coming from below, so don’t get knocked down!” (Frick)
“Y-yes! Everyone, spread out! Please land on Youg Hannotes while avoiding enemy attacks!” (Noelia)
In respond to Noelia’s instruction, the knights, who are showing tired faces, tighten their faces, open up space between each other, and fly toward Youg Hannotes in loose formation.
Seeing that, I jump down from Dimol.
The red lights emitted from the tip of the cylinders held by the Abyss Walkers concentrate on me as I am descending.
Alright, the red lights are concentrated my way.
I have to make sure that they’re not turned toward to our allies.
About time now… here they come!
As soon as the red lights crawl all over my body, many fireballs are fired all at once toward me from the ground.
“Sorry but, I can’t let myself get hit. O’ wind drifting in the sky! Dwell in my body and become wings that can fly me to the sky! ‘Flight’!”
After I casted the magic, I feel like a pair of wings grow out of my back, and my body floats in the air.
The fireballs that were fired hit the target point, but I’m not there.
“Being able to fly sure is convenient.” (Frick)
[But you are slower than Dimol-chan. Wait—we don’t have time to chat leisurely! The next ones are coming!] (Dayle)
As soon as they saw me avoided their fireballs unscathed, the Abyss Walkers immediately take aim at me again, and new fireballs are fired at me.
“What a warm welcome. Well, thanks to it, Noelia and the others are more likely to land unharmed.” (Frick)
[Master is like a natural enemy from the perspective of the Abyss Walkers, after all~. Of course, they would give you a warm welcome.] (Dayle)
Natural enemy, huh…
When I first fought them, I didn’t know their weakness and thought they were invincible.
Now that I know they’re not invincible, I don’t feel like I’m going to lose.
“I’m fine being their natural enemy!” (Frick)
Dodging the incoming fireballs with Flight, I land in front of the Abyss Walkers gathered near the gate.
