The chime that signaled the end of the fourth period echoed through the classroom.
I hadn’t been able to listen to much of the class during the fourth period because I was fighting the sound of my stomach.
It seemed that everyone around me could see that I wasn’t concentrating, and Chinatsu kept giggling next to me.
As we were talking about this at the end of class, Kaede looked at me with a look that said she wanted to join me.
“What’s up, Kaede?.”
“I’d like to join in the conversation….”
“No, but…”
“Kae-chan, you’re the farthest away from us, so it’s probably impossible for you. Pupupu~”
“Chinatsu… you.”
When I showed my dismay at Chinatsu, who kept remembering and laughing all the time, Kaede was even more crestfallen.
“C-can we change the subject?!”
“I don’t mind changing the subject, but let’s eat lunch, I’m so hungry I’m dying.”
Takuto rubbed his stomach.
“Indeed,… I’m starving.”
We put the four nearby desks together and we placed our lunch boxes on them.
“Then, let’s eat!”
So saying, Takuto vigorously split the disposable chopsticks and ate the contents of his lunch box.
“Then we… too.”
When I opened the lid of the bento box, I immediately closed the lid because I thought I saw a pink heart drawn on the rice.
(No way,… I must be imagining things, right?)
When I opened the lid again, it was not my imagination. There was a big pink heart on top of the rice.
“Ahh!!!, there’s a heart!!!”
“So hot,” Chinatsu teased me. Takuto was engrossed in his lunch. The other guys in the class were looking at me with murderous intent.
“Aaah! Kaede is the same!”
I looked at Kaede and saw her face was bright red. Kaede pointed out to me that even my ears were red because of embarrassment.
“Hehehe, now they know we’re matching.”
She stuck out her tongue in embarrassment, but there was something about the way she had planned it that made me feel like a calculating cat.
But I didn’t feel bad at all, I thought, and brought the dishes from my lunch box to my mouth.
