Chapter 1388: Igniting the Crown

A raging inferno was ignited in the void above the World's End River Region. Its fiery light illuminated every corner of the land, and even the endlessly falling inky-black rain was vaporized by the boundless flames. This was simply too eye-catching.

Everyone's eyes were glued to the blazing flames as they looked on in shock and horror.

The three regal crowns were on fire in the midst of the humongous inferno, and dense amounts of source origin energy wafted into the skies. Just by being present in the area caused everyone's resonances to feel uplifted and alive.

In fact, some resonances started to show signs of advancing. This was all because of the burning crowns.

The three crowns were the manifestation of all of Li Jingzhe's effort, which was why the emitted condensed source origin. As it burned and dissipated, it naturally blessed the world and all living beings around him.

In the air above the World's End River Region, Divine Tiger King Zhao Zong and White Elephant King Zhu Yuan looked at the roaring flames with complicated expressions. They contained power that made even them tremble in fear.

This was Li Jingzhe's firm decision, bringing all of his Quasi-Triple Crown power to bear.

"You've actually chosen to ignite your crowns..." Zhao Zong and Zhu Yuan's eyes were filled with respect and admiration for Li Jingzhe's actions. Even Zhao Zong, who was often at loggerheads with him, sighed lightly.

They even felt ashamed when they compared themselves with the old man.

Reflecting introspectively, if they were in the same position, they would have chosen to escape on their own instead of putting their lives on the line to fight the Human Fetus.

After all, if they were to be truly pragmatic, cold, and calculating, a Quasi-Triple Crown King was much more valuable than everyone here combined.

......

In the skies above Abyssal City.

Qin Jiujie coldly stared at the scene as he mumbled to himself, "What a mad old man. He could have taken the chance to escape, but instead he opted to give his life for a few useless descendents, sacrificing himself.”

Li Jingzhe had ignited his crowns for a final, desperate fight against the Human Fetus. This was, in all honesty, a positive development for Qin Jiujie. If the two parties could take each other down in mutual destruction, then Qin Jiujie would no longer have to worry about Li Jingzhe and the Origin Reversion Institute's plan would be back slightly, preventing the situation from spiraling out of control.

......

As the inferno raged, one could see an awe-inspiring, golden dragon coiled within, and azure winds blew around it. Meanwhile, a gigantic stalk of bamboo stood tall beside it, emitting glorious thunder energy.

They were Li Jingzhe's three resonances.

"Father!" Li Qingpeng and Li Jinpan shouted. Their eyes turned red upon seeing the old man standing within the scarlet flames. Tears welled up in their eyes.

"Grandpa!" Li Luo was shedding tears and his heart felt like it was being torn apart. His eyes were solely focused on the elderly man in the middle of the wildfire, that striking image imprinted in the depths of his heart.

When he arrived in the Dragon's Fang Lineage two years ago, he started thinking of the stern old man as a close family member. Whether or not his actions stemmed from guilt over Li Taixuan, he had constantly watched over Li Luo patiently and kindly. It was through his actions that Li Luo was able to experience the unrequited familial love that reinforced the fact that blood was thicker than water. Li Jingzhe had never put on the airs of a King before him; he was simply a loving grandpa that would give his all. The Dragon's Fang Lineage’s Lineage Chief, who staunchly stuck by the rules, would bend and change them just for him. Despite only being there for two years, Li Jingzhe had taken much more care of him than his unreliable parents. This was something Li Luo had carved into his heart.

Its gloomy and terrifying gaze seemed to pierce through the void and focused on Li Jingzhe.

The flames that had briefly swept through the world, causing even the rain to vaporize, were beginning to gradually extinguish.

There were faint cracks throughout Li Jingzhe's body, resembling porcelain that was about to shatter.

Everyone could sense that the pressure emanating from his energy undulations was vanishing at a shocking rate.

A cruel and callous laugh rang out. "Hahaha. Li Jingzhe, oh, Li Jingzhe... I would never have thought that the Dragon's Fang Lineage’s Lineage Chief would die here."

The one who had spoken was none other than the Faceless Other King, who was being suppressed by the golden dragon claw.

As Li Jingzhe's energy dissipated, the severed claw gradually dimmed.

Qin Baiyan and the rest began to retreat hurriedly.

The Faceless Other King waved its hand, and cold, grayish-white energy flooded outwards, eroding the claw that trapped it. It then walked out leisurely. The claw was no longer able to restrain him.

The Faceless Other King raised its head, and a blood-red eye tunneled out of his featureless visage.

The eyeball seemed to be capable of looking through the void as it stared at Li Jingzhe, whose entire body was on the verge of collapse.

"Li Jingzhe, do you still think you can hold me back right now?"

Li Jingzhe didn't reply to him either.

"If you aren't able to, then I'll kill all of your descendents before your very eyes before you perish."

The Faceless Other King guffawed. It stretched its finger out and tapped the void lightly, causing spatial ripples to spread.

Wherever the ripples spread, everyone could sense that their bodies were trapped like mosquitoes stuck in amber, completely unable to move. The Faceless Other King then walked towards Li Luo casually.

It made an effort to ensure that each step was as slow as possible, intending to let the two of them experience the greatest amount of despair before it took action.

Meanwhile, Li Jingzhe completely ignored the Faceless Other King as he stood in the air. He raised his head and focused his gaze on the World's End River before him.

A crystal layer had appeared along a particular section of the turbulent river.

When he had previously ignited his source origin, he had used some of the flames to burn away at the World's End River. This had caused part of it to crystallize, and he could sense some familiar fluctuations approaching.

Bang!

The void shook all of a sudden, and Li Jingzhe saw a fair fist covered with incredible power striking towards the crystal layer. It broke violently upon contact. It was only then that a reassuring smile could be seen on his face.
