Tian Jing’s expression turned extremely grim, her fingers subtly tightening around the porcelain spoon. Since deciding to get back together with Shan Yue, she hadn’t seen Wen Wenxue. This thorn that had been lodged in her heart for years seemed insignificant when out of sight, but any hint of it brought her discomfort.

Her good mood for the day shattered at this moment, and she cast a questioning glance at Shan Yue.

Shan Yue took in Tian Jing’s expression with alarm and quickly moved closer to kiss her. “Xiao Jing, listen to me, I really don’t know why she’s here.”

Such typical words from a player—Shan Yue regretted them as soon as she said them.

Wen Wenxue gave Tian Jing a meaningful look. She couldn’t see what made Tian Jing so worthy of Shan Yue’s love for all these years. No matter how hard she tried, she never received even a glance of genuine care from Shan Yue, who always pushed her away emotionally.

But after chasing for so many years, Wen Wenxue was tired. Every time she saw Shan Yue with Tian Jing, she felt a pain that made her want to die.

Tian Jing, pregnant for months, hadn’t seen Wen Wenxue, but Wen Wenxue had. After all, Shan Yue personally took Tian Jing for her prenatal checkups at Sacred Heart Hospital, where Wen Wenxue worked. Encountering a pregnant woman there wasn’t unusual.

As the atmosphere grew tense, Wen Wenxue spoke up. “I brought my nephew here to play and came over to grab some food…” Running into them was genuinely a coincidence.

Upon hearing this, Tian Jing finally noticed the little boy by Wen Wenxue’s leg. She looked down, finding the once-delicious black rice porridge now hard to swallow. “I’m full,” she said.

The bowl was still full, and Tian Jing had only taken a few bites. Shan Yue frowned slightly, knowing what was bothering her. She decided to ignore Wen Wenxue. “Let’s go home,” she said.

Turning to her daughter, she added, “Tiantian, we’re going home. We’ll eat in the car.”

Tian Jing, holding her belly, left the table quickly, walking faster and faster. Shan Yue was still gathering their things, watching helplessly as her wife disappeared from sight.

When Shan Yue finally left, she didn’t spare Wen Wenxue a glance. Wen Wenxue’s face fell.

“What’s wrong with Mommy?” Tiantian, now in Shan Yue’s arms, asked in confusion. “Is she in pain?”

“Yes, Mommy is not feeling well. You can comfort her a bit,” Shan Yue said, spotting Tian Jing ahead and quickening her pace.

Tian Jing, frowning, gave her an annoyed look. “Why are you so slow?”

Shan Yue opened her mouth to respond but then thought of something, wanting to laugh but not daring to. She pressed her lips together and explained seriously, “I was packing up our daughter’s things.”

Tian Jing’s expression changed. She turned away, “Aren’t you going to open the door? Do you want to sunbathe?”

Shan Yue couldn’t hold back any longer and smiled, opening the car door. “Please, my dear wife.”

Tian Jing blushed and muttered, “Who’s your wife?”

Shan Yue just smiled without saying a word. After placing their daughter in the back seat, she whispered in her ear, “Compliment Mommy.”

Tiantian looked a bit puzzled but nodded obediently. Carefully climbing onto Tian Jing’s lap, she sweetly said, “Mommy, let the pain fly away…”

Tian Jing’s mood had soured since seeing Wen Wenxue. Despite Shan Yue’s countless explanations about their relationship, this person remained a thorn in her heart. Her daughter’s words offered a bit of comfort, but they didn’t cheer her up. She patted her daughter’s head without saying anything.

This mood persisted until they got home. Shan Yue took out the soggy fries and the half-eaten burger, left Tiantian in the living room, and forcefully entered Tian Jing’s room.

With their daughter present earlier, Tian Jing held back her temper. Now, with their daughter out of sight, her resentment grew stronger. Seeing the culprit walk in, she didn’t care about her pregnancy and grabbed the woman’s collar. “Tell me, how do you manage to keep ‘bumping into’ someone you’ve supposedly cut ties with?”

Shan Yue gently held her by the waist. “You need to sit down. You’re pregnant.”

“So, you remember I’m pregnant?” Tian Jing said darkly.

“I haven’t dwelled on past issues, but that doesn’t mean I’ve let them go…”

“Wait,” Shan Yue interrupted her. “You haven’t let go?”

Tian Jing responded with silence.

Shan Yue let go of her, looking at her in disbelief. She thought she had explained this a hundred times already.

“I’ve never had anything with Wen Wenxue. Why don’t you believe me?” Shan Yue nearly shouted but stopped, remembering their daughter was in the other room. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she sat on the floor, feeling defeated. “Is it because I haven’t done enough, or do I seem insincere? You don’t believe me at all.”

These careful months had been exhausting, and she knew they needed to have this conversation eventually.

Tian Jing remained silent, the room so quiet that a pin drop could be heard. Shan Yue, face downcast, slowly closed her eyes.

A noise from the living room startled them both. They exchanged glances and moved simultaneously, but Shan Yue reached the living room first.

Squatting down, Shan Yue checked on their daughter and, relieved to find her unharmed, Tian Jing softly asked, “What happened? What fell?”

The little girl looked up at her with teary eyes, pointing to a glass just a few steps away. In a choked voice, she said, “I was thirsty…” She had called for them several times but received no response. Trying to get a drink herself, she tripped over the carpet, causing the glass to fall.

“As long as you’re okay,” Shan Yue said, lifting the girl onto the sofa. She then whispered to Tian Jing, “Stay with her.”

Though still angry, Tian Jing was more concerned about their daughter. She poured some coconut juice for Tiantian and gently wiped her mouth with a napkin. “Look at you, getting your mouth all dirty.”

Tiantian, relieved that her mother wasn’t angry, leaned in to kiss her. “I’m sorry, Mommy.”

“It’s okay, but be more careful next time, alright?” Tian Jing said softly. “Mommy would be very sad if you got hurt.”

“Okay, I will,” Tiantian nodded.

Shan Yue had already cleaned up the mess and, noticing Tian Jing hadn’t eaten much earlier, headed to the kitchen.

Pregnant women shouldn’t go hungry, so Shan Yue decided to make something simple: tomato and egg stir-fry, green pepper and pork stir-fry, and seaweed egg drop soup.

Half an hour later, she brought out the dishes. Tian Jing, truly hungry, felt the baby moving actively inside her, protesting. Not wanting to make things difficult for herself, she accepted the bowl of rice and began to eat.

That evening, after her bath, Tian Jing found Shan Yue sitting on the bed, hands clasped on her lap, looking ready for a serious talk.

She didn’t avoid it and sat down next to her.

Sometimes she hated how she couldn’t control her temper, but whenever it came to Shan Yue and Wen Wenxue, she couldn’t stay calm.

“Xiao Jing, let’s continue our conversation from this afternoon,” Shan Yue began.

“Okay,” Tian Jing replied. Her anger had mostly dissipated, but since they had started, they might as well finish.

“Have you never believed me?”

Tian Jing frowned slightly. “That’s not it.”

“It must be that I haven’t expressed my love for you clearly enough,” Shan Yue said with a soft laugh that didn’t reach her eyes. “I thought that after all I’ve done, you would eventually understand, but I was wrong. You’ve never moved past the past. That’s why you haven’t agreed to marry me or move in with my family, because you’re keeping an exit strategy, afraid I’ll abandon you again someday…”

“That’s right!” Tian Jing couldn’t listen anymore. “How can someone with a track record talk to me about security? I am keeping an exit strategy because if you disappear again, I won’t be left without a place to live.”

Shan Yue knew this, but hearing Tian Jing say it out loud was still painful.

“I’m sorry,” Shan Yue said heavily. “I never wanted to give you such memories.”

“I’ve never had anything with Wen Wenxue, from the beginning to the end…”

“I saw it,” Tian Jing interrupted. “I saw her kiss you.”

Shan Yue froze, struggling to remember. “When did this happen?”

Tian Jing’s face was tense. “A long time ago.”

“Back in school?”

“Yes.”

Shan Yue frowned, trying to recall the memory. It started to come back to her.

…!!!

She remembered. Her expression became serious. Shan Yue held Tian Jing’s shoulders, forcing her to look at her. “If I tell you that she kissed me without my consent, do you believe me?”

Tian Jing’s eyes widened, clearly skeptical.

“Alright, I knew you wouldn’t believe me,” Shan Yue said, her gaze dropping in defeat. “But that’s the truth.”

At that time, she was discussing academic matters with Wen Wenxue when Wen Wenxue suddenly kissed her. She was so shocked she forgot to push her away. In hindsight, Wen Wenxue must have seen Tian Jing approaching and acted on it.

Feeling she was getting somewhere, Shan Yue asked, “Did you come to find me then?”

Tian Jing silently confirmed. They had been in a fight and hadn’t spoken for days. Overcome with longing, Tian Jing went to the medical department and witnessed that scene. She even saw Wen Wenxue’s triumphant smile.

After they reconciled, Tian Jing tried to subtly distance Shan Yue from Wen Wenxue, but Shan Yue remained oblivious. Their next big argument led to Tian Jing’s graduation and sudden disappearance. She realized she had been abandoned after a long period of confusion and sorrow. Her despair turned into mere heartbreak, but then she found out she was pregnant. Lost and in pain, she received a call from Wen Wenxue.

Wen Wenxue claimed she and Shan Yue were together and urged her to stop clinging to Shan Yue.

Last year, Shan Yue found her again, wanting to reconcile, discovering she had borne her child. Tian Jing wanted to scoff, to ask if she had hit a wall with Wen Wenxue and was now looking for a fallback.

But she thought the past was behind her and didn’t plan to get back together with Shan Yue, so she swallowed her words. Now, she wanted to clear everything up.

“Did you two ever date?” Tian Jing asked instead.

Shan Yue was confused. “What? Where did you hear that? I’ve only ever been with you.”

Taking a deep breath, Shan Yue said with unprecedented seriousness, “The closest thing we had was that kiss. If you still don’t believe me, I’ll bring Wen Wenxue here tomorrow. The three of us can confront this together.”

Tian Jing looked at her and suddenly laughed.

She must have been truly foolish to believe Wen Wenxue’s lies.

“What’s so funny?” Shan Yue frowned.

They were discussing something very serious.

Tian Jing’s eyes softened with a hint of a smile as she suddenly felt a sense of relief. She beckoned Shan Yue closer with a finger. Though puzzled, Shan Yue leaned in. As soon as she got close, Tian Jing grabbed her collar, and in the next moment, their warm lips met. Shan Yue’s eyes widened in surprise and delight, but before she could fully enjoy it, Tian Jing pulled away.

“What’s wrong?” Shan Yue licked her lips in dissatisfaction, clearly wanting more.

“First, Wen Wenxue came to me four years ago and told me you were together, asking me to leave you alone. Second, I believe you, but I’m still very bothered by Wen Wenxue, so you need to handle it. Third, once you sort out your messy relationships, I’ll let Tiantian call you ‘Mommy.’ Fourth, you need to ensure that nothing like this happens again. Fifth…”

Shan Yue listened quietly, then cursed softly, “Crazy.”

Tian Jing suddenly stopped. “Oh, if you’re not willing, then forget it.”

“Huh?” Shan Yue quickly clarified, “No, I was talking about Wen Wenxue.”

Tian Jing cleared her throat. “I’m tired.”

“Then sleep?”

“Yes, I’m going to sleep. But! You’re not allowed on my bed.”

Shan Yue looked bewildered.

“I’m still angry, you go sleep with Tiantian.”

Shan Yue’s face fell. “I don’t want to get drooled on by our daughter.”

“Then sleep on the couch.”

“Wife…”

Tian Jing ignored her pleading face and said firmly, “Say another word and you can go back to your family’s house.”

Shan Yue immediately stopped her expressions and headed out. After taking a few steps, she turned back, making one last plea, “But what if you get cramps in the middle of the night?”

“Three, two…”

With a creak, Shan Yue had already opened the door and left, leaving just a small gap. She turned back and peeked through the gap pitifully at Tian Jing.

“One…”

“Snap!” The door closed completely.

The room returned to silence. Tian Jing let out a chuckle and took a deep breath, slowly lying down on the bed.

In the living room, Shan Yue expressionlessly picked up her phone and dialed Wen Wenxue’s number.

Wen Wenxue sounded a bit surprised, as Shan Yue hadn’t called her in a long time. “Senior?”

Shan Yue’s face was stern. “I don’t want to dwell on the past, but please don’t disturb me and Xiao Jing anymore. Otherwise, I don’t know what I might do.”

Wen Wenxue was a bit confused. “What?”

“Don’t play dumb. Just remember what I said.” With that, Shan Yue hung up the phone and promptly blocked the number she had just called.

Having done this, Shan Yue settled on the couch. She glanced at the closed bedroom door and sighed helplessly. She rested her hands under her head and stared at the ceiling, lost in thought.

She reminisced about many past events. As the noise from outside cars gradually decreased, she yawned, looked at the bedroom door once more, and closed her eyes contentedly.

Nothing was more beautiful than being with Tian Jing.

Not knowing the time, Shan Yue was half-asleep when she vaguely heard a few pained groans. She abruptly opened her eyes and, realizing the sound came from Tian Jing’s room, she leaped up, not even bothering to put on her shoes, and rushed in.

“Another cramp?!” she asked as she pressed on Tian Jing’s slightly swollen calf.

Tian Jing bit her lip, saying nothing. Through the dim light, she looked at Shan Yue’s serious face as she massaged her leg, a gentle light appearing in her eyes. The pain in her leg seemed to lessen.

After over ten minutes, sweat beads formed on Shan Yue’s nose. She looked up and met Tian Jing’s gaze, making her blush slightly. “Does it still hurt?”

Tian Jing shook her head.

Shan Yue smiled. “Then go to sleep.”

“Mm.”

Shan Yue stood up and, as she was about to leave, felt a tug on her clothes. Without looking down, she instinctively turned around and swiftly slid into bed.

Tian Jing laughed and scolded, “Slow down.”

Shan Yue gave her a firm kiss. “Sleep.”

Tian Jing found it amusing and gently nestled against her chest, her hand wrapping around Shan Yue’s slender waist.

“Xiao Jing.” After a few minutes of silence, Shan Yue suddenly called out.

Tian Jing, almost asleep, responded with a nasal hum.

“Shall we get our marriage certificate tomorrow?”

Tian Jing, her voice heavy with drowsiness, replied, “Mm.”

Shan Yue was elated. “Really? Don’t back out when you wake up.”

“Mm…”

Shan Yue found Tian Jing’s phone, unlocked it, and opened WeChat. She found her own contact and recorded a voice message, asking the same question again, her face breaking into a mischievous grin. “Do you love me very much?”

“Mm.”

“Tian Jing loves Shan Yue very much.”

“Mm.”

“Tian Jing only loves Shan Yue.”

“Mm.”

“I also love you, and only you.”

“You’re so annoying,” Tian Jing impatiently slapped her, clumsily turning over to face away from her. She suddenly opened her eyes, her mouth stretching into a broad smile.

So childish.

Long, long after, Tian Jing found out that Wen Wenxue had left Sacred Heart a long time ago.

At that time, she was in the delivery room, suffering from contractions, and in her pain, she once again unleashed a torrent of complaints at Shan Yue.

Shan Yue was so nervous she messed up the delivery process, and the nurses laughed at her for a long time.

Afterward, Tian Jing laughed, “Doctor Shan’s image is ruined.”

Shan Yue kissed her forehead tenderly, “It’s okay, haven’t you seen me at my worst?”

“Really?” Tian Jing said with a look of disdain, “Then you better watch out, I don’t like fools.”

Shan Yue, feeling rejected: …

“Mommy, Ma-Ma!” Tiantian came rushing in from the living room, throwing herself into Shan Yue’s arms and holding up a drawing with a flushed face, a bit shy.

After giving birth to the second child, Tian Jing had explained everything to Tiantian. When Tiantian learned that Shan Yue was another mommy, she had many questions and started calling her “Mommy” the next day.

But with two moms in the house, it sometimes got confusing, so to differentiate, she continued calling Tian Jing “Mama” and Shan Yue “Mommy.”

Shan Yue took the drawing. It was quite abstract, but she could tell it depicted a family of three. She praised Tiantian, “Our Tiantian is so amazing.”

The little girl, even more bashful after being praised, smiled with her eyes nearly closed.

“But we’re a family of four now. Next time, remember to include your little sister, okay?” When she first learned that Mama was having a baby sister, Tiantian had been sulky for a few days, afraid Mama would be taken away. But she quickly adapted and was overjoyed the first time she saw her little sister, holding her tiny hand and not letting go.

Tiantian nodded vigorously, “Mm-hmm!”

“Good girl.”

Tian Jing smiled, watching the mother and daughter getting along so well. The baby in her arms kicked, quickly drawing her attention back.

After their daughter left, Shan Yue sat by the bed, watching her wife nurse the baby, her ears turning a bit red. She tried to look away but couldn’t help but look back.

“Xiao Jing, when are you going to move to my place?”

Tian Jing was a bit stunned and said, “I thought this was our home.”

Shan Yue laughed, “So now it seems I’m the one marrying into your family?”

“Is that not allowed?”

Shan Yue’s gaze turned intense, “Of course it is. If I’m marrying into your family, shouldn’t you show some appreciation?”

Hearing this, Tian Jing coldly laughed, “I’ve given you two children, what more appreciation do you want?”

Shan Yue’s lips curled into a smile, raising an eyebrow.

Tian Jing: “Hmph.”

Shan Yue gave her a coquettish look.

Tian Jing cleared her throat lightly, the baby in her arms was now full. She adjusted her clothes and handed the drowsy infant to Shan Yue, “Take care of your daughter first.”

Shan Yue felt a warm sensation in her palm, then gave her wife a wry smile. Looking down, she muttered through clenched teeth, “You really love me, huh.”

Seeing Shan Yue’s expression, Tian Jing knew the little one had wet herself again.

“Wife, hand me a diaper.”
