While death was a common occurrence in life, the feeling it evoked was one of unfamiliarity.

However, Ji Bai held a different view on that matter. To him, the end of his mortal form signified neither a beginning or an end.

It was simply something ordinary and routine, like a daily meal.

He had realized a long time ago that the human and vampire aspects of his body did not share the same fate with each other.

Their relationship was more akin to two separate entities, bound together by a complex web of connections. Though they would clash and seek to destroy each other, there was always an underlying tension between them. In other words, they were enemies, bound in a cycle of loving and killing each other.

Upon confirming that his human side was ‘deceased’ and could no longer sustain itself, his vampire form would instinctively take over to ensure the normal operations of his body.

As long as his vampire side was not completely extinguished, he was, in the truest sense of the word, immortal.

Yet, despite his imperishable body, the pain of his human body being ripped apart and the icy grip of death as his nerves screamed their last were excruciatingly real and inescapable.

‘Do you really believe I’m that much of a pushover that you can kick my head around like a ball?’

“I swear on my nine lives, I’m going to scratch those bumps right off your chest if you don’t back off, you cleavage monster!”

A slender, long and pure-white bone scythe smashed Lin’s rigid body aside. Seizing the opportunity, Bai Ji speedily got up and spread her wings, attempting to put some distance in.

Her human form had been completely obliterated and needed time to regenerate, leaving her feeling exasperated, defenseless, and exposed... as if she had been deflowered.

However, despite looking disheveled, she was extremely certain that victory was within her grasp.

Her opponent was on her last legs, having exhausted a significant amount of energy in their previous battle. With no time to replenish her dwindling magical reserves, she was, in every way, at her breaking point.

A projectile made up of magical energy whizzed past Bai Ji’s eyebrow, narrowly missing her and shattering a withered tree trunk behind her into pieces.

“You really wanna do this, Boobzilla?” Bai Ji’s eyebrows rose.

All she got in response was a glassy-eyed stare and a movement that suggested Lin could no longer distinguish friend from foe.

“Fine, have it your way then. I couldn’t be happier. That smug face of yours has been pissing me off for way too long. Looks like the Heavens are on my side, as today’s the day I teach you some lesson in manners, you arrogant brat.” Bai Ji licked her lips. The massive scythe in her hands stood in stark contrast to her petite frame as she swung it effortlessly.

So instead, she settled for using the blunt end to teach the busty troublemaker a lesson.

However, Bai Ji’s plans were tragically cut short. Before she could reposition the scythe, Lin ceased her struggles and made an unexpected move.

She took the initiative by deliberately breaking her own right arm to escape the hold. Exploiting Bai Ji’s shock at this desperate move, she turned the tables in one fluid motion – pinning her former captor beneath her in a sudden reversal of positions.

“Ah?!” Bai Ji was shocked, trying to kick the silver-haired girl off of her, but her struggles were useless; A perfectly measured force pinned her knees and ankles beneath the girl’s body, leaving her with no room to move about.

As she reached for Goutermera, Lin’s remaining left hand clamped onto her wrists in a vice-like grip.

“Mhm!?” Bai Ji had not expected Lin to resist so fiercely.

Despite being unconscious, this well-endowed anomaly was proving just as difficult to handle as before... Could her combat instinct be so deeply ingrained in her that it had operated independently of her awareness?

Without Goutermera’s enchantment, Bai Ji’s strength was so pitiful she could barely lift a piece of cake. She was naturally no match for Lin’s more developed physique.

I’ll slice those indecent lumps right off your chest!” In a fit of rage, Bai Ji bared her fangs in an attempt to act fierce. However, to any onlooker, she would resemble nothing more than an angry white kitten with puffed-up fur – not intimidating in the slightest.

‘Tch, you think you’ve won just by pinning me down like this?’

Bai Ji inwardly sneered, when she noticed that Lin’s right arm had not regenerated.

‘She must be so out of juice that she could no longer heal herself anymore, right?’

‘I’ll let you have your fun for now. When your strength gives out, I’m going to...’

Bai Ji found herself unable to continue her train of thought.

The girl’s delicately beautiful, yet emotionless face had approached her, coming mere inches away from her own.

Both parties could sense the warmth in each other’s breaths and the subtle scent clinging to their bodies.

A drip of saliva fell on Bai Ji’s face, instantly snapping her out of her distracted state and bringing her back into reality.

A smile spread across Lin’s lips, revealing her sharp fangs. Tracing them with her scarlet tongue, she leaned in close and breathed into her victim’s ear.

As Bai Ji regained her senses and saw the stance her opponent had taken, she turned pale.

“...?! W-Wait a minute?! What are you doing?? How dare you! N-No, you can’t do that! That’s totally unacceptable! I-I’m your- Ah!...”

A wave of pain, followed by tingling numbness, surged from her neck and flooded her entire body.
