The physical education teacher reported Yao Jin’s situation to the homeroom teacher. The homeroom teacher quickly contacted her parents and gave her a few days off to stay at home to recuperate.

The person who came to pick her up from the infirmary was Yao Wei’s* female assistant, Qin Qing. (*T/N: Yao Wei is one of Yao Jin’s mothers, this is not explicit in the text till later but well here you go)

After the school’s doctor injected Yao Jin with a special suppressant, it didn’t take her long to recover her consciousness but her low-grade fever did not subside and her body still felt weak.

She sat on the infirmary’s bed with an exhausted face and when she saw it was Qin Qing who came to pick her up, her pale lips sank into a frown in an instant.

After getting into the car, she curled up against the corner of the car, her forehead pressed against the cool glass of the car’s window as she silently closed her eyes.

After a period of silence, she heard Qin Qing start the engine and then call out in an apologetic voice, “I’m sorry, Jin-Jin. President Yao had an important meeting she couldn’t leave. So she sent me to pick you up first and asked me to take you to the hospital for a full examination.”

“Hospital?”

Yao Jin sneered, her eyes full of ridicule as she opened them, “I’m not going.”

Qin Qing replied awkwardly, “But….you suddenly fainted at school and President Yao is really worried about you. Won’t it be better if we go to the hospital to make sure everything is okay?”

“If she’s so worried about me, why didn’t she come here herself to take me to the hospital?”

Qin Qing glanced at Yao Jin’s pale face in the rearview mirror, feeling a sense of pity and helplessness for the girl. She has been Yao Wei’s assistant for some years now and she had some understanding of Yao Wei’s family situation. Most of the time President Yao is too busy to take care of her family and often sends her to take care of Yao Jin’s daily necessities. So she can be said to be relatively familiar with Yao Jin.

She has always watched Yao Jin and Yao Wei’s parent-child relationship play out on the sidelines, but since it was someone else’s family business, as a subordinate she couldn’t say anything. She could only persuade as politely as she could, “Jin-Jin, please don’t throw a tantrum here. President Yao really couldn’t. Your health is of the utmost importance, so we really should go to the hospital….”

“Yes, she is always busy and has things to do. I just have a fever, how can a little illness like this be more important than her making money?”

Yao Jin felt a little tired and closed her eyes with fatigue and didn’t want to talk anymore, “Take me to the Huayue Apartments.”

“That doesn’t sound like a good idea? You still have a fever so you can’t be alone right now. If you really don’t want to go to the hospital, I’ll take you home first instead.” Qin Qing said worriedly.

“Is there really any difference? There is only me in that so-called ‘home’.” Yao Jin’s voice grew even colder and there was a hint of impatience in her tone now, “I said it’s only a fever. The school’s doctor said that I should be fine as well. If Yao Wei is really worried about me, then let her send someone to find me every two hours to see if I’m alive or not.”

“…”

After knowing each other for so long, Qin Qing understands Yao Jin’s temper very well. This little girl is usually very easy to talk to, but once she makes a decision, she will not change it no matter what. And if someone gets in her way, she will fight them till the very end. Once she gets stubborn enough, anything could happen.

She could only sign and drive her to Huayue Apartments.

Seeing that Qin Qing had stopped trying to persuade her, Yao Jin relaxed a little and looked out the window.

Although she has been injected with a suppressant to stop the worst of her heat, her throat still felt dry. She grabbed the water bottle on the side, unscrewed the cap, and took a sip.

The faint scent in the car should be a smell she usually liked, but now it doesn’t smell as good to her. She suddenly thought of that cold milk scent from earlier again.

As to why she was thinking about it again…

Yao Jin furrowed her brows.

She remembered running on the track when suddenly she felt dizzy and her vision went black. She couldn’t remember much after that. The only thing she did remember during her period of unconsciousness was that someone fed her some delicious ice-cold milk to ease her pain. When she woke up again, only the school’s doctor stood in front of her. Then Qin Qing came to pick her up.

The school’s doctor scolded her severely about her mixing sleeping pills with her suppressants.

She hasn’t been differentiated for long and didn’t know that such adverse reactions can be caused by taking certain pills with her suppressants. Yesterday night, due to her knowledge that her heat was coming, she injected herself with a strong suppressant and then habitually ingested some sleeping pills for her insomnia. She never expected there would be such serious consequences for doing so.

She looked down at the water bottle in her hands. The water couldn’t quench her thirst at all.  Licking her dry lips, she suddenly had the desire to drink milk.

Qin Qing quickly drove her to the apartments, then took her upstairs, urging her to rest before leaving.

In this two-floor apartment of a few hundred square meters, she lived here by herself.

She lay down on her big soft bed with her eyes open and stared at the ceiling. Her head aching in pain, but she no longer felt sleepy like she did in the car.

This apartment was given to her on her first birthday by her omega mother after Zhuang Yue and Yao Wei divorced.

At that time, Yao Jin’s career had just begun to pick up and she was in quite a poor financial standing. Besides some basic alimony from Zhuang Yue, she refused any help from her previous spouse. Zhuang Yue was quite dissatisfied with her stubborn attitude. But with nothing else she could do, she decided to give this apartment to Yao Jin on her first birthday, saying that this would be her second home and that she will always act as Yao Jin’s faraway supporter.

It was quite ironic. Clearly, it was because of them that she didn’t have a “home” in the first place. It was two of them who cheated on each other, then divorced without remorse, and yet she dared to open her mouth to say that she would give her a second home.

As for saying that she would be her support, every time she was lonely and video called her mother for comfort, the video on the screen would be one of her mother with her new little lover traveling around the world. Her mother didn’t even bother to hide how happy she was with her new lover.

Zhuang Yue has never taken her feelings into consideration, let alone Yao Wei.

Yao Jin was not there when they signed their divorce papers, but she would often think when her parents were dividing up their property and other assets, they must have both rejected their custody rights. After all, it seems she is the unnecessary leftover from their disastrous marriage.

Yao Jin stiffly lay in her bed for a while, unable to bear the lonely silence around her.

So she got out of bed, went to the living room, and turned on the TV to the maximum volume.

She leaned back against the couch, staring at the screen in an unfocused daze. A food show was being broadcast on the screen, and the content was about making summer drinks.

A bottle of milky white Yakult is poured into a transparent glass and then mixed with the bright red and juicy pulp of a grapefruit. The blend of red and white painted a very beautiful picture on the screen.

She suddenly felt thirsty again and got up to go to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, she spotted a bottle of milk in the corner. Usually, she doesn’t drink much milk and so she doesn’t have much in stock. She only had this one bottle, but for some reason, she had a pressing desire to drink milk today.

She picked up the bottle, opened it, and took two sips before going back to the couch with the bottle.

She lowered her head as she took out her phone and unlocked it. Immediately, countless messages blew up her screen and most of them were asking about the incident of her fainting this afternoon. She swiped through the messages and opened the messages from Gao Mei first.

【Gao Mei: Jin-Jin, are you okay? I heard from our homeroom teacher that he allowed you to go home to recuperate. Is the situation that serious?】

【Gao Mei: I never expected the physical education teacher would ask Jin Siming to carry your other infirmary…. 】

【Gao Mei: Seeing how bad her mood was when she returned, did you two get into an argument again?】

Seeing the words “Jin Siming”, Yao Jin’s breathing stopped for a moment.

So it was her who took me to the infirmary?

Meanwhile, inside the classroom.

Su Xiaohang stared at the motionless Jin Siming, who has been lying on the desk with her head in her arms since she got back from the infirmary. Overall, she cut quite the sorry figure.

“Ming-bao, what’s the matter with you? Why are you just lying there? Are you not feeling well either?”

Jin Siming still laid on her stomach, lying completely motionless.

This non-response was too abnormal for Su Xiaohang. She couldn’t help but stretch out her hand and poke her friend’s back. But before her hand even landed, Jin Siming suddenly sat up with a snap.

Su Xiaohang jumped at the sudden movement and then took a closer look at her friend’s face. Jin Siming’s hair was a little messy, her face as red as a shrimp, and there were dark rings under her eyes. Her face was darkened by her bad mood and was scary enough to frighten anyone who saw her.

“Y-You….what happened to you?”

Suddenly, she was vigorously pulled forward and in the next moment, she found herself tightly pressed into Jin Siming’s arms. The other party’s chin laid heavily on her shoulders as the hug tightened. Su Xiaohang’s entire brain crashed at that moment.

“Ahhh! Xiaohang, I’ve been dirty! I was bitten! What should I do now?!!”

“….What?”

Su Xiaohang was knocked into a sudden daze by the hug so she couldn’t understand any of Jin Siming’s frantic mutterings right now.

After a few moments, she finally came back to her senses and found that several girls had their heads turned toward them. Some of them even had a hint of hostility in their eyes as they looked at her. She shivered and immediately sobered up as she pushed Jin Siming away.

“Ming-bao, you can’t ruin my innocence!” She crossed her arms protectively in front of her.

Jin Siming blinked and realized she indeed went a little overboard just now. She sighed and lay back down on her desk.

Si Xiaohang tugged on her arm, “What did you say just now? I didn’t hear it clearly?”

“I…..” Jin Siming opened her mouth but didn’t say anything in the end.

After all, it was difficult for her to say that she was bitten by Yao Jin.

“It’s nothing.”

She replied lightly and laid her head back on the table.

Lying motionlessly on her desk like a salted fish for a while, she sneakily pulled out her phone and opened up a search engine on her phone before typing some words in the search box.

Although she knew that Omegas couldn’t mark Alphas, she still felt a little uneasy.

She clicked the enter button and many answers quickly popped up on her screen.

What happens if an Alpha is bitten by an Omega?

【Top Answer】: Nothing much. Have fun and enjoy it~

Jin Siming: ? ? ?

What kind of answer is this? And it’s the top answer??

She frowned and scrolled through a few answers before finally finding some valuable information.

Answer: 【During an Omega’s heat, the Omega will be overwhelmed by emotions that won’t allow them to think properly. An Alpha’s pheromones will have a soothing effect during this period. There are two ways for an Alpha to soothe an Omega. One is to mark the Omega with a temporary marking bite and usually these bites disappear within 2-3 days. The other method is to allow the Omega to bite on the Alpha’s glands. Although the Omega cannot mark the Alpha, it will still have a soothing effect on the Omega and there are no negative side effects for either party. Perhaps the only disadvantage of this method is that the Omega will develop a slight dependency on the Alpha’s pheromones for a short period of time.】

After reading that there would be no negative “side effects”, Jin Siming breathed a sigh of relief. Then she read the entire paragraph and her brow slightly furrowed together again.

A slight….dependency?
