918 Medical Treatment at the Clinic
Su Liang could not be bothered to care about Su Yang and this woman. He did not believe that Su Yang would leave the family for this woman. Even if Su Yang wanted to do it, Old Madam Fan would not let him leave. Old Madam Fan was still counting on Su Yang to support her in her old age!
As long as this woman stayed by Su Yang’s side, it would be easy to find out about her whereabouts. They would be able to find him as long as they found her.
Su Liang chose to go to sleep soundly. The only thing was that the bedsheets and bedding were all smelly from Qiao Yu’s clothes and it stank up the whole house. However, in his current physical condition, he was unable to clean up the house, so he could only pinch his nose and lie down on Su Yang’s bed. He simply endured the stench and went to sleep.
Su Yang carried Qiao Yu on his back and ran all the way to the clinic with great fanfare. The neighbors around stopped in their tracks and watched him. Everyone was very curious about Qiao Yu’s background. They could not believe that any girl would take a fancy to one of the two sons of the Su family. This girl must be blind.
When Su Yang reached the door of the clinic, he kicked it open roughly. The doctor in the consultation room looked at the two of them in shock.
“What’s wrong with you?” the doctor asked.
Su Yang panted heavily and said, “My girlfriend has a fever! Save her! Check what’s wrong with her!”
The doctor quickly let Qiao Yu lie on the bed. After a careful examination, the doctor said to Su Yang, “She’s suffering from serious flu and needs an infusion. Do you want to treat her here?”
There were many patients who could not afford the medical fees. In the past, their clinic would treat the patients first before collecting the medical fees. However, many patients would disappear once they were cured. Their clinic had suffered great losses because of that. From then on, they would ask the patients to settle the fees first before treatment.
They were not running a big hospital which received support and funding from the government and charitable donations from business leaders . They were just running a small clinic that treated minor illnesses like headache and fever. They could not run it like a charity organization and help everyone for free.
Su Yang hesitated for a moment and asked, “How much?”
“Not much. If the fever goes down after the infusion within the next two days, she just needs to go home and take medicine regularly. It will cost one dollar and sixty cents today. You only need to pay for medicine if it’s prescribed,” the doctor said earnestly.
Su Yang heaved a sigh of relief. He had thought that it would cost a lot of money, but he could still afford it if it was just a few dollars. He went to the cashier to make payment and then he returned to stay by Qiao Yu’s side. The auntie in the neighboring bed really could not stand the unpleasant smell coming off Qiao Yu’s body. She already lacked rest from being sick and she felt even worse now.
“Young man, are you her boyfriend?” the auntie sat up and asked.
Su Yang nodded proudly and said, “Yes, I’m her boyfriend.”
“Why don’t you go home and get a new set of clothes for her first? I’ll watch over her for you. Your girlfriend’s clothes are all dirty. She won’t feel comfortable lying here while wearing them,” the auntie said kindly.
Su Yang also wanted to change Qiao Yu’s clothes, but the clothes at home either belonged to the two brothers or Old Madam Fan, whose clothes were the size of big water vats. There was really nothing that the thin Qiao Yu could wear.
Su Yang could not bear to go and buy a new set of clothes for her. An entire set would cost at least 40 dollars. He had handed all the cloth coupons issued by the factory to Old Madam Fan as he did not have any use for them. He did not know where she had hidden them.
Seeing that Su Yang did not speak for a long time, the auntie asked again, “Is there some sort of difficulty?”
“Auntie, indeed there is… My girlfriend had a fight with her family and didn’t bring anything with her. She came to seek refuge with me on such a snowy day. I don’t have any women’s clothes at home,” Su Yang said miserably to the auntie.
The auntie took out a set of clothes from her bag. She could not bear to part with the clothes, but she was willing to exchange them for a clean environment. There were no individual wards in this clinic. Everyone stayed in the same big room with curtains between them. If Qiao Yu’s smelly clothes were not thrown away, she would have to endure the stench.
“These are my old clothes. Young man, if you don’t mind, let your girlfriend change into my clothes. At least she’ll feel more comfortable,” the auntie said.
