Qian'e had to stay by Li Gui's side at all times nowadays. At the moment, Xia He was the only person who could help her out. Once Xia He received the call, she rushed over from Deng Fan's house.

On the phone, Xu Kang did not make it clear why Xia He was needed and only asked her to come to the house. Xia He thought that Qiao Mei was not used to being alone after Xia Zhe returned to the army and was requesting for her company!

She did not expect to see such an annoying person the moment she entered through the door. It really irritated her and ruined her good mood for the day.

"What are you doing here? Haven't you already cut ties with the Qiao family? Why are you here again? Don't tell me you're here to make peace again?" Xia He questioned.

Before Liang Lan could say anything, Qiao Mei heard Xia He's voice and immediately walked out of her room.

"Elder Sister, she has come to ask me for help. Let's go now," Qiao Mei said.

Xia He did not probe further. The few of them got into the car and went to the Liang family's old house. It was only when they arrived that Xia He found out that Qiao Mei was here to deliver medicine. She could have just gotten one of the helpers at home to do that for her. Why did she want to make a trip down personally?

If it was another location, then Qiao Mei would not be interested. However, this place was different. This was the house where Qiao Qiang used to live. Qiao Mei just wanted to take a look at the place where Qiao Qiang spent part of his life.

Qiao Qiang had mentioned to her before that there was a cherry tree in the middle of this courtyard which he planted himself. However, there was nothing in the middle of the courtyard now. The tree had probably been dug up by the Liang family the year that Qiao Qiang left. Otherwise, Qiao Mei would be able to see a lot of things related to Qiao Qiang through the tree's memories.

What a pity.

"It's cold outside, so let's hurry up and go inside! My mother is in this room." Liang Lan warmly brought the other two women towards the room. As soon as they entered, Qiao Mei and Xia He frowned and quickly backtracked. If they moved any later, they would have vomited inside.

Liang Lan said embarrassedly, "Um... perhaps you can wait in the other room first. I'll help her wash up."

"Just bear with it for a while. Don't forget what I told you. If you miss this chance, there won't be such a good opportunity next time! Then you can just lie paralyzed on the bed for the rest of your life!" Liang Lan said viciously.

Liang Lan went to the other room and invited them to go over. She said gently, "Come. I'm done cleaning up."

At the room door, Qiao Mei and Xia He hesitated for a moment. They did not want to get a whiff of that smell again. Fortunately, there was no hint of any smell this time and the two of them walked in with a sense of relief.
