Chapter 13: Locked in dungeons

************************************************************************

Not wanting to be locked up as a madman, Damien increased his pace and arrived at the main building of the Wolfe mansion.

"What—— are you doing here?" The guard who stood outside the main building was rather terse, he didn't treat Damien with contempt but he didn't show any respect either.

His attitude was very similar to treating a beggar.

"Can you call, Miss Wistoria?" Damien said to the guard with a polite yet businesslike smile. "I want to tell her something."

"No," the guard answered in a heartbeat leaving Damien speechless.

"Oh come on," Damien clapped his hand and stated in a jolly tone, "This is really really important, if you do not listen to what I have to say then you will certainly regret it."

However, the guard no longer spoke. He was treating Damien as if he was a grasshopper jumping around.

A nerve throbbed in Damien's forehead when he saw the blatant disregard of the guard towards him. He wanted to raise his voice and say something very rude but then ——

"What's going on here?" A charming voice called from the left and Damien turned to look at the beautiful woman who stood in front of the gates of the main manor.

Her silver brows furrowed upon seeing him and she questioned in a cold voice, "What are you doing here ?"

'This must be Wistoria,' thought Damien. He suppressed the annoyance in his heart caused by the guard and turned his attention to Wistoria.

He said to her, "Miss Wistoria, there is something that I want to say to you if you could spare me two minutes——"

"Did I not tell you to live like a rat and not bother my family?" The woman sneered coldly. "Or do you think that just because you hold the title of my husband, you can show your face around while wriggling like a disgusting bug?"

Her words caused the guards to burst out laughing.

'Who am I to blame? I was also eager to get rid of this tag of slave,' Damien thought with an annoyed sigh. The wise men were indeed right.

One shouldn't rush things.

He looked down at the woman whose sword didn't budge in the slightest and pretended to be as unperturbed as possible.

Damien tried his best to appear harmless as he explained, "You don't have to worry about anything, Miss Wistoria. Your family and I are in the same boat after all."

"You want me to believe that?" Wistoria laughed with a mocking sneer playing on her lips.

"It doesn't matter if you believe me or not," Damien answered as a nerve started to throb in his forehead.

Why was everyone in this world so stubborn?

He proactively smiled at the woman and claimed confidently, "All you need to know is no matter what kind of treatment the healers give your brother, they will not be able to treat him."

"Only I will be able to help your brother."

Though Damien didn't know what kind of injury her brother was suffering from, Dan had already relayed Wistoria's brother's condition to him. A healer could never treat him.

Unless Wistoria let him treat her brother, that man was bound to die.

A few minutes passed by as the woman stared at Damien who didn't let his smile drop as he continued to stare back at her.

After a pause—

Wistoria dropped her sword and Damien heaved a sigh of relief but then —

"Take him to the dungeon and lock him up. He is not allowed to come out of the dungeon unless he is willing to tell who passed the information to him."

Damien: "..." What a disobedient woman.
