Chapter 55: The Lost History Regained

"It should be quite strong," replied Xavier, with his brows scrunched up. "But why are you asking this, my lord?"

"Because," Damien trailed off as he glanced at the fame points that he had collected. The number was as pitiful as it could have been, but it was enough to buy a syringe.

He tapped the tip of his finger on the screen and then looked up at Xavier as the syringe appeared in his hands out of thin air.

"If it is not strong, then I guess I will not survive this," Damien spoke as he used the syringe to draw enough venom inside of its circular tube and injected it right into his vein before Xavier could make out the meaning of his words.

"My lord what are you—"

Damien didn't hear the rest of the words that Xavier said to him. His skin exploded or at least that was what he felt like, his blood was burning, wind seemed to roar in his ears. He could feel his bones twist and turn as if they were breaking and remoulding.

It was as painful as it could have been however Damien still managed to croak out, "W—Wait—Fo—for me to ..." he drew in a shuddering breath before continuing, "W—Wake up".

When the venom reached past his defences and up to his heart —Damien felt it shuddering. His vision darkened, someone chuckled behind him and a cold voice echoed in his ears, "You will do well, my dear beast man."

And Damien knew no more.

"Is he alive?"

"He is breathing, so he should be."

"That was a foolish thing to do, why did he even take the venom of that beast inside his body?"

"Who else can answer this question other than him?"

Damien could hear two voices whispering in his ears, he wanted to open his eyes and question them why they were distrusting his sleep when he was so tired.

His body was aching as if he had been stampeded by a group of angry patients, something that was quite common in the hospital.

And yet he was not even allowed to have enough rest. Come on, he deserved some break.

[Mana level: 1]

Damien sucked in a breath as he looked at the notification in front of him. How was this possible? How could it even be possible?

"Hey Xavier, can the venom of the Impert Snake beast melt tartarite nails?" Damien asked in awe.

Xavier's eyebrows furrowed before they widened and he crouched down. He placed his hand around Damien's shoulder before asking, "Can you feel a rush of mana in here?" He tapped the place where Damien's heart was.

"Are you speaking about the giddiness?"

"No, you foo—" Xavier closed his eyes and breathed in and out. He clasped hold of Damien's shoulder before saying, "It is a warm current. It circulates like a rising and falling octave, as it rises it is warm when it falls it is cold. In the middle when they meet they create a powerful wave of energy. "

"Focus on it, as long as you can feel the mana circle, it means that your body has recovered."

"I..." Damien focused on the sensation around his heart. His eyes flickered as he closed them and concentrated, though he didn't feel any particular difference, he did feel a warm surge around his heart.

Like a small, minuscule wave of warmth.

"What do you feel?' Xavier asked as Damien opened his eyes.

"I feel it, the mana circle that you speak off."

No sooner did Damien finish speaking, Xavier jumped on his feet. His hand was placed on top of his lips, a look of complete comprehension on his face.

"No wonder. No wonder, Emiliano had been sending a private army to find these Impert Snake beasts..this is why..." Xavier muttered. "It seems like they have some kind of great importance."

"Ughh.. isn't it because they can turn a beastman into transcendental if sacrificed?" Damien suggested calmly as he sat up straight and glanced at Samuel. He was looking sicker and frailer than before but he was breathing.

He was about to draw his blood out to use it to create an anti-venom spell when Xavier grasped hold of his shoulder and turned him around.

"What did you say? What do you mean by sacrificing these beasts can turn a beastman into transcendental?"

"...Don't you know?" Damien suddenly felt that he might have slipped up and recalled what the Impert Snake Beast had told him. Five thousand years ago...it had said —so does that mean this history was lost in these years?

He peeked at Xavier's expression and got his answer without asking.
