Damien didn't let the team walk around the forest. They hid behind the lush leaves and waited for Lexiel and his team to arrive. With Claw flying above in the sky, they did not have to worry about circling the area where they were hiding.
Claw relayed Lexiel's attempts to walk past the Whipping Wisps.
Boom!
The sound of something exploding echoed, followed by the ground shaking.
"I hope he didn't destroy a century-old tree," Serena muttered. She turned to look at Damien and asked, "Please tell me he didn't."
Damien smiled at her question before whispering, "I am sorry to tell you this but he is not much of a heritage protector."
"That fucking —" she caught herself in time before turning to look in front.
[They are heading towards the northwest side of the forest.]
Among Lexiel's team, there were three warriors and one tactician. It was one of the best balanced groups, and despite being outnumbered by a bunch of defender teams, they were still able to rise to the top.
"Are you sure that they are here, Eli?" Jasper asked the woman walking beside Lexiel.
"Are you doubting my skills?" Eli turned and scowled at the man. "Did I make a mistake with the rest? I assure you that we are on the right path."
"I hope that you are right," Landon stared around the surroundings before muttering, "There are only twenty-two minutes left for the game to end. If we do not find them, then all our hard work will be down the drain."
"Don't worry —"
"Are you saying that we will be defeated by a group led by a pathetic man who can't even be considered a beastman?" Before Eli could finish speaking, Lexiel turned and looked at Landon.
His gaze was so terrifying that Landon immediately lowered his head.
"I apologise."
Damien glanced at Serena and the rest, and they all stopped moving at once. They had walked a bit further in the deep foliage and crouched closer to the ground.
With Claw helping them, they were able to find the most advantageous position.
[Claw, try to stay as far away as possible in case the fight starts. I am not sure what kind of beastmen Lexiel is; we cannot take risks. So try to use long-range attacks this time around and don't try to grab him.]
[My claws are the most effective defensive measure.]
[I know but we cannot use those measures for the time being.]
He then turned to look at the rest of the team and said to them, "Once they get closer, try to engage them in a battle. But don't get caught; just try to drag this fight as long as possible. Go for the warriors first."
"No," Serena refused. "We need to stun Eli first. That woman is dangerous; one look at her eyes and we will turn into a statue for the next three hours. We have to take her out first."
Lexil's team came into sight and they all rose to their feet. Enjoy exclusive content from mvl
"They actually hid here; do they think that they can take us down?" Lan joked while looking at the four dark silhouettes.
Jacob rubbed his fingers; he had mastered a skill that would allow him to control and create beasts closer to his own kind. Though the range was only four creatures for the time being, it was enough to deal with these people.
Damien had no idea about the skills of the four beastmen in front of him. He could only think of tactics that would delay this game as long as possible.
"Attack!" Lexiel shouted as he and his team charged at the group in front of them.
Damien narrowed his eyes when he saw Eli pulling down the glasses that she was wearing.
It seemed like they were indeed trying to turn them into statues.
[Claw distract that woman.]
Since they wanted to use dirty tricks, don't blame him for matching their energy.
