Chapter 67- Returning home
Three targets appeared. Logan flexed his wrist and in the next moment, the three targets were stabbed with small throwing knives. His aim was precise and the ferocity of his strike could easily prove lethal for his enemies.
'Yet...I was defeated by her...' Logan has been training since the morning. He somehow couldn't digest the fact that Alatia beat him in close combat.
It wasn't like he was being narcissistic or was underestimating Alatia, rather, he was shocked by the realisation that he never had a chance against her.
She is a monster. Not only was her magic activation speed above some of the Professors but her physical strength was something to fear about.
Logan deemed that she might have problems moving on the ice she had covered the whole arena in, that's why his mid-air attack was perfect to throw her off balance and claim the victory. But he was utterly wrong and got mercilessly his ass handed to him.
'Fuuuu...' Not good. He decided to not dwell in the depressing past and become better by training as hard as he could.
For now, his major concern was his angelic awakening. Last time, when he was fighting a demonic boar back when he was still an adventurer, Logan was able to summon his wings and divine armour somehow. However, during the Academy assessment and also the battle against Alatia, Logan didn't have any support from his heavenly side.
If not for him being knowledgeable about some basic spells, then Alatia would have gotten done with him in the first few seconds of the duel.
"Aren't you overthinking things?"
"Ah!" Suddenly, Logan yelped upon finding a familiar pink-haired girl standing there.
"Oh hey, Sasha." Logan greeted the girl with whom he shares his desk in the classroom.
Sasha Crossford—the daughter of Viscount Albert Crossford is one of the noble entities in the Academy who, unlike others, doesn't make him feel like he is inferior to her at all.
Most of the nobles he had come across until now—like Alatia or that bastard who was tormenting his maid before the orientation ceremony—held a certain air about them which always made Logan cautious of his behaviour around them.
However, Sasha was different. She is a very lively and helpful girl and someone who became his friend in no time.
Logan waved at the silver-haired girl standing a few meters behind Sasha. In response, Elera nodded in acknowledgement.
"Were you training?" Sasha asked the obvious as her eyes travelled towards the knife-stabbed targets.
"Ah yeah...kinda bored since there are no classes today," Logan replied while rubbing the back of his head.
Everyone was told to relax for the days since after the academy began it was the first day they were given a leave. However, being a battle enthusiast, he couldn't lie on the bed. And especially not after what he faced during his first duel in this academy.
"By the way, have you heard?" The way Sasha's eyes sparkled, Logan detected that she had some hot news to share.
Raising his brows he shook his head.
"You will get a hang of it in no time." I poked her spongy cheek as I said.
She tried to bite my finger, but I was quick enough to retract my hand—only to find her looking at me with a pleading gaze.
"*Sigh* Seriously....why do you like to bite me so much?" I have recently discovered that she liked things like biting and giving hickeys.
The moment she finds me vulnerable, she attacks my neck or shoulder to leave her mark.
...sometimes I think she is a sadist by nature. However, looking at her childish smile when I allowed her to bite me, I disregarded such thoughts.
The carriage continued to move at a moderate pace as we sat inside comfortably.
Some snacks were available for us to enjoy in between but since the breakfast I made was hefty enough to do for the lunch as well, we didn't really eat anything until noon.
"Collen, can we take a break?" I asked him after peeking my head out of the window.
"Is Your Highness feeling discomfort?" He asked in a slight panic.
"Ah, no, she is actually half asleep. I thought that the soldiers might be tired."
Collen looked around and was about to say something like 'They can walk all day without a problem' However upon seeing their state, he hesitated.
Since the summer was at its peak, the afternoon sun felt quite harsh that's why I suggested. Since it would only take seven more hours to reach the Capital we weren't in a rush, actually.
"If Your Highness doesn't have a problem, then let's take a break."
I felt several eyes of gratitude and appreciation directed at me.
As I entered back inside the carriage I looked at the sleeping face of Alatia before helping her get more comfortable on the seat.
'Sleep well...' Planting a soft kiss on her forehead I climbed out of the carriage to look around a bit.
Surely there must be something interesting in the forest to pass the time, right?

A/N:- Nothing happened in this chapter, I know. But well, I need to build some side characters and give a regular perspective of the main character
(Logan) from time to time as well. In the upcoming arc, he would be quite useful after all.
