Goddess Miracle Diva
On the sandy beach, there were sea spirits, Nereis, and piles of materials.
A pile? It was a pile. They were piled up in a heap. From the ones you've always wanted to the very rare materials you'll be lucky to find. If I sold them, I'd probably be able to live off them for the rest of my life. It was a lot of stuff.
“Miracle Diva-sama! We have all worked very hard!”
Praise me, praise me! Their tails were… not, the tail fins of the big sisters were energetically hitting the surface of the water. The water was splashing everywhere! I don’t want to get wet so I’d like you to stop.
“I told you to call me Rosarin. That aside, this is incredible… everyone really did their best. Thank you very much.”
“It was nothing, Miracle Diva-sama is our benefactor, after all.”
“In addition, I told them that if we worked hard enough to collect these, we might be able to hear that wonderful song again, and everyone who hadn't heard it wanted to hear it too, so we all did our best to collect these.”
A young-looking sea spirit Nereis girl spoke to me with a smile. This girl was there yesterday, too.
“The hurdle was set too high…”
Honestly, I don't think my song is worth that much. Oh, but it's a Beneficiary song, so it's unusual, I guess? Well, it's not like I’m going to lose anything by singing, so I don’t really mind. I think it's okay to sing for them since they have worked so hard.
“Then, you want to hear the same song as yesterday?”
“Yes. We’d like to hear some more songs if you have any, too.”
“Well, that’s fine with me.”
I changed my ring into a guitar and started with the same song as yesterday. Then I sang pop songs, jazz songs, enka songs, children's songs, hymns... all kinds of songs, as many as we could think of.
“Ah~ my throat is starting to hurt…”
“Here you go. As expected of Ojousama. You sang wonderfully.”
“Thank you.”
Jash, the capable servant, offered me an iced milk tea. Delicious. Jash had gone home last night, but since Martha has a day off, he had come back on her behalf.
Jash is really thoughtful. Thanks to the milk tea, I was able to moisten my throat. He even gave me throat lozenges. Thank you.
Huh? The Nereis weren’t reacting. When I looked at them, they were frozen in place. Then, when their rigidity was lifted, they burst into tears and started screaming.
“Bravo!!”
Some people started to clap in unison, others jumped up and down, and the reactions varied. I told you that I don't want to get wet. But they seem to be happy, so I guess it's okay.
“You are no Miracle Diva, you are a Goddess…! Your singing voice is that of a Goddess!!”
“She's the Diva Goddess!!”
Wait, wait, wait! You are exaggerating!! Why did my rank increase!?
“Ohh… that was some incredible singing.”
“Look, I got goosebumps.”
“What a voice. She can sing like a man and like a woman alike…”
“I understand why those ladies consider her a goddess… even minstrels cannot sing like her…”
Wait!! Uncles, aunties, don’t agree with them! People whose job is singing are surely better than me!
“By all means… please let us hear you sing again by all means! We will collect more materials for you!”
“We have to listen to that amazing singing again! We will get as much material as you want!”
The Nereis’ eyes were all sparkly.
“Ah~ if there’s an opportunity, okay? I'm sure I will have enough materials for the time being…”
It's not a shortage, it's a huge surplus… what should I do? I'll give it to Grandpa Sage as a souvenir. I'm sure he'll be very happy. Won’t he dance in joy? That grandpa is a genius of the paper-thin variety, after all.
“Yes! Please order us anytime!”
“Please use this if you have something you need from us!”
“A shell?”
She handed me a shell the size of the palm of my hand. It was the kind that warlords use to blow. Do I blow into it? No, it's a magic tool. It has a small amount of magical power.
“It is a sign of friendship called the Mark of the Sea Spirit Nereis, and if you blow it once, the Nereis and our underlings will gather nearby and help you. If you need materials, please use it to summon us.”
My pleasantries did not connect well. The Nereis were ready to be summoned. I'm not sure what to do. I'm not sure what to do. The blackened servants were giggling. I’m going to sort Curtis out later.
My title is no longer correctable, it seems to have taken hold. Even the old men in the fishing village call me Diva. I'm not a god… No, no, I'm just a normal... slightly more tomboyish daughter of a Duke!
Seriously, how did it turn out like this!?
