C29 – Challenge Letter!
Wei Pengxing clenched his teeth and spat out venomously, “Just you wait. You’re in over your head, you fool! My brother will make sure you pay for this, you lowly peasant!”
Peng Gengkun snorted dismissively. “Too bad Wei Mingzhi isn’t here to save you.”
In the midst of speaking, Peng Gengkun lifted his leg, intent on kicking Wei Pengxing out of the room.
But just as Peng Gengkun was about to act, Dou Yuanke, from behind him, let out a roar and broke free from the Demon Suppressing Ring. He then lashed out with a palm strike, his move seething with resentment as he channeled Astral Energy. Though not a Martial Arts technique, it was still a force to be reckoned with!
Peng Gengkun, however, just sneered.
“I knew you’d escaped the Demon Suppressing Ring. A sneak attack? How laughable!”
With a swift counter, Peng Gengkun’s palm surged with Leviathan-roc Astral Energy, instantly snuffing out Dou Yuanke’s strike. His palm then met Dou Yuanke’s face squarely, sending him flying out of the room.
Dou Yuanke, once quite the handsome figure, now sported a face red and swollen from Peng Gengkun’s slap.
This time, however, Peng Gengkun didn’t rush to kick Wei Pengxing out. Instead, he looked down at him and said, “You’ve lost this round. The Cloud Crane Tower will be expecting compensation shortly—make sure you pay up.”
He paused, then added with a hint of sarcasm, “Someone of your noble heritage shouldn’t have any trouble coming up with the Spirit Stones.”Updated from novelb(i)n.c(o)m
Wei Pengxing seethed, muttering a curse under his breath before he scrambled up and fled in disarray.
The room, now in shambles, was clearly no place to continue their meal.
Peng Gengkun shrugged with a trace of regret. “My apologies. It seems my personal affairs have dampened the evening for you all.”
Lin Huaqiao chuckled heartily. “Not at all! Without Junior Brother Peng’s intervention, we might have been the ones thrown out of the Cloud Crane Tower! We’re deeply appreciative of your help!”
After a brief pause, Lin Huaqiao added, “We may not have fine wine and gourmet dishes, but there’s still some rough wine and roasted meat available! If it’s alright with you, let’s head to my place for a drink and a bite to eat.”
Amid their conversation about Peng Gengkun, another voice echoed in the room.
“This individual intrigues me. True, we are heirs of the Wealthy Class, but our families’ fortunes won’t last eternally. His presence serves as a reminder not to lose ourselves in our familial glory.”
Upon hearing these words, all the Inner Sect disciples present adopted an air of reverence. Even the haughty Dou Xi’ao and Xi Ming, along with the aloof Xi Yingzhu, offered a bow to the speaker.
The speaker was none other than the Little Prince, clad in a yellow robe and jade crown, the same who had backed Peng Gengkun at the Death Match Arena. However, he was now indulging in crab with a flamboyant flair.
“It’s crab season, and the richness of this crab roe is simply irresistible. These delicacies were sourced from Verdant Lake in the Obeoton Empire by the Cloud Crane Tower. Dig in, everyone! And if we don’t finish, don’t hold it against me for refusing to foot the bill.”
His antics drew laughter from the crowd.
The Little Prince ranked among the mightiest on the Inner Sect disciple leaderboard. Though the top ten names were traditionally unveiled at the end, it was common knowledge that he would secure a spot, potentially even vying for the top.
Peng Gengkun found the simple pleasures of drinking and feasting at Lin Huaqiao’s far more to his liking than the grandeur of the Cloud Crane Tower. Lacking ambition, he much preferred the liberty of such a carefree existence.
After a satisfying meal and drinks, Peng Gengkun said his goodbyes and retreated to his room.
Despite having bested Dou Yuanke earlier in the day, Peng Gengkun was aware of Yuanke’s relatively low standing.
Even Wei Pengxing possessed a spatial item, yet Dou Yuanke did not. Peng Gengkun surmised that Dou Yuanke might belong to a prominent family, but his position within it was certainly not significant. Thus, Yuanke was of little concern to Gengkun.
His attention was now firmly on Wei Mingzhi.
Whether Mingzhi agreed to a duel at the Death Match Arena or not, a confrontation with him was inevitable.
But Peng Gengkun’s boldness in challenging Wei Mingzhi, an Inner Sect disciple, was not without foundation—he was confident in his abilities.
This confidence stemmed from the very item that Chang Jipeng’s disciple had delivered to him.
