The tab slipped from Daniel's hand as his breathing turned shallow. He turned to Sam to see him blankly looking outside. He didn't know what to tell or how to calm him.
He looked broken. Completely.
Daniel knew the least Sam could see somebody getting hurt was Sky and he could imagine how much he was detesting himself because of the incident.
When Sam had exited the Sky's ward, he had heard Arlo coldly ordering the doctor, 'Destroy the evidence. Nobody means no one should get to know about this.'
Sam thought there might be a problem with Sky's wound and snatched the reports from his hand. He had seen the report by the time Arlo took away from him and sent him off.
Arlo didn't let anybody know. Sky or her brothers or their parents. Nobody knew it excluding Sam and now Daniel.
Sam probably wouldn't try to dodge if Arlo had hit him or shot him dead. But letting him off and also revealed the assassins' group location to the military which let his life safe from them, he felt suffocated each second.
He didn't move from his room straight five days until he received a message from Arlo. 'Be normal.'
Sam hadn't answered any calls and even missed Sky's calls so he knew Arlo sent it for Sky.
Jai and Loran were sent back to routine on Sky's third day in the hospital.
David and Olivia were told as Sky and Arlo were in Smith mansion. George and Georgia had no idea about anything.
Due to winter, Sky wore sweaters and full sleeves so others didn't get to know. Arlo who always took care of Sky was extra careful due to her right-hand low functionality.
Sky had greater mood swings which Arlo didn't mind and made everything look normal.
By the time Sky could recover her hand completely, he convinced David to speak out about his wife Amie and Milton. Joe and Old master returned to country A on Arlo's order which they followed because of Sky.
Arthur Milton who tried to stop his father failed due to Arlo.
Oblivious of all this, Sky went to David's study for the first time with Arlo where David was already present.
Sky looked around in the study to see David had her every year's birthday picture from age one. The photo frames looked old for her to realize that David was in contact with George and didn't go to her on purpose when she was a kid.
Arlo stood right behind her seeing every small change unsure if she could take on everything strongly.
Sky saw a shelf full of things that she used to sell on her website. Finally, her hands got the health reports of Amie after her birth which Sam hadn't got after his investigation.
Sky glanced at David who stood ramrod watching outside. Nobody could say what he was going through.
She quickly checked to see the reports and it wasn't difficult for her to identify Amie was just weak after giving birth to her which needed a few days rest.
"Dad, I am not the reason behind the death of... my mother. Am I right?"
David nodded vexing Sky who threw the report on the desk. "I kept blaming myself all these years that you had to live alone because of me and you didn't feel the necessity to tell me. Wow..."
She stopped and took a deep breath to relax knowing David would have his reasons.
She made him sit whose eyes had rimmed red, "At least, will you tell me now what happened that time and how that hospital caught fire?"
David was hesitant which made Arlo pat his shoulders to encourage him to speak it off. "Old master Milton had written his will transferring most of the shares to Amie which Arthur got to know."
Sky could make out the full story from there but another voice sounded near the door making Sky clutch her fist tight.
"I took a greater time to realize Arthur always provoked me to go against my own daughter. When I got to know you were born, I signed the will and testament which I had prepared so that my son wouldn't disrespect his sister. But he... he thought killing my daughter and you, he can get the whole empire for himself. (Sigh) He put the whole hospital on fire as he couldn't reach my daughter and didn't know you. During those times, hospitals weren't big and safe as it is now so it got fire quickly spreading and burning everything up.
David had successfully saved you from the nursery and you were crying due to heat which made him leave you to your foster father's hands and ran inside. But the roof had collapsed around the section where my daughter was in. Your father was also caught by fire. A firefighter had to bring him back as others couldn't be saved."
Sky had shifted near David and hugged him hearing the Old master Milton continue standing next to Joe.
"Many children were dead. Later Arthur got to know it wasn't just will, I had transferred everything. So he wanted to get you and started searching to keep you caged under him.
Since your father was hospitalized, you were with your foster father during that time. As soon as David got to know what Arthur was up to, he had begged your foster father to look after you away from him, Arthur and us."
Sky's hands got tighter around David as she heard. She couldn't believe David kept everything to himself. Whenever they mentioned Arthur, she had the urge to crush him.
Arlo who thought she might turn weak was actually happy seeing her former self. He always liked the fierceness of his wife as his hand subconsciously caressed her head.
Joe passed water to his grandfather hearing him continue which even he was listening for the first time.
"You were away wasn't because you couldn't get a family love. He was trying to save you from my heartless son. Because... Because you are the leading shareholder of the Milton empire."
"Heh!" Sky smirked. She realized why she always had sentry. It wasn't because she was Harley because she holds a larger portion in her name.
Seeing him stop, Sky scorned, "Chairman Milton! If it's just those stupid shares, my dad would have asked me to transfer as soon as I was eighteen."
Arlo sat in front of her as he spoke, "You can't transfer shares just by the sign. It can only be transferred after the approval of Chairman Milton and Joe Milton. They weren't ready to approve so Dad couldn't transfer back to them by signatures."
He paused and said in determination, "If you want to transfer, I will make it happen."
