National Tax Bureau Valley District Sub-bureau Branch.
"What? Contact the media, hold a press conference? Right now? Are you sure? This... Well then, fine!"
After hanging up the phone, Edward's eyes were still wide with disbelief.
The call had, of course, come from David, and David had not been here for long. Yet he wanted him to hold a press conference, ready to announce the tax evasion crimes of two city hall officials in this city?
Even with divine foresight, one couldn't possibly expect to investigate with such speed, could they?
If the caller hadn't been David, who had just made a great stir at Sparks University, if he hadn't verified it several times, Edward would never have believed it!
Putting aside his thoughts, Edward immediately went to the door of the director's office, knocked, and entered.
The Valley Branch director was a refined woman in her fifties, wearing light makeup, named Jennifer.
When she saw Edward come in, she pushed up the glasses on her nose bridge and asked, "What's the matter, Edward?"
Edward organized his thoughts and replied, "Director, I have something to tell you. This morning, Director David from Las Vegas contacted me..."
"Wait a second..."
Upon hearing the name David, Jennifer's pupils dilated instantly, interrupting him: "Director David from Las Vegas? Didn't he just cause a huge earthquake in Sparks City? Why would he suddenly contact you?"
"Director, please hear me out, here's the situation..."
Edward went on to explain everything in detail.
After listening, Jennifer, who had already been somewhat restless, felt inner turmoil churning intensively.
David had come to their Henderson City?
And was he preparing to replicate the havoc he wreaked in Sparks, to shake the local city hall here as well?
The city hall already had a long-standing cooperation with many media outlets.
Therefore, the National Tax Bureau's notification to the local media about an upcoming significant announcement quickly reached the city hall's ears.
Before this, despite the incident in Sparks City, many officials here harbored a stroke of luck, believing it wouldn't reach their heads.
But now, suddenly getting a tip from the media, many of them became anxious right away.
Mayor Priestley convened all the important members of the city hall for an emergency meeting in the conference room without delay.
"The reason I urgently called everyone here is that we just received a message from the media. They've been informed by the Valley Tax Bureau Branch that a press conference may be held shortly to announce a piece of breaking news!"
"What, breaking news?"
"The Valley Tax Bureau Branch informed the media about a press conference? This... It can't really be happening to us, can it?"
"It can't be possible, the trial in Sparks just finished this morning; it can't be our turn this afternoon, can it?"
Upon hearing Mayor Priestley's words, many of the officials present grew tense.
"This message comes from two media outlets that have collaborated with our city hall; it's unlikely to be false!"
Hearing Mayor Priestley confirm once more, those at the scene grew even more panicked.
It wasn't until nearly a minute later that Sharp suddenly asked, "The question now is, is David still in Sparks City?"
At those words, everyone at the scene also quickly caught on.
Frankly, the local tax bureau definitely did not have the power to cause trouble over their city hall's head; it was probably only that damn David who had the capability.
And as long as David wasn't in Henderson, they didn't have much to fear!
"I've already ordered people to check, and there's no clear information yet. However, Sparks is very close to our Henderson City; if he wants to come over, it would only take a moment..."
