David shrugged, a look of "I've already made myself clear" on his face.
But this gesture infuriated Bellamy, who was already on the verge of blowing his top. He said viciously, "Fine, there are only a few days left in the evaluation period, and I really want to see how you're going to get your hands on GCO's funds!"
At this point, there was no use in beating around the bush.
"Well, you will see," David replied.
Without wasting more words, David stood up, pushed the door open, and left. Once outside the Long Beach Branch building, he immediately dialed a number.
Meanwhile, at Washington D.C. Headquarters.
With the evaluation period approaching, Deputy Director Donald was swamped with an endless list of tasks, running himself ragged.
While he was intently reviewing data from branches across the country, the vibrating phone on his desk interrupted his focus.
He picked it up and, upon seeing the incoming call was from David, answered immediately, "What's the matter, David?"
"Deputy Director Donald, there's been a complication here, and I believe it's necessary to report it to you and the higher-ups at headquarters. Here's what's happened..."
David detailed the situation with the GCO Corporation funds being frozen.
And after hearing his report, even Deputy Director Donald was taken aback.
GCO Corporation?
Almost 80 million in taxes in a single transaction?
How on earth did David manage that?
"Understood."
Donald immediately stood up and headed toward the conference room.
Upon arriving, he saw that, apart from Obadiah and Welton Heng, all the other top officials from the IRS were present.
It was evident that many of the upper-level officials were perplexed by Donald's sudden call for an emergency meeting.
However, some individuals, like Welton Heng and Rohan, appeared as usual as if they had some prior knowledge.
"Deputy Director Donald, what's so urgent that you had to gather us here?" Obadiah was the first to speak up, knowing well that unless it was a major issue, his deputy director would never call a full meeting of higher-ups so urgently.
"Yes, Director," Donald affirmed.
After taking his seat and scanning the room, Donald began, "Our 'Making a Deity' project encourages fair competition among us, but just now, I received a complaint from David of the Lake District Sub-Bureau Branch. He claims that his tax funds were maliciously frozen by the Los Angeles Long Beach Branch. I believe this matter is of a very severe nature!"
"What, the Long Beach Branch froze David's tax funds?"
"Hold on... Isn't David's jurisdiction in Las Vegas? How could the Long Beach Branch freeze his funds?"
"The Long Beach Branch maliciously froze David's funds, really?"
Upon hearing Donald's words, the room immediately erupted in astonishment, and many uninformed high-level officials were baffled.
Logically speaking, David's jurisdiction was in Las Vegas, or at the broadest, the state of Nevada.
And Los Angeles is in California State, which is utterly unrelated. How could there have been any conflict or malicious freezing of funds?
Obadiah was just as confounded and asked, "What's going on, Deputy Director Donald? Explain clearly!"
