Wearing a black, very elegant, and reeking of wealth, suit, Joseph Wo was standing on the other side. His face was serious, indicating that the matter which led him to me was also serious. Behind him, I noticed a limo parked on the street with a few bodyguards hanging around it. They came from a different car, parked right next to the one belonging to their boss.
- My son was kidnaped - he informed me.
- I had nothing to do... with that... - words left my mouth, but in the middle of the sentence I realized that Celestine and Tihana were with him. - Who? Do you know who?
- A drug cartel.
- A drug cartel? Which one? Do you know any details? - words left my mouth like shot from a machine gun.
- No. the police are investigating. I've been notified, and immediately sent people to look into this on my own. I also contacted the FBI. You might not be contacted about this. It might take a while for them to link with your daughter and then find you. Some people who were on the scene were linked to drug smuggling, and my experts believe they are from a cartel. My son, apparently, was giving your girlfriend and daughter a ride, but their car got blocked, and then some men just pulled them out and took them under threat of guns - he explained. - FBI believes they will contact me soon.
As he spoke the last words, he turned around, pointing with an open hand at the men by his car, whom I took as the bodyguards.
- I'll find them - I said.
I couldn't control myself, and some of my skills began activating. The shadow vision filled my veins with the void essence,e turning them black. Smoke came out of my, now dark, hair, just as from the exposed skin.
It freaked the shit out of the agents. Even Joseph stepped back.
- Calm down - he said. - You need your thoughts to be clear at this moment. We can't allow ourselves to make any mistakes. The FBI suggests we should wait for contact, and try to locate the kidnappers.
He was right about remaining calm. I knew it immediately, so I pushed the anger away, and quickly ran through my skills to check if I had something which would allow me to find them quickly,y but I didn't.
- Fuck - left my mouth, as I made the essence disappear, transforming into my normal self.
- Please, come with me - he proposed.
- Fine, but we are not going to sit idle. I can find them faster than anybody, just get me to whoever told you that the guys who kidnapped them were from a cartel - was my response.
- FBI... - he started.
- I don't give a shit about the FBI. I can find them faster, just point me in the right direction - I growled, interrupting him.
I saw the hesitation in his eyes. he slowly opened his mouth, and said:
- I've been told you are a skilled person. If you say you can do that, I will trust your words. Come - then he turned around, and headed straight to the car.
I noticed the agents going to their vehicles while speaking through comms. They seemed to have earpieces, and microphones attached to the sleeves of their jackets, or maybe shirts.
We got into a car, and mister Wu immediately pulled out his phone. He picked up the number and then began speaking:
- It's me. We need to meet as soon as possible. I'm on my way to your office. Yes. I am aware. Stop and come to your office - he said and then hugged up.
I listened carefully.
- Was that the man who linked the kidnappers to the cartel? - I asked.
- Yes. He is a private detective - he explained.
Our talk got interrupted, though, because his phone rang once again. He picked it up.
- Yes, agent? No. We are on our way to the office of my associate. Yes, I know. Yes. No. No. There is a new option,w which might be safer and faster. I'm aware. I will explore this option anyway. If they want to call, then I'm gonna pick up. Yes, but you wouldn't be able to find them anyway. They won't get caught like that if they are really linked to a cartel. No. I'm hunting up - and he did what he said he would do, then sighed, turning his attention back to me. - They want me to travel to my house and wait there for the call from the kidnappers.
- You don't live here, do you? What the heck are you even doing here? - I asked.
- No, and I'm here because of you. My son was fixing his mistakes. I was afraid he might not succeed, and traveled here, to resolve the situation in that case - he explained. - I doubt the kidnapers even know that I'm here... I have to apologize. I feel if I wasn't pushing him so far to do this, your family wouldn't end up kidnapped.
- It doesn't matter - I said. - I'm gonna fix it. I will fix it today, and that fucking cartel, if they really are behind this, won't exist tomorrow.
There was so much intent in my voice, as I was speaking those words, that he looked like he believed them all without any additional questions. It was as if he knew I was speaking the truth.
- I will make sure we find them as fast as possible - he said. - Go faster! To mister David's office.
He spoke to the driver, increasing the volume of his voice. The man behind the wheel listened, and I could feel the vehicle accelerating.
I closed my eyes briefly, to make sure I had my emotions under control, because every time I spoke, I could feel the anger building up. Even one thought about Tihana or Celestine was making my blood boil. Whoever dared to rise their hands on them was gonna lose that fucking hand. I knew that mercy wouldn't be an option as soon as I got those people in my hands.
