The first thing that happened as I crossed the entrance was that the boss woke up. He leaped forward, landing heavily in front of me, destroying the ground and rising a cloud of sand mixed with dust, then he smacked me with his morgenstern.
I got yanked into the air and slammed into the wall. He seized the moment, to follow me, just to ram me even more into the wall with his shoulder, trashing the wall in the process.
I tried to kick him off me, but I only got myself pushed deeper into the stone. The difference in weight was simply too big. I had no other choice but to shadow walk behind that asshole. Then I kicked him with all my might, which shattered his armor turning him into smoke.
He definitely was tough. I would have problems piercing his defenses if we were both on comparable levels of strength. Unfortunately for him, the difference was just too massive.
I picked the crystal, wondering what class he unlocked for me, and then got outside of the castle. Then I did what I mentioned previously, look from the walls below, at the valley underneath the cliff. It was definitely there but cut quite short by the dome.
I could sense it ahead of me.
This concluded my exploration of that part of the territory. The next step was the last one. The woods where I got rid of both the spiders and the walking trees.
It was late when I returned, but people were hanging around the city center to hear from me. They were also resting after their own hunt.
Marvin and Luces seemed to be the most interested in what I found there since they moved toward me as soon as I showed up. Both had can of beer in their hands.
- How was it, boss? - asked Lucas. - Our trip was as usual.
'
- Yeah. Quite boring - Marvin agreed. - I hope we can soon have a look at other places too.
- In time - I assured him.
Then I explained what I saw on my little trip around the new territories, which brought even more people to me since they wanted to know what was out there. I wasn't wasting my time since I was hungry, so I cut the details and left just the meat of the short report. Then I dumped all of my score on the sigil in the ground and sold it all.
Just the amount of crystals made people's jaws drop to the ground. If they knew how many points I got from that pile they would probably be even more shocked. I earned 81 100 600 points from just that one run. Almost one percent of what I needed for the next upgrade, which put me in the distance of getting it still in our first year in Petrograd. It was a fat piece of great news. I almost laughed after realizing it.
This payout put my account balance at 82 531 000 regular points and I also had 777 class points.
As I peeked at them I realized that I didn't check the new classes. The first one I unlocked by killing the pirate boss was a class called 'Leader'. I deemed it interesting, maybe even a little bit useful sometime in the future, but definitely something I wouldn't pick if I wanted to get stronger.
The snake slash bug I killed in the underground nest unlocked a 'Flame born' class, which didn't pick my interest at all. Maybe I would consider it if I would go after strengthening my fire-based abilities, but they were already powerful enough, so I kinda ignored it.
The third, though, picked my interest. Not as something I would want to get for myself, but it immediately got linked to Martin in my mind. This class was called 'Living Armor'. Something a buff guy like him could consider, as he didn't really like dodging. He preferred smashing things head-on.
As I studied those new possibilities I probably smiled in a weird way, because as I pulled my hand off the device, people were looking at me in a strange way.
- Something happened? - Marvin asked me.
I noticed that he was having trouble with surprising his own smile.
'ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ N ovelBi(n)',
- No. Why? - I asked.
- Nothing - he replied immediately.
It made me roll my eyes.
- So, how long till the next upgrade? - Lucas asked.
- More than a hundred days. Hundred and thirty, give or take. Depends if today's score was a lucky one, or not. Hard to say since I was visiting some places for the first time - I shrugged my shoulders.
- Will then something change about the hunting grounds? I don't want to come out as ungrateful, but I would like to visit some new places and get some of those nice superclasses. - Lucas said.
- Superclasses? You mean the unlocked ones?
- Yeah - he confirmed. - It's decent with the number of points we are getting every day, but the class points are a problem. Everybody wants them, but they are hard to come by. Tihana and John are taking the most. I get that it's hard to subdue those bosses so other people can kill them, especially everything that's stronger than the goblin, but you know how it is...
I did know, so I slowly nodded. Then I sighed heavily, thinking if maybe I could do something for them in that particular case. For me subduing anything around the city wasn't a problem at all, plus I didn't really need those class points.
- I'll think of something. Just don't get your hopes high - I told him, then headed straight home.
The faces of the people surrounding us told me that completely something opposite was already happening. Their hopes went as high as possible. It was irritating.
My anger got suppressed, though, when I arrived at my house, and that is because of the dinner that already awaited me. The family made something for me since I was still out there, hunting. It was a nice surprise.
All happy I sat with them by the table and told them about my expedition since they also wanted to know what I found out there.
