Chapter 894 T.D.O.N.B: Those Who Go, And Those Who Stay

The Great One left us soon after, so we could come up with a decision about who was going to participate in this suicidal mission. Due to Will's proposal, we entered one of the closest jade buildings and then sat around a cubic table that emerged from the ground as a response to our desire.

Even Druoag found a place for himself there.

- I'm going no matter what - Will announced as soon as he sat down.

- Me too - Nobuo added without hesitation.

- We shouldn't put everything in one basket. The army should also have at least a couple of strong people - Hatta pointed out.

- They will have plenty of soldiers - Nil argued. - Besides it's not like there are no strong people in the empire.

- I think the more important question is not who wants to go or who doesn't but who will be useful - said Hatta. - We might consider ourselves strong, especially for having so many hunting grounds just for ourselves the past couple of years, but we aren't anywhere near close to Peter.

- I might have a way to fix that - Will responded to him.

- I might have one too - I added.

- So it's back to my question. Who is not willing to go? - Nobuo asked.

After he said that I glanced around. Hailwic was the only one who seemed to be worried. She even looked at Martin, who then placed a hand on her shoulder.

- You don't have to go - he said.

- If you are going, I'm going too - she responded.

- That's why I said you don't have to go. You are only going because I want to go, but to tell you the truth, I don't. This is simply something I must do - he explained himself.

She didn't say a thing at first, but after a moment she nodded.

- I don't want to come out as a complete dick, but we need clear answers - I pointed out.

- I'm going - Hailwic responded to me.

- So I guess it's all of us? - Hatta asked, then he smiled. - It does make me happy in a way, as I believe that you are my brothers and sisters in arms.

This was enough for Nil to smile, but others were visibly happy too. Especially Ki'rai, but her excitement was coming more from the idea of engaging in a tough battle than getting the upgrades.

- Let's do it then - Nobuo said straight up.

On this signal, I dumped all the crystals I had stored for my wife, kids, and John. The amount was substantial, so all the eyes, including Will's, went wide. Ki'rai had to jump off the table to make space, and still, plenty fell off.

- I have mine safely hidden in Arc - Will said - But it's not this many, so don't get too excited.

- There might be some still left in the wastelands. Probably a couple of ghosts are still walking somewhere in that place too, so you can go have a look after you use this - I pointed at the crystals.

- They are tough as hell - Will added. - I fought two while I was looking around there.

- So I guess we have everything figured out - Hatta said when he stood up and picked one of the stones.

- Yeah. Split them s you wish - I said, after also getting up. - Since we now know the plan, I guess I can start looking at my own upgrades too.

With those words, I left. My brain was already too focused on thinking about what I should invest in, so I wouldn't be able to focus on a conversation anyway.

"Speed and ability to fly through space", I was repeating in my thoughts, trying to choose what class could possibly give me both of those things.

I could use the psionic to travel, but I wasn't sure how good it would actually be. Without an atmosphere, flying was of no use to me. I could probably create plates for myself to run at, but since there wouldn't be any real gravity, that also seemed like a bad idea.

Soon my mind was like a bee hive, with thousands of ideas competing against one another. Fortunately, it all went quiet as I placed my hand on the sapling in Loistavadvaar. Then I spent a while exploring the possibilities.

I had a few ideas, although I decided to actually first get myself up into space, to check what I would actually need if I wanted to travel through the cosmos.

I shadow walked the hell away, and then just flew until I couldn't do it anymore. Then I just ran. It started to be hard to breathe, and I was quite used to that, so I had a bit of a hard time. Eventually, though, I arrived where I wanted to get, tested a few things, then returned with a much clearer vision of what I should go after.
