Atop the city walls, David organized the people to continue their assault. All psychic techniques, arrows, spears, and javelins rained down upon the Reaper Mantis king, but to their astonishment, none inflicted any damage!
"What the hell!"
"Look, the smaller one is losing blood! It's a damage transfer! How do we fight this?"
"We have to kill the smaller one first, then use psychic techniques to break the defenses!"
"That's useless; all of our attacks only hit the bigger one!"
"Our psychic abilities are all on cooldown!"
"…"
At that moment, the two Reaper Mantises split up. The Reaper Mantis king charged at Mike and the others within the city, while the smaller royal-level one flapped its wings, preparing to ascend to the city walls.
The people on the wall were horrified, with their psychic techniques on cooldown and normal attacks that could penetrate their defenses.
How could they possibly fight?
"Alan! Lift me! Mike, taunt the larger Reaper Mantis and run circles around it!"
A familiar and inspiring voice rang out.
"Understood!" Alan commanded two giant eagles to lift the newcomer into the sky, rushing toward the smaller Reaper Mantis.
"Gutmann has finally joined the fight!"
"Nice! Watch my big brother take it down!"
"When did he become your big brother? Have some shame."
"…"
"Hawkins! Build another well in the east corner!" Ming, suspended in midair, scattered countless golden plates with a wave of his hand.
"Alright! Got it!" Hawkins shouted to those around him, "Hurry up, pick them up, and follow me to build the well!"
"Damn! Gutmann is so rich!"
"What a selfless act of dedication!"
"Such a good person!"
"…"
Then, a voice resounded from the sky, "Hawkins, make sure my golden plates carefully. After we're done, I want every single one returned to me!"
"…"
Meanwhile, as the Reaper Mantis king was about to ascend to the city walls, everyone watched Gutmann, holding a spear in one hand and a chainsaw in the other, descend from the heavens onto the back of the airborne Reaper Mantis. Simultaneously, he gripped the spear and forcefully thrust it into the creature's back. The spear broke through the defenses and armor, piercing the Mantis king's back.
Then, everyone saw him gripping the spear shaft with one hand to steady himself while activating the chainsaw with the other! The buzzing sound of the chainsaw was like a symphony of victory playing in their ears. They watched the man in the crocodile skin armor, skillfully wielding the chainsaw, cutting through the base of the Reaper Mantis's left wing. His movements shifted with the Reaper Mantis's act, each attack extremely perilous yet effortlessly resolved by him.
"Today, I've truly seen something new. Just look at his elegant movements, so smooth that it's giving me goosebumps."
"You have no idea, but he's a long-range roaming hunter."
"Damn! How can a long-range hunter be so proficient in close combat? He's like the pinnacle of close-quarters combat in our District 109!"
"It's because your guy's close combat skills are garbage!" David glanced at them and continued to watch the battle.
The people around them fell silent, knowing he was right.
The buzzing chainsaw vibrated and finally severed one of the Reaper Mantis king's wings. At the same time, it lost its balance in midair and began to plummet rapidly!
Ming held onto the spear shaft tightly, pulling it out of the Mantis king's back just before hitting the ground, and quickly glanced over at Mike, who was being chased by the Reaper Mantis king. As he watched the scythe falling, it would soon slice open Mike's back.
Ming took out his crossbow and fired seven arrows, deflecting the Reaper Mantis's scythe and causing it to miss Mike. The scythe struck the ground, creating a deep fissure.
Suddenly, the Reaper Mantis king disappeared!
"What the hell! What's going on?"
"Did it go invisible?"
"Mike, be careful! That thing went invisible!" The people on the city wall shouted down.
"Damn it!"
Mike barely managed to maintain some distance from the Reaper Mantis king due to his temporarily increased attributes. However, he was still slower than the creature, and the distance between them was slowly closing. Now, with his power boost about to end and the Mantis king turning invisible, it seemed like a death sentence.
"Alan!" Ming looked at Alan, who was gulping down a potion to restore his psychic power.
"Gulp~ Got it~ Gulp~ Mike, hold on!" Alan quickly drank the potion.
"Hurry up! If you're too slow, you'll be looking at my Body!!"
"Come on, say something more auspicious, I'm on my way!" Alan felt reinvigorated after finishing the potion and quickly directed the giant eagles to lift Mike into the air. At that very moment, the Reaper Mantis king's scythe emerged, slicing Mike's leg as he took off. Blood splattered everywhere, and had it been a second later, it would have been his head that was cut off!
"Damn it!" Mike, suspended in midair, pulled out another potion to stop the bleeding and gulped it down. After finishing, he threw the empty bottle at the Reaper Mantis king's head, "Come on! "
The Reaper Mantis king raised its head, brandishing its scythe, and tried to spread its wings to take off. However, its wings were riddled with holes and torn from the previous spikes, making it impossible for it to fly. Due to Mike's taunt ability, it had no choice but to chase after the man flying in the sky!
"Mike, use a bandage to wrap up your wound, don't freaking bleed to death!" Alan shouted from below.
"I know!"
"Alan, it can't reach me down there, don't let your eagle keep flying in circles! I'm gonna freaking puke!" Mike, who was carried by the giant eagle, shouted at Alan while spinning in circles.
"Uh, got it. I was just worried you'd get bored," Alan replied.
"You freaking..."
"..."
People on the city walls listened to their banter, and instead of finding it as trash talk, they saw it as a rare bond between the two.
"David!" Ming took out his pine spear and charged forward. With a leap, he landed in front of the Reaper Mantis king, raising his spear and thrusting it toward the creature's body!
