Chapter 81: Heavenly Sword Ballad

“That means we have the same voltage, and you can’t electrocute me. Though your demonic power sure is soothing.”Wang Qi cackled at the Stag King as he rained kicks and punches on the demon’s head. Each time he did, a famous saying from Earth came to mind, ‘knowledge is power.’

He had an Accretion Stage demon at his mercy. [See that? Now this is the power of knowledge!]

The Stag King groaned with every strike, giving up on using his electric innate talent to kill his enemy and focusing on bucking to throw Wang Qi off.

Wang Qi freaked out, knowing he’d be pulverized under its hooves the moment it hit the ground. He gave up hitting it and clutched the antlers while wrapping the legs around its neck. The Stag King only bucked harder. Wang Qi gnashed his teeth through the struggle. [I need to think of something fast. I have to make an electrostatic electric field between us so I can stick with him through magnetic forces!]

Before combining all his cultivation methods with the Evolution Chart, Wang Qi could only make dynamic electric fields. But as he was familiar with Maxwell’s equations or the Celestial Element Series, switching between the two wasn’t hard. Since he combined the cultivation methods, he rarely trained Celestial Hymn Odyssey, having long since studied the static electric field. Wang Qi closed his eyes in intense concentration to activate the Celestial Hymn Odyssey. A vortex soon formed with its center on the antlers, enveloping him and the deer demon.

Wang Qi felt numb all over. Until now, he had the same electric potential, or voltage, as the Stag King, so the current couldn’t pass through him. However, his recent action was the same as placing himself in a closed circuit with the stag and being forced to take the brunt of the demon’s talent in the magnetic field.

Fortunately for him, the electrical demonic power was mild. Wang Qi had anticipated this, the reassurance taking away the panic when the numbing came. He instead used Celestial Hymn Odyssey’s spiritual power to make another magnetic field within himself to protect his organs.

Despite the equivalent electric potential between them and the mild demonic power, Wang Qi was still an early Qi Refining cultivator, while the Stag King was a level above. It was impossible for him to withstand so much power without doing anything. His muscles would seize in pain every time the electric demonic power ran through his body.

Wang Qi gnashed his teeth and worked to enlarge the inner magnetic field. At the same time, the Evolution Chart’s spiritual power deviated, following a new path through his body, making sure to include the areas the demonic power affected.

Once it joined in, Wang Qi’s pain was practically gone. Evolution Chart’s spiritual power tweaked its path every second to fight back the invading demonic power.

[Is this how one develops electrical resistance?]

Wang Qi spared his situation a moment, raising an eyebrow in surprise.

[With a situation like this where one’s pushed and has experience to rely on, the longer it lasts, the better!]

Stag King sensed some of its demonic power escaping its control, moving into that vile midget on its head, and thought he was trying to take it for himself. Panic set in, and its bucking only grew wilder. Wang Qi’s only fear was that its thrashing would hurt his buddies, so he yanked at the antlers while yelling, “This way!”

In pain, the Stag King was forced to move away from Mao Zimiao and the others.

[I captured a Pokemon!] Wang Qi thought in elation, forgetting all about his motion sickness. As the Stag King bucked about, he sang, “Oh, na, na, na…”

The Divine Province and Earth had different tunes when it came to music. Wang Qi was an amateur singer at best, and coupled with his memories of the songs being over a dozen years old, his singing couldn’t be more off tune. To his impromptu audience, it sounded more like taunts. Thanks to the Stag King’s bucking and adding the Doppler effect to the mix, Wang Qi’s voice kept going high and low with every jump and landing of the stag. Even the baffled and impressionable Mao Zimiao, had to cover her ears, wishing nothing more than to sock him.

Zhen Chanzi’s patience was the shortest: “Brat, what kind of song is that? I don’t remember anyone in your village singing it!”

Wang Qi couldn’t just say it was from Earth, “I found inspiration from the Heavenly Sword when watching the Unfettered fighting and clashing swords back then. I call it the Heavenly Sword Ballad!”  Sᴇaʀᴄh the NʘvᴇlFɪre.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.

The Stag King made his frustration at being unable to shake him off known through a groan, forgetting about Wang Qi yanking his antlers and charging for his teammates.

Wang Qi jerked, thinking the beast was after a double suicide and wanted to change its direction. He only got the upper hand in this ‘fight’ because Stag King’s only means of attacking anything on it was through its lightning, and he was immune from it.

He noticed that the stag didn’t reach his friends, bypassing them by a dozen meters.

“Where is this guy going?” Wang Qi wondered, pausing his kicks and punches. The Stag King noticed he stopped and sped up as its antlers flickered blue. Wang Qi thought the demon wasn’t giving up using electric attacks, but then he found the Stag King had dipped its head and unleashed a lightning strike ahead.

The trees in front were charred, with a huge figure appearing on one.

The thick limbs, black hair, and white whiskers felt familiar to Wang Qi. A Ghost Ape!

This one was different from the two Wang Qi chased off. The Ghost Ape was far larger and felt stronger, in mid Accretion Stage! What was more, it had a violent aura, itching to maul anything that moved.

Wang Qi’s eyes met the primate demon’s and he shivered. He was certain then and there that it came from the fighting zone.

The fighting zone allowed for indiscriminate hunting. Under Spirit Beast Mountain’s arts speeding up evolution, the fighting zone’s demons became more aggressive and violent, while also learning how to hide. Ghost Ape was a yin demon and knew how to sneak, while this particular specimen even awoke its concealing innate talent, escaping Su Junyu’s spiritual sense detection.

The Thunder Clap Stag and Ghost Ape were natural enemies, sensitive to each other’s auras. The Stag King noticed the Ghost Ape and led his herd to attack it. Because Su Junyu missed its presence, they thought the herd was after the team, so they moved to block them.

As to why this Ghost Ape happened to be here…

Wang Qi’s eyes turned sinister.

The demons in the fighting zone were hostile to humans, and this place just happened to have four at the Qi Refining Realm. It was obvious by a mile what it intended.
