Chapter 184: He’s a man, not a god! How is he doing this?

Wang Yun just secured his grip on the small stone when unexpectedly, it began to crumble under his weight. This startling turn of events left him shocked as the stone gave way with a crisp snap.

The stone tore, and Wang Yun started to slide downwards.

At that moment, he was over twenty meters above the ground. Falling from such a height could mean certain death unless he somehow defied the odds.

Instantly, everyone watching the live broadcast screamed in shock, their cries scaring even their neighbors. The chat in the livestream momentarily paused. No one had the mind to type.

In the midst of his rapid descent, Wang Yun’s reflexes kicked in. He slid down about five meters before his hand caught a small branch protruding from a crack in the rock.

Wang Yun clung to the branch, gasping for breath.

Relief washed over everyone in the livestream as they collectively exhaled.

“Big Brother, please be careful, there are no safety measures here,” the executive producer exclaimed, his voice trembling with fear.

Wang Yun took a moment to steady his nerves.

“It’s fine, don’t worry, I won’t die before I get paid,” Wang Yun said, feigning calm.

The next second, his gaze shifted to the bare mountain ahead of him. It was indeed a tricky situation. As he had fallen, some sand and pebbles had tumbled down too. The noise was minimal, but if anyone below heard it, it could spell trouble for him.

“What should Big Brother do now? It looks like there are no cracks around him to use for leverage!”

“It’s all over, Big Brother is really in trouble this time!”

“I believe in Big Brother, you can do it!”

“Yes, keep going, Big Brother!”

The livestream audience started to shout words of encouragement. The chant “Go Big Brother” filled the entire screen. Everyone’s heart was in a vice grip. They were genuinely scared Wang Yun might fall. A fall from this height wouldn’t just complicate his capture, it could be deadly.

“It looks like I’ll have to swing over to that rock seven meters away.”

After scanning his surroundings, Wang Yun’s eyes settled on a narrow crevice about seven meters away on the lower right. The crevice was wide enough to accommodate both hands.

Around this crack, there were other leverage points available. Using these, Wang Yun could alter his previous path.

Everyone had considered this possibility, but no one dared to believe that Wang Yun could actually scale the mountain bare-handed.

“Let’s dispatch a helicopter to take a closer look. If there are indeed signs of Wang Yun having climbed here, then we’ve failed tonight. There’s no point in sending more helicopters after him, it’ll only lead to further losses. Even if we did catch up to him, by the time we maneuver around this mountain, he would be long gone,” Wu Mingyu said with a sense of defeat.

Wang Yue picked up the walkie-talkie to request support. This was their last hope. If there were no signs of climbing on the mountain, it would mean that Wang Yun was still within the area. As long as he was still around, there was still hope for them.

Silence fell over the group.

Captain Dragon Hand sat on the ground, his hands covering his face, caught between rage and sorrow. His body trembled slightly under the moonlight.

Five minutes later, the helicopter arrived. Its two powerful headlights brightened the entire mountainside.

A program inspector descended midway from the helicopter, hanging from a rope.

Tracking signs wasn’t straightforward. The area was densely wooded, complicating their efforts as they had to be careful not to snag the ropes on tree branches. Thus, their movements were extremely cautious and slow.

After what felt like a long while, a rustling noise crackled from the walkie-talkie. Everyone’s expression tightened as they focused intently on the device.

“There are findings. Some rocks appear to have been deliberately broken on the mountainside, and there are black marks consistent with forceful shoe impressions in some of the crevices,” came the inspector’s voice through the intercom. “Additionally, there are distinct palm prints on the mountainside. Given the size of the palm prints and the freshness of the impressions, we can confirm the fugitive Wang Yun was here.”

As the program inspector relayed these discoveries, a wave of intensity swept through everyone listening.

Everyone clearly heard the news, their faces turned stark white. Wang Yue and Captain Dragon Hand instantly sprang to their feet and, as if driven mad, started sprinting toward the foot of the mountain.

“Captain Wang Yue!”

“Captain Dragon Hand!”

Wu Yaoming and the others quickly followed suit.

“Impossible! Absolutely impossible!”

They exclaimed in disbelief.

“Wang Yun is no gecko, no god. How could he possibly do this? If he can do it, so can I! I refuse to believe it!”

At 3:40 AM, two heart-wrenching screams echoed through the night, piercing the silence of the mountain.
