Chapter 31 – In The City (3)

The unreasonable woman did not even consider the age of the little boy and lifted her arm to land a fierce slap on the terrified little face.  However, a honey-colored hand suddenly stretched out to grab her wrist and flung it aside.

The woman did not expect someone would obstruct her.  Unable to stand steadily, she fell to the side and knocked against the cloth rack.  When she fell, the rack collapsed and as a result, the exquisite bales of cloth fell and scattered on the ground.

“That’s enough!  Do you think I’m dead just because I didn’t respond?  You have no right to teach my child a lesson!   Your mouth is filled with feces and spits out feces when you speak.  Do your parents know you have a hole in your brain?  If you’re sick, it’s best to seek medical treatment quickly and at the same time, you can treat your black heart and rotten intestines.  Hua Tou* cuts open the stomach to treat illnesses, so you can also cut open your stomach to clean your heart and intestines.  It stinks!……..”

(Hua Tou was a famous ancient legendary medical doctor with godly medical skills in internal medicine, surgery, and acupuncture. )

A former President of the Debate Club, Li Jing’er had never lost a quarrel before.

“Mother……”  The wrongly accused Shuangming’s eyes swelled with tears and his lips quivered.

“Good boy, Mother is here.  Mother will protect you.”

Li Jing’er pulled her son and daughter behind her as she confronted both the mother and daughter who were stirring up trouble.

Little Sister Yue who was being carried in a cloth bag held up a small clenched fist as if to stand up for her brother.

“You…….how dare you push me?!”  Where did this despicable slut come from?  She dares to push her?!

“I even dare to hit you, do you want to give it a try?”

She is not a man, so she has no qualms about hitting a woman.  If a person deserves to be beaten up but does not receive a beating, then she is doing an injustice to herself.

The woman took a deep breath and when she heard the words, her anger surged.

“Are all of you dead?!  Why aren’t you hitting her?  Beat her up until her parents won’t be able to recognize her!   I’ll be responsible if anything happens.  Go on, move quickly and if the beating is not heavy enough, I’ll deduct your wages!…….”

The little maid and the old woman at the side looked at each other weakly and pretended to walk forward.

“The innocent should stand aside.  I don’t want to hit the wrong people.  Heaven has laws and the mortal world has rules.  Problems can be solved amicably but you insist on fighting it out, throwing your face on the ground and stomping on it.”

She can still endure if she is being insulted but not if her children are bullied!

“You…….do you know who I am?  This lady is Lord Zhenfu’s………”

The arrogant and proud look on her face seemed to be saying ‘you can’t afford to offend me’.

“Chen Yulian, what are you doing here?!”

A roar that sounded like thunder resounded through the sky and it was deafening to the ears.

The thunderous roar shocked the unreasonable woman and she shrunk her shoulders.  She showed an uneasy expression, her body trembled, her lips turned slightly pale, and then she regained her original high-handed attitude.  Her posture exuded arrogance…….she has the identity of a ladyship, so how can these low species do anything to her?

She was haughty, did not think she was at fault, and ignored the people around her.  She raised her chin high and looked at the people with contempt.

Although she tried hard to show the haughtiness of a noble, the panic in her eyes revealed that she was not as highly looked upon as assumed and there were still people she feared.

At this moment, the bearded man with a fierce look on his face in front of her is the person she fears the most.  The ground seemed to shake with every heavy step he took as he moved toward her and she could feel a powerful murderous aura rushing toward her.

“Uncle, you have to help me vent my anger!  He bullied me…….”

The little pumpkin named Zhaohua stepped forward and quickly complained first.  Her red and swollen eyes showed she had been crying and teardrops were still visible in the corners of her eyes.

Frowning, Chen Dasheng first looked at his niece who had a tear-streaked face and then turned to look at the ‘culprit’ that his niece pointed out.  The wrinkles between his brows deepened and a headache started.  The situation was not good.

Compared to his niece, that little boy seemed to be half his niece’s age and was holding the remaining balance of half a candied hawthorn.  How can such a small boy bully her?  How many people will believe it If this matter spreads?

Without having to think deeper, he understood that both the ignorant mother and daughter, who are unaware of the immensity of heaven and earth, must have bullied others.  He had lost count of how many times he had to clean up the mess for them which seemed to be endless.

Eh, the boy’s mother looks a little familiar………it felt like he had seen her before…….

Chen Dasheng is not a sophisticated man.  He is only good at leading troops to battle and doing things that do not require too much thought.  His ability to recognize people is similar to the fast pace he eats.  After eating, he would forget everything.  Unless he sees that person every two to three days, otherwise, he would not be able to remember and forgets even faster.

However, Li Jing’er who was protecting her children could recognize him at a glance.  It was very easy to remember his bushy beard and it had left a deep impression on her when they first met in Renxin Medical Hall.

She knew who is his comrade and also his temperament, so she felt at ease as she waited to watch the excitement.  Anyway, she was not the one in the wrong.

“Zhaohua, don’t speak yet, and stand aside while I talk to your mother.”

If this sister of his does not create trouble for a day, she would not feel at ease.  She constantly stirs up chaos from her husband’s house to her parent’s house, turns everything upside down, and relies on the powerful name and status of the Chen Family to intimidate and bully other people.

The Chen Family she is talking about is not their small branch family but the family of the famous man, General Chen Rong, and the Chen Clan that was residing in the capital city far away.  They are her reliable support while Chen Dasheng is her backer.

Blood is thicker than water and there is an unbreakable bond of love between siblings.

No matter how dissatisfied Chen Dasheng felt, he could not ignore his sister.  It was also one of the reasons she dares to be so arrogant.  The sky is high and the Emperor is far away.  In a small place like Yangliu County where even birds do not lay eggs, the official with the highest position is only the County Magistrate with a 7th rank.  Her eldest brother is Lord Zhenfu who has a higher rank than the County Magistrate.  So what if she occasionally shows her fangs and bears her claws?  Anyway, if her eldest brother cannot back her, there is always the General, so she has nothing to fear.

“Eldest Brother, it’s needless to talk more.  It’s this little bastard who has a mother but without a father who ruined my Zhaohua’s dress.  I tried to reason with them but the mother of this bastard pushed me and bad-mouthed me.  Quick, get your people to arrest them and deal with them under military law…….”

It would be best to beat them to death, otherwise, she would never spare both mother and son.  This woman even dares to make her look bad in public and make her lose face.  If she cannot vent her anger, how will she be able to calm down?

“Who are you calling a bastard?”  A soft voice sounded.

“It’s I…….”  Uh, it doesn’t seem right, she has been tricked.

The brain responded very consciously without thinking at all.  Chen Yulian who originally did not have any brains was called out by someone and she responded instinctively.  She wanted to gain the upper hand first but felt something amiss after speaking.

Why did she answer so smoothly and as a result, scolded herself?

This woman is very sinister to set her up with words.

Li Jing’er’s words did not name anyone but any discerning person would know who she was referring to.  It was a scolding without the usage of obscene words.

As it was almost the New Year, many people crowded the cloth shop to buy New Year supplies to make new clothes.  Therefore, the cloth shop which normally enjoys good business was flooded with people looking around and buying cloth.  Everyone’s ears were very sharp and when they heard this fluent ‘lowly’ theory, all of them showed knowing smiles.

Some of them even burst into loud laughter while leaning on the cloth shelf.  They also pointed at Chen Yulian and called her a slut which angered her to the extreme.

“You’re the one who is a slut!  Slut!  Slut!  Slut!…….. I will tear your mouth apart today so you’ll never be able to speak again!”

Her vocabulary of curses was very limited and except for constantly repeating the word ‘slut’, she could not utter any new words.

“Why not explain how slutty I am?  It’s better if you can point out all my disgraceful acts.  I am upright and earn an honest living.  If you can’t convince others with your words, then that’s a false accusation and I can sue you in Yamen.”

The brain of this woman is abnormal and is not a worthy opponent.

When Chen Yulian heard she was about to be sued, she did not take it seriously and continued to act arrogantly.

“Go ahead and sue me!  A 7th ranked official doesn’t even pose any serious threat to me!  For a slut like you, I can crush you to death with just one finger and make you never be able to survive……..”

“Shut up!  Have you said enough?!  Who do you want to crush to death in front of me?  Do the law and court no longer exist?  Where did your lawless arrogance come from?”

If he does not find a way to stop her, he will be angered to death sooner or later.

Chen Yulian who had always assumed she held a higher status than other people became very unhappy when she was scolded by her family.

“Elder Brother, I’m your biological younger sister.  You’re not protecting your own people and blaming me.  Other people are bullying us but you ignored us, are you a turtle?”

Chen Dasheng frowned deeply.

“Don’t say that I didn’t protect you but think of what you had done.  How old is Zhaohua now?  Two to three years later, she will reach the marriageable age.  If she doesn’t leave a good reputation that is praiseworthy but insists on bickering with a child, don’t you think that’s outrageous?”

“What is so outrageous?  Take a look for yourself.  This is the first time Zhaohua is wearing this dress and look at the red stains on it.  Can’t you see the stains?!  Can she still wear this dress in public?!”

Chen Yulian who felt distressed over the ruined dress was furious and desperately needed to find someone to vent her anger.
