the cook came barging out of his kitchen with a huge spoon in his hand. He panted, eyes darting from the speeding boat to the shock audience. Demos stepped in front of me, I don't think any of the men was a real threat to us. Since those two could easily punch their way out of any attack.
"What the hell just happened," shouted Agnus. He was the first to open his mouth. Dr. Churchhill took a hesitant step forward. Demos flashed his teeth. He raised his palms with a smile.
"I never wrote that script," he started. "It was never meant to control people. I took Miss Kerry's anxiety issues into account when I wrote your code. I thought that adding this option will help switch her depression to a happy mood. Did you alter it?" he stopped half-way, he had a most peculiar expression on his face. A mix of curiosity and euphoria. Grant just keep a cool face, watching him as he approached.
"Wh-who taught you?" his hands reached out to touch his arms. Grant just allowed him. "That's extraordinary...amazing," he laughed. "Can you change my mood and order me to stop touching you?" the doctor peeked into his face. What the hell was he talking about? It confirmed the guy was eccentric...maybe even crazy. What pissed me, even more, was his dirty hands over my mate. Grant's eyes changed color and the old man jumped away from him as if stunt. He rubbed his hands together while laughing.
"I-I can't believe it," he murmured to himself. Donald, the cook went to join the other members. He asked in a low voice about what just happened. Thomson shook his head. He wasn't sure he could answer that question. Actually no one was sure what just happened.
"Is it why you insisted to have those two on board," asked the young man. Dr. Churchhill grinned at him with pride.
"Ok, I'm too tired to give a shit. Let's go to sleep," he turned towards Dots. "Set coast to Dyneapolis. I don't want to delay. I want to get rid of your people as soon as possible. There are enough rumors about this cursed island already," he walked away to his cabin and slammed the door behind him.
"What is he talking about? Cursed island?" I whispered to Grant. Angus looked up at me, face hollow.
"There are a lot of new technologies tested there. No everyone has an open mind to understand them," he commented.
"What kind of technologies?" I frowned.
"Classified ones," the doctor cut in. A heavy silence settled around the group. The unknown young man yawned then chuckled when he noticed everyone was looking at him.
"Oh, sorry, I guess I'm tired. I think I'll hit the sack," he stressed on the last word. What an unusual language. He was probably trolling. He whistled as he walked away then disappeared behind the door next to Dr. Nadaly.
"I'll do the same. Goodnight folks" announced Angus he went through the same door as the previous man. It left us with Dr. Churchhill still gleaming.
"I have so many questions to ask," he faced Grant. However, Grant lifted one hand up to stop him.
"They will have to wait. Liliane is tired and we need to sleep. Is there an E3 socket here?" the man's smile dropped.
"No, unfortunately, the ship can't hold E3 energy. It would be dangerous to have this level of power next to water. You'll have to wait till we get to the island. How much autonomy do you have?" he inquired. I yawned as I tried to follow the conversation. I felt sudden fatigue taking over me.
"1 hour and 24 minutes," Grant turned to Demos and both nodded at each other. "Demos has 2hours and 36 minutes," he then glanced at me. "I'm sorry but I'll have to go to sleep mode to save my energy. Demos will stay with you as long as he can but he will eventually go to sleep mode too," I watched with dread. I didn't want to be alone with those creepy strangers.
-It's ok, you just go to sleep with Dr. Nadaly
I shook my head frenetically and grabbed on his shirt. I wasn't going to obey his orders. I didn't want to be alone with that strange woman. Dr. Churchhill chuckled behind us.
"It's ok, you can have my cabin. I'll sleep in the kitchen, Olga will keep me company. I don't think I'll be able to sleep at all. My mind is buzzing. I guess I'll work on some scripts," he smiled. With that, he left us and went to the lower level to search for Olga. Strange that she wasn't around when the incident happened.
"Come," Demos pulled me towards the door. I leaned against his arm and let him guide me. Grant Followed close behind. The cabin was the same as Dr. Nadaly's. Demos pulled the two mattresses off the beds and closed the foldable beds back into the wall. He set the mattresses down and fixed the sheet. I smiled at him, it reminded me of our own bed. At least, we can all sleep together. He pulled off his shirt and pants, got on, patted the spot next to him.
"Is this an invitation?" I chuckled. He rose an arched eyebrow at me.
"I'm fear I can't do any extreme exercises," he grinned and patted the bed again. I sighed and gave up. Demos was a cake that I can only admire and not eat. The ache! Grant went straight to the shower. He came to join us a couple of minutes later.
"Goodnight, Princess," he lightly kissed me leaving my lips tingling and went to sleep. I stroked his hair watching as he drifted into slumber.
"How does it feel when you sleep?" I murmured. Demos threw an arm around my waist and pulled me against him.
"It feels lonely," he kissed the back of my neck making me shiver.
