Chapter 35 - Eating People Without Spitting Out Bones

Chapter 35: Eating People Without Spitting Out BonesThe young man surrounded by everyone like a star was naturally Qin Jun.

He chose to visit the Third Military Factory because it was crucial, producing weapons and equipment, essential for maintaining combat effectiveness in the apocalypse.

Currently, evolvers’ levels were not high enough, so the military still played a decisive role.

Hu Weimin, squeezed to the back of the crowd, was extremely anxious. Although he was a big figure in the workshop, in the entire Third Military Factory, he was just a mid-level manager, not to mention in front of Qin Jun, the eldest son of the Qin family.

If Qin Jun was slightly displeased, the high-level officials of the Third Military Factory would tear him apart without Qin Jun needing to lift a finger!

Seeing the workers’ lunchboxes, Hu Weimin’s heart sank. He had swapped the workers’ food standards. Grain now was a hard currency, he had used the embezzled food to keep several beautiful women.

He thought no one would care about these slaves, but he didn’t expect Qin Jun to inspect the Third Military Factory suddenly and at mealtime!

Qin Jun was originally satisfied with the Third Military Factory’s situation. After the catastrophe, the factory maintained operations and production capacity, which was commendable.

However, when he saw the workers’ sallow faces and the disgusting black mush in their lunchboxes, his eyebrows furrowed.

He knew East Capital was implementing grain control, so the workers’ food couldn’t be good, but this mush was too much.

It seemed to be made from cockroaches and other insects, just enough to fill their stomachs but with no nutritional value.

Qin Jun asked calmly, “Is this what all the workers are eating? Who is in charge of this workshop?”

The factory director immediately said, “It’s Hu Weimin.”

Hearing this and seeing Qin Jun’s displeasure, Hu Weimin nearly wet his pants. For him, even a minor figure in the Qin family could decide his fate, let alone Qin Jun, the future master of East Capital!

Hu Weimin rushed to Qin Jun, his face full of fear: “Young Master, I am Hu Weimin, the supervisor of the second workshop.” Sᴇaʀᴄh the ɴøᴠel Fɪre.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.

Qin Jun said flatly, “If I remember correctly, the workers’ food standard shouldn’t be like this, right?”

This sentence made Hu Weimin kneel on the ground in fear. He knew he couldn’t lie his way out of this; it would be a death sentence. His only hope was to admit his mistake sincerely.

“Young Master, I was momentarily confused! I’ll change the food standard back tonight!”

Seeing the usually arrogant Hu Weimin kneeling and begging, the workers felt a sense of pleasure but also a deep respect for Qin Jun.

They wondered who this young man was who could frighten Hu Weimin to such an extent with a single sentence.

Li Deng, feeling a sense of vindication, shouted, “We not only have poor food but also work thirteen hours a day. It’s unbearable! Hu Weimin squeezes us dry, doesn’t let us rest, and deducts our merit points!”

Hu Weimin hated Li Deng for speaking out. If he survived this, he vowed to make Li Deng’s life hell.

Qin Jun looked at Li Deng and saw defiance and determination in his eyes. He smiled and asked, “What’s your name?”

“Li Deng, I used to be a student at East Capital University!” Li Deng responded loudly.

Qin Jun nodded and smiled, “Good, very good.”

He then told Hu Weimin, “Improve the workers’ food standard and reduce their working hours by three.”

Hu Weimin quickly agreed, “Yes, Young Master, I’ll do it right away!”

The workers cheered and knelt, thanking Qin Jun from the bottom of their hearts, considering him a benevolent savior.

Li Deng clenched his fists, feeling that the improvements were not enough, but he saw a potential ally in Qin Jun. Perhaps he could gain more support from him in the future.

……

Qin Jun didn’t stay long, inspecting other workshops before leaving in his car, followed by the factory executives bowing. However, before leaving, he called Hu Weimin over.

Hu Weimin quickly approached, bending to listen to Qin Jun.

“Do you know why I didn’t punish you?” Qin Jun asked.

Hu Weimin, full of gratitude, said, “Because you are magnanimous, Young Master.”

Qin Jun shook his head and smiled, “It’s because you’re talented. You managed to turn these people into obedient pigs in just a month.”

Hu Weimin was stunned by Qin Jun’s words.

Qin Jun continued, “Do you know why I improved their conditions?”

“To win their hearts?” Hu Weimin asked cautiously.

Qin Jun laughed, “They’re just slaves, nothing worth winning. But they have value. If you squeeze them too much, they’ll die within months, and we’ll need to retrain replacements.”

“Also, their efficiency is low under such conditions. Improving their conditions a bit lets them work better for us, producing more value. Do you understand?”

Hu Weimin was taken aback, realizing the true reason behind Qin Jun’s decision. He felt a chill rise from his heart, making him fear Qin Jun even more. He quickly nodded, determined never to displease Qin Jun.

“One more thing,” Qin Jun’s smile vanished, replaced by coldness. “I don’t like that Li Deng. Make him disappear.”
