Chapter 136 Elyon and Caleora, More Angels and Summon

Days passed as Alex pushed himself to the limit, battling tirelessly in the Angel Forest and on the outskirts of the Light Plains.d

The serene golden landscape, filled with glimmering grasses and motes of light, masked the relentless grind Alex endured.

The monsters here, glowing and infused with holy energy, were unlike anything he had faced before.

By the third day, Alex stood at Level 299, one step away from completing his quest.

Alice after reaching level 250 told him that it was enough for now, excited about her new powers and ready to deal with her own [Tier 5 Advancement Task], so she left.

His body ached from endless combat, and his mana reserves had been drained and replenished more times than he could count. Yet, he pressed on, his eyes burning with determination.

He didn't bother taking any items with him as attributes were the most important thing of all.

One more fight.

That is all he needed.

Alex leaned against a glowing tree on the edge of the plains, scanning the horizon for his next target.

His hands gripped his dagger and staff tightly.

"Still not done, huh?" Artemis's voice rang out from above, laced with his usual arrogance.

Alex glanced up to see Artemis hovering in the air, his golden wings spread wide.

The faint glow of his aura matched the landscape, making him look like he belonged here.

"Just one more monster," Alex replied, ignoring the smug expression on Artemis's face.

"One more monster," Artemis mocked, folding his arms. "That's why humans are so weak."

"You're the one that's been slacking off," Alex retorted, rolling his eyes.

Artemis grinned. "Someone has to remind you who's the real elite here." With that, he took off, flying in lazy circles overhead. "Don't take too long. I've got better things to do than babysit you."

Alex shook his head, focusing on the task at hand. He stepped back into the forest, his senses on high alert.

He noticed an influx of angels in the plains recently, probably because of the fact the corpse of an angel was found previously.

Which is why he didn't back away from the forest too much.

The ground trembled faintly, followed by the sound of soft growls.

Alex froze, his hand tightening on his blade.

From the shadows of the forest, a massive Lightbringer Wolf emerged. Its silver fur shimmered with an ethereal glow, and its eyes burned with golden flames.

"Huh," Alex muttered, readying himself for the fight, "I've found hundreds of monsters here, but that's the first one of this type I see..."

But before he could strike, the wolf tilted its head back and let out a piercing howl.

The sound reverberated through the forest, sending chills down Alex's spine.

"Why now?" he murmured, narrowing his eyes.

Activating his Cursed Eyes of the King, Alex scanned the wolf carefully. His vision sharpened, revealing the faint glow of a golden chain around the creature's neck.

"A pet," Alex realized.

Above him, Artemis burst into laughter. "Oh, this is rich. You've really got a knack for trouble, huh?" He grinned, descending slightly but staying out of range. "I don't want others seeing me with you. Adios!"

Before Alex could respond, Artemis vanished in a flash of golden lightning, leaving Alex to face the incoming storm alone.

Moments later, the air around Alex shimmered.

Two figures appeared from beside the trees, their golden armor glinting in the light.

The first angel, Elyon, stood tall with a regal bearing.

His wings spread wide, radiating a soft glow. In his hand, he held a massive Divine Blade, its edge glowing with holy fire.

The second, Caleora, had a more ethereal presence.

Orbs of divine light hovered around her, pulsating with energy. She held the golden chain that connected to the wolf, her grip firm and commanding.

She cast Radiant Heal, restoring the wolf's health and bolstering its strength.

The beast broke free from the Bony Knights' grip, its glowing claws raking through Alex's summons.

The wolf then swung at Alex, who was forced to try and parry it.

But even then...

Slash!

-83,915!

He got badly injured, a massive amount of blood flooding from his wound.

But for him, this was good.

"Enough of this," Alex growled. Summoning his blood, he activated Giant Blood Blade.

The crimson weapon materialized in his hands, its size dwarfing his other blades.

He threw it with all his strength, the blade cleaving through the wolf and reaching its head, which exploded upon impact.

[Weak point hit, instant death.]

-99,999,999!

Even if you're a god, if someone decapitates you or explodes your head, you instantly die.

Elyon roared, his Divine Blade glowing brighter as he unleashed a flurry of attacks.

Alex dodged and parried, his movements precise despite his exhaustion.

Caleora, enraged by the death of her summon, sent her Divine Orbs flying at Alex, but he redirected them with Chains of Restraint, binding two of the orbs and flinging them back at her.

-2,381,934!

The impact staggered her, breaking her concentration.

Alex continued as he used Rain of Fire, summoning a fiery storm that engulfed the battlefield.

The angels screamed as the flames scorched their armor and wings.

Seizing the moment, Alex lunged at Elyon, delivering devastating Bleeding Strikes.

The blade pierced through the angel's chest, leaving a trail of dark energy that drained his health.

Slash! Slash! Slash!

-192,011! -192,011! -192,011!

Fwish!

[Bleed, dealing 10% of opponent's health.]

-5,000,000!

Elyon fell to his knees, his Divine Blade slipping from his grasp.

In the meantime, to keep the other angel from attacking him, he sent both his undead but also several [Blood Blades] and his [Blood Clone] to distract her.

Caleora, desperate, cast Blessing of the Ascended, a golden aura enveloping her as she prepared a final attack. But Alex was faster.

He activated Fire Meteor, the massive fireball descending from the sky and slamming into Caleora, cancelling her spell.

The explosion rocked the forest, leaving a smoldering crater where she stood.

Then she was stunned.

And so with his dagger he finished the job.

The system notification rang in Alex's ears as both angels fell.

[Ding! You have defeated Elyon and Caleora, gaining 500,000,000 experience points!]

A golden light enveloped Alex as his level surged to 300.
