...
Sterl stared at the three recommended legendary stories displayed before him, momentarily frozen in place.
Before initiating the legendary story, he had planned to craft his own narrative, selecting his own legendary path.
But as soon as he saw the third recommended story, he found himself captivated.
Master of the World Storm!!
He could hardly believe it—
Transcendence
had suggested a legendary story of such global consequence. This wasn't just a legendary story; it was an event on par with myth, perhaps even a
Transcendent
myth!
Ordinarily, most who ascended from third class to legendary would do so through a fairly standard legendary story, like leaving their name in a renowned battle, participating in a hunt for a legendary dragon, or making a notable contribution.
Or they might choose a defensive battle—defending a nation or a city and becoming remembered by its people. There were even simpler paths, like healing the sick, reaching a high enough number of people healed to be remembered and attain legendary status.
These are the usual legendary stories available to reach legendary rank. But Sterl's ambitions demanded that his story be the best possible. Anything less would hardly be worthy of his status.
So, he chose to begin his legendary story amid the war between Orichalcum and Ashen. After all, this was a battle at the divine level!
Once he successfully completed this story, his power would skyrocket, granting him an immense, even unprecedented, legendary strength.
This was exactly what he wanted—to become the strongest. Mediocrity? That had no place in his vocabulary.
However, the third recommended story, Master of the World Storm, had indeed taken him by surprise. This was far beyond merely participating in the war; it meant becoming the central figure of the conflict, using his own power to suppress both Orichalcum and Ashen, becoming the sole victor of this war, sweeping away all opposition, and emerging as the ultimate ruler!
If he could truly complete it, he would become the most magnificent and awe-inspiring presence in all legendary tales and see an extraordinary leap in power.
"For now, I'll assume a new identity and officially join Orichalcum," he mused. "From there, it's just a matter of waiting patiently."
Gazing at his map module, he observed the deity-led forces inching toward Orichalcum's capital under the cover of
Shielding Power
. Sterl was practically itching to act.
However, he wasn't foolish. Acting now would not only fail to provide aid at a critical moment but might also expose his map module's capabilities, inviting unwanted attention from Orichalcum.
In its current critical wartime state, the map module's ability to detect even deities would be immensely valuable to Orichalcum. If they obtained this, they'd be almost unbeatable. And even if Ashen and the other local factions became aware, they'd fear the map module's powers, avoiding rash moves. Thus, Orichalcum was almost certain to complete its fusion and establish itself firmly in this world.
Since he had chosen the legendary story of Master of the World Storm, Sterl's goal wasn't simply to deal with Ashen and the native factions; he would also aim to weaken Orichalcum itself as much as possible.
All he needed to do now was wait patiently. Let them wear each other down, and he would reap the rewards! He intended not just to be the fisherman benefiting from their conflict, but the ultimate master of everything.
In the days that followed, Sterl remained in the royal city, performing his duties under a disguised identity while carefully investigating every detail of Orichalcum—tracking the locations of various demigods and divine-level figures, identifying weak points in the defenses, and studying the formations and field seals protecting the city.
To overthrow this vast royal city, his first challenge wasn't the divine-level beings themselves, but rather the intricate formations and field seals embedded throughout the capital.
A few days passed, and all the while, Sterl kept a close eye on the movements of Ashen and the other Alpha 8 factions through his map module.
These gods had no idea that their "secret" operations, which they had gone to great lengths to conceal with
Shielding Power
, were fully visible under his watchful eye. After all, who could possibly imagine that someone had access to the
Transcendence
map module, observing their every move from a god-like perspective?
"Is it time to begin? How thrilling..."
Sterl's face lit up with excitement as he set down his work and quietly moved toward a location he had previously chosen.
As soon as the battle commenced, he would use the
Blood of the Ancient One
to cloak himself, disabling the formations and detection systems on the gates of the royal city. Then, utilizing his teleportation abilities, he would bypass the senses of every legendary and demigod being, slipping out of the city undetected.
At that point, it would be time for his harvest!
Looking at his map module, he could see the Ashen forces and their allies advancing in three separate directions, closing in on the royal city's eastern, southern, and northern positions. Each route targeted one of the staging grounds Orichalcum had established outside the city, meant to launch counterattacks against Ashen and defend the royal city at a moment's notice.
Unfortunately, Ashen's
Shielding Power
had lulled Orichalcum into a false sense of security.
Orichalcum couldn't imagine that their enemy would dare approach so close to the city for a direct assault! Not only that, but the enemy was striking in three directions at once, clearly a well-planned maneuver to throw Orichalcum's defenses into disarray and deliver a severe blow!
