Chapter 98: Shizi Dogs vs. Daxue Dolphins (7)

Suzy clicked her tongue as she watched Kai move around the court."You really make me feel infuriated without any reason," she muttered, wondering why the boy irked her so much!

However, deep inside her heart, she was also anticipating seeing Kai play. The game during 'Battle of the Handsome Balls' didn't count since they were going against a noob team. She also wanted to see whether he had improved over the course of less than a month.

She just didn't expect him to play without their star player, Yuze!

"They're going to lose if it keeps going like this," she muttered, already dreading how the game was going to progress.

"I heard he's decent in defense," one of the players from the Dolphins' bench said to Coach P.

The old man smirked, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"Surely, not as good as our Chuyi, right?" Sёarᴄh the NôᴠeFire.ηet website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"Definitely," the player said.

However, with the burden of his team's belief on Chuyi's shoulders, he found it more difficult to guard Kai during the game. Since he had been playing with Yuze for three years now, he felt that the older players' movements were a bit more predictable.

This guy right here moved like an earthworm who had been sprinkled with salt!

Nonetheless, as much as he was difficult to guard, he also wasn't that great at offense, which made Chuyi relax a bit.

"This guy must be a new player," he muttered.

'But why does he look so old?' he thought, wondering how he could be a new player if he already looked like a graduated student.

Yuze bounced his leg, not able to keep still while he was on the bench. Then, he turned to Lina, who didn't even bother looking at him and continued concentrating on the game.

"We're going to lose the gap at this point," Yuze said, but again, Lina didn't pay him any attention.

Kai, despite his efforts, found himself making mistakes on the court. His lack of experience in the scoring role that Yuze had left was evident as he struggled to find his footing.

Passes intended for him were intercepted, shots missed their mark, and defensive lapses allowed the Dolphins to close their gap to a mere two points.

Coach P chuckled as he glanced at the Dogs' bench.

"Well, it looks like Yuze's going back soon. I hope Chuyi will take care of him for good this time. We don't want to face them anymore, do we?" he proudly said.

On the bleachers, Suzy clenched her fists in frustration as Kai's mistakes continued to grow.

"This guy, really," she muttered. "What is Lina even doing with letting him stay? And why the heck is Yuze just on the bench?"

The boys in front of her continued to cheer for Kai, though, even praising him despite his missed shots and passes.

On the sidelines, Yuze continued to watch with concern. He really wanted to go to the court and replace Kai. However, he respected Lina and let her decide what was best for the team at the moment. His ankle was still a bit sore, so he also didn't want to push it.

46-43.

"Kai, get it together," Jet said, clenching his teeth in anger as the rookie continued to make mistakes.

However, it seemed like Kai was unfazed, appearing to not have heard what Jet had said.

He then glanced at the timer of the clock and smirked. There were five minutes left, and he already got what he needed.

"It's game time," he muttered, shaking his limbs as he went to the Dolphins' side of the court.

For the past five minutes, he had been analyzing Chuyi's playing style and confirmed if he truly played dirty. He also caught a gist of how the other players played…and he could tell that the Dolphins were nowhere near the level of the Feng Foxes.

With this in mind, Kai believed that their team would be able to beat them even without Yuze.

Suzy continued to mutter her frustrations as the game continued and the gap became closer.

"Goodness. He's throwing away everything Yuze had worked hard for," she whispered.

Just then, she glanced at her phone and saw plenty of calls from Yani and some texts from her teammates on the cheerleading team.

She clicked her tongue and glanced at the scoreboard once again.

Suzy actually wanted to see the end of the game. However, with how things were going, she was afraid that she would only feel more frustrated if she continued to watch.

"Why did I think that this year is going to be different?" she muttered before standing from her seat and grabbing her bag.

"Let's watch a more worthwhile game," she said to herself before leaving her seat.

Fortunately, since there weren't that many people on Shizi's side of the bleachers, she was able to leave without any trouble.

Meanwhile, on the court, Kai was showing a new level of confidence, surprising even his teammates.

However, even then, Kai sensed a lingering skepticism from his teammates. Understandably, they were hesitant to fully trust him in this unfamiliar role. Still, Kai was determined to prove himself worthy of their trust.

Setting his hesitance aside, Kai positioned himself strategically under the rim just as Shanlong went for a three-point shot. As the ball went up for a rebound, Kai leaped higher than anyone else on the court, snatching the ball out of the air and dribbling to their side.

Coach P's eyebrows furrowed as Kai landed on the ground. He wasn't paying attention for a moment, but he somehow felt that Kai's jump wasn't normal just now.

With possession of the ball, Kai wasted no time making his move. Dribbling with confidence, he drove towards the basket, his eyes focused on the hoop.

'Thank you, Yuze,' he mentally noted as he dribbled with more ease.

His dribbling sessions actually helped him handle the ball better!

Then, with a simple short-range shot, he released the ball, watching as it sailed through the air and entered the net with ease.

The Angs, with now their honorary member, Shang, screamed at the top of their lungs, suppressing the disappointed sighs in the court.

With the loud sound, Suzy stopped in her tracks, glancing back from where she was standing. However, she was already too far into the tunnel, and she wasn't able to see what was happening inside.

Then, she let out a sigh.

"Did the Dolphins overtake the gap already?"
