Chapter 431: Chapter 323: Who is Most Likely to Do This?
_1
Because she had classes the next day, Gu Li went back to school in the afternoon.
Mo Shiting was busy and didn’t have time to accompany her, so he had his driver take her instead.
As if they had some kind of telepathic connection, the moment Gu Li got back to the dormitory, she received a phone call from Xiang Xiaoyue.
“Pear, are you back at school?”
Gu Li set down her backpack and laughed, “Yes, how did you know? Your sources are really efficient.”
“Hehe, it was my roommate; she saw you at the school gate just now.”
Xiang Xiaoyue answered truthfully before adding, “Are you free to have dinner together tonight? I heard a new restaurant just opened near the back door of our school. It’s been quite popular lately. Want to give it a try?”
“Sure.”
Being a foodie, Gu Li immediately agreed.
They decided to meet at the main gate of the dormitory area in half an hour.
After a quick freshening up, Gu Li grabbed her bag and left.
When she arrived at the main gate, Xiang Xiaoyue was already waiting there. What surprised Gu Li was the presence of someone she was very familiar with. “What… How are you here?”
Seeing Song Yunque, Gu Li was taken aback and disbelief filled her eyes.
Song Yunque pointed at Xiang Xiaoyue standing next to him, “She said she wanted to thank me by treating me to dinner, so I came.”
“Huh? She invited you to dinner? When did you two become so close?”
Gu Li was even more puzzled.
In her memory, it seemed these two had hardly ever spoken to each other. Could it be that something happened during the few days she wasn’t at school? But that’s not right; as far as she knew, Song Yunque also went home for MidAutumn Festival and wasn’t at school during the holiday.
So… what exactly was going on?
Gu Li was immensely curious.
“A few days ago, Brother Song helped me out a lot…”
Xiang Xiaoyue briefly recounted the incident where Liang Tiancheng came to make trouble, then added, “I’ve been wanting to properly thank Brother Song for a while. It just so happened that both of you returned to school today, so I invited you both to dinner.”
“Oh, I see.”
Understanding dawned on Gu Li, who nodded.
Xiang Xiaoyue continued to explain, “I didn’t have Brother Song’s number originally, but luckily a senior I know did. I bravely contacted him.”
Her tone might have been casual, but only Xiang Xiaoyue knew how much courage she had gathered up to dial that number.
Initially, she thought he would reject her invitation, but surprisingly, just like she imagined, he was very approachable and agreed immediately.
To avoid any awkwardness by having dinner alone, Xiang Xiaoyue decided to invite Gu Li along as well.
This arrangement was great: all three of them hanging out together and having Gu Li as the mediator made their interaction more comfortable.
After hearing Xiang Xiaoyue’s explanation, Gu Li playfully slapped Song
Yunque’s arm, “Well done Little Que! You saved the damsel in distress, and I give you my praise.”
Song Yunque blushed at her praise, “Easy there, aren’t I just doing what anyone would do by stepping in to resolve an injustice on the road? This is something minor and not worth mentioning.”
Once he had finished speaking, he asked Xiang Xiaoyue, “Where should we eat?”
Xiang Xiaoyue pulled out her phone, found the restaurant they were going to on a review app, and showed it to him, “This place. It’s a branch of a celebrity brand. People line up every day to eat there.”
“Is that so? Then let’s hurry up.”
“Okay.”
The two of them agreed and began walking towards the back gate of the school.
Gu Li stood in her place, watching them move further away. Her eyes were gleaming with intrigue.
Was she being… left behind?
For some reason, she felt that tonight was going to be especially memorable.
As Xiang Xiaoyue and Song Yunque walked while discussing which dishes were good at the celebrity restaurant, they realized they were missing Gu Li after they had walked for about ten meters.
They turned around almost simultaneously and saw her, barely detailing along ten meters behind them.
“Little Pear, why are you walking so slowly?”
Xiang Xiaoyue called out to her, “Come on, quickly.”
Gu Li shook her head, “No, you two go on, I’m just strolling around, don’t mind me.”
XiangXiaoyue:”???”
Even if she was strolling, she shouldn’t be that slow, right?
What was Gu Li up to?
Meanwhile, Song Yunque immediately understood. Gu Li was trying to create a romantic opportunity for him.
Eh, eh, eh, that’s not good.
Although he had a good impression of Xiang Xiaoyue, it was strictly limited to friendship, and he had absolutely no other feelings for her.
He definitely couldn’t let Gu Li get the wrong idea.
With that in mind, Song Yunque chuckled and said, “Gu Li, I suddenly realized,
I get along really well with your best friend. Why don’t you bear witness tonight while I make her my sworn sister?”
