C32 – Super Rich and Handsome
“Young master, someone has delivered an invitation!” The butler knocked on Tang Yue’s door and informed him.
Tang Yue was occupied with carving wood with a knife, a method he used to relieve stress. Upon hearing the butler’s words, he paused and looked up. “You’re looking for me?”
The butler’s expression appeared unusual. After hesitating for a moment, he nodded and said, “It’s Young Master Xian. He’s already waiting outside.”
“Young Master Xian? Who is he? Is he really here for me?” The number of people he knew was limited. Hence, he was perplexed as to who could be searching for him.
Observing that Tang Yue’s expression seemed genuine, the butler also felt uncertain. “Young Master is the third legitimate son of the State Protector, Zhao Sanlang. Outsiders refer to him as such. You don’t recognize him? Nonetheless, he has indicated that he came to meet you.”
Tang Yue still remembered who Zhao Sanlang was. “Oh, it’s him. Please invite him in and bring him directly to my yard.”
“Yes,” the butler replied before leaving. He had numerous queries running through his mind. He couldn’t comprehend how the young master had any connections to the Zhao family’s Sanlang.
This Zhao Sanlang had an extraordinary background and was well-known in Ye City. He even addressed the Marquis’s Wife as his aunt.
The Marquis’s Wife and the Zhao Family shared the same lineage but were never close. Therefore, it was a surprise that the son of the Zhao Family came to see the young master.
The butler cordially greeted them and led them to Tang Yue’s courtyard. Then, he instructed someone to serve tea and snacks.
Zhao Sanlang looked around at Tang Yue’s residence, shaking his head in disappointment. “Tang Xiaolang, your yard is so unattractive! How can anyone live here?”
Tang Yue was uninterested in his taste in aesthetics. “What brings you here today?”
Zhao Sanlang turned his gaze away and glared at Tang Yue icily. “Did you forget something?”
Tang Yue blinked, suddenly remembering that he had promised to confess his feelings to Zhao Sanlang and asked for another opportunity. However, he had been so busy that he had completely forgotten.
“Ha ha, my apologies. Let’s sit down and have a chat,” Tang Yue offered, pouring him a cup of tea and placing a glass of water in front of him.
It wasn’t that he didn’t like tea, but the tea from this era was undrinkable. It was made with ginger, peppercorns, and other spices, rendering it as flavorful as black cuisine.
“Stop beating around the bush. If you don’t tell me the reason today, I won’t leave!” Zhao Sanlang demanded.
“Very well, why don’t you stay for dinner at my house? I’ll let you taste the culinary skills of Yueyang Marquis’s Mansion,” Tang Yue suggested.
“Hmph…” Zhao Sanlang’s face was filled with disdain. He thought to himself, How can a Marquis’s Mansion’s chef be better than my family’s cooking?
“Do you really like County Princess Huizhu?” Tang Yue asked directly.
He gazed at Zhao Sanlang and observed that his face had turned crimson. “Of course. The first time I saw her, she became the Luoshen in my heart.”
“Then do you not care if she is married and has a twelve-year-old son?”
Zhao Sanlang glared at Tang Yue. “So what if she’s married? Her husband died young, and now she’s also going to be married.”
Well then, a man and a woman who are not married have no reason to feel conflicted.
“Then does she have feelings for you?” Tang Yue inquired, emphasizing the most crucial aspect.
As far as Tang Yue was concerned, County Princess Huizhu’s sentiments were the most significant factor in this relationship. Only if she desired to wed Zhao Sanlang would he have any chance at all.
Zhao Sanlang hesitated for a long while but did not provide an answer. Tang Yue was already aware of the response.
He pounded the table and continued to twist the knife. “Have you heard about the princess raising the noodles head?”
Zhao Sanlang glared at him. “How did you find out?”
“Don’t worry about that. You must know about it, right?” How could someone who visited the princess’s residence every day and was deeply invested in her affairs not be aware of it?
“It’s just a few toys!”
“……” Tang Yue was stunned. He wanted to give Zhao Sanlang a thumbs up for his big heart. “Brother, your heart is larger than the Pacific Ocean!”
If Zhao Sanlang was living in modern times, he would definitely be a woman’s best friend.
Zhao Sanlang was annoyed by Tang Yue’s words. “Hey, where’s your solution? I didn’t come here to listen to your nonsense!”
Tang Yue took a sip of water calmly. “Your aim is to marry the princess, so your primary objective is to win her favor.”
Zhao Sanlang nodded. He knew that already, but the question was, how could he win her over?
“I’ve heard that the princess had a deep affection for her previous husband, which means she liked him. Do you think you have anything in common with him?”
Zhao Sanlang raised his eyebrows and replied proudly, “I am a nobleman. I am definitely better than her ex-husband. I come from a prestigious background and have genuine feelings for the princess. I am undoubtedly superior to her ex-husband!”
In short, Zhao Sanlang was an ideal candidate for the princess with his good looks, impressive background, and heartfelt emotions.
Tang Yue silently praised Zhao Sanlang. He was one of the most eligible bachelors of his time. Unfortunately, the person he wanted to marry was also a top beauty. Despite having married before, his charm was enough to attract any normal man.
“As far as I know, the princess’s former husband was renowned for his literary talent. Though he came from a humble background, he was affluent and well-educated. I believe this is what the princess loved most about him.”
“……” Zhao Sanlang pondered for a moment but couldn’t come up with a retort.
“So, how would you rate your literary talent? Does it compare to his?”
Zhao Sanlang shifted uncomfortably and answered, lacking confidence, “I’ve been studying literature since I was three years old, so I have extensive knowledge, and my literary talent is first-rate!”
“Is that so?” Tang Yue flicked his tail and looked at him, chuckling. “Even if your literary talent isn’t top-notch, it doesn’t matter. Your family must have many guests, right?”
“Of course!”
“Then ask them to write a few love poems for you. Send one every day to her. It’s bound to move her!”
“Write poetry?” Zhao Sanlang’s eyes lit up as he thought it was a brilliant idea.
“Of course. One more question, how’s your writing? I can’t have someone else write this for me. I’ll have to write it myself.”
Although Zhao Sanlang didn’t know the meaning of “exposed,” he could guess what it meant. “Letters?”
Tang Yue waved his paw and interrupted him. “Even if you’re not good at writing, it doesn’t matter. It’s never too late to start practicing. If you work hard enough, you can write something that will move a woman’s heart. You just have to put in the effort.”
Tang Yue’s initial impression of County Princess Huizhu led him to believe that she was likely interested in women. This type of woman was usually very perceptive and not easily swayed by material possessions like gold, silver, and jewelry.
“If you have martial arts skills, you can sharpen an iron pestle into a needle…” Zhao Sanlang muttered to himself a few times before exclaiming excitedly, “Yes! That’s it!”
Tang Yue doubted whether he could help Zhao Sanlang, as he was the only son of a duke and his parents could force him to marry a widow.
He couldn’t imagine how it could work, and he wouldn’t risk tarnishing his own reputation by making a promise he couldn’t keep.
However, he didn’t tell Zhao Sanlang that painful experiences were necessary for young people to mature.
After resolving the main issue, Zhao Sanlang began chatting with Tang Yue, but they struggled to find common ground since they had different sexual orientations and hadn’t known each other for very long.
Fortunately, they could talk about their own experiences and fill the time.
As the sky began to darken, Tang Yue politely suggested they finish their meal and leave.
The implicit message was, “It’s dinner time. You should go home and eat, brother!”
To his surprise, Zhao Sanlang was impolite in response. “Then I’ll reluctantly stay.”
“Damn it! If you’re going to be like that, just leave already!”
Tang Yue had no other choice but to ask someone to inform the butler to arrange an extra table of dishes. He even gave instructions to the maid to prepare a few of his signature dishes.
He initially believed that the only seasoning available in this era was salt. However, after trying some tea, he discovered that seasoning, rather than just vegetables, was used to add flavor to dishes.
Tang Yue ordered a dish of steamed pork ribs, a Zhuge-style grilled fish, garlic prawns, and even hibiscus egg soup. Zhao Sanlang was amazed by the food’s taste.
Although Ye City was not located near the sea, there was a flower river outside the city which provided fresh ingredients. Tang Yue prepared different dishes every day for everyone to enjoy.
“Tang Yue, did you really come up with these recipes?” Zhao Sanlang tossed aside his dining etiquette and eagerly devoured his food. He gave a thumbs up and complimented, “It’s incredibly delicious.”
Tang Yue broke out into a sweat. In reality, the taste was just average, but for those who had never tried it before, the fresh ingredients made the dishes taste better.
