C37 – You’re so Unreliable?
The surgery was brief, taking Tang Yue less than an hour to finish suturing the wound. Among the four people in the room, one was lying down, another was sitting, and the remaining two could barely stand.
Tang Yue kicked the servant lying on the ground and muttered, “You guys aren’t going to cut open your stomach, so why are you so afraid?”
He washed his hands and approached Wang Zizhao. Bending down, he asked, “Did you observe closely? It’s not that difficult, is it?”
His ordinary face became lively as he smiled, revealing his white teeth and arched eyebrows.
Wang Zizhao’s eyebrows twitched, and he looked away awkwardly. “Your medical skill is just connecting the bones from the inside. It doesn’t seem all that special.”
Tang Yue nodded in agreement. “You’re right. There’s nothing exceptional about it, but as long as it can heal your leg, does it really matter if it’s not unique?”
Wang Zizhao asked Hu Jinpeng to assist him in getting to the bed. The patient was still unconscious. He checked the patient’s breathing and pulse with his hand and found everything to be normal.
Examining the wound on the patient’s leg once more, he saw that it had been sewn up skillfully. The blood had been wiped away, and looking at the wound, which was only the width of a finger, he could hardly imagine that it had been cut open and stitched back together layer by layer.
He couldn’t resist the urge to touch the wounded area, but before he could feel the patient’s skin, Tang Yue grabbed his hand.
Wang Zizhao raised his eyebrows and glanced at him sideways. The warmth and dryness of Tang Yue’s palm didn’t make him withdraw his hand immediately.
Tang Yue gazed at Wang Zizhao and pursed his lips before smiling. “It’s not advisable to touch the wound recklessly. Your hands contain too many contaminants that could cause infection.”
Wang Zizhao was taken aback by Tang Yue’s audacity. How dare he insinuate that his hands were dirty?
“Moreover, it is not advisable for the injured to get up and walk for a month. They must rest in bed and avoid moving until their bones are fully healed, or they may end up crooked,” Tang Yue said, giving a meaningful glance towards Wang Zizhao’s legs.
Hu Jinpeng, who was watching from the sidelines, was petrified. Even if Wang Zizhao ended up being a cripple, no one dared to speak to him like that in his face.
Besides, why did Tang Yue seem to be taking pleasure in Wang Zizhao’s misfortune? His expression was odd. This young man from the Tang family was truly peculiar.
Wang Zizhao pulled away his held hand and calmly asked, “When will he wake up?”
Tang Yue awkwardly smiled and touched his nose. “Well, I have only tested this medicine on rabbits. I’m not certain how long it will put humans to sleep. If the person is a fast metabolizer, it could be an hour. If slow, it could take up to four hours to awaken.”
“… ” His irresponsible words made everyone present break out in a cold sweat.
Hu Jinpeng wiped his perspiration and cursed inwardly, “Young master, you are so unreliable. Do you even know your parents?”
“Alright, let’s wait until he wakes up and then we can discuss other matters. Let me take a look at the document you just showed me,” Wang Zizhao said as he extended his hand to Tang Yue. He was intrigued by the document that Hu Jinpeng had examined with a furrowed brow from beginning to end.
Tang Yue handed over the document and explained its purpose to him. “It’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s just like buying an insurance policy. You don’t need it because you’re a decent person. However, it’s hard to guarantee that you won’t encounter an irrational patient in the future. Therefore, this policy has to be established first.”
Wang Zizhao gave him a quick glance and then stamped his signature on the document with his seal. Afterward, he tossed the hefty bamboo slip into Tang Yue’s arms.
Wang Zizhao was aware of what Tang Yue was concerned about. However, he considered himself a reasonable person. The patient’s family member’s behavior was truly unpleasant.
The surgery had been agreed upon. Many patients’ family members were hesitant to sign the documents, let alone in ancient times. Even in a more modern and open society, this was still a common occurrence.
“And show me those tools of yours,” Wang Zizhao added. He was curious about the large bag that Tang Yue had brought in earlier.
Every physician carried a medical kit, which usually contained silver needles and medication. Wang Zizhao assumed that Tang Yue’s kit had similar contents, but he was surprised when the first thing that Tang Yue pulled out was a large bag full of tools he had never seen before.
