C44 – Really Hard to Understand!

“You don’t even know what a chamber pot is?” Wang Zizhao expressed his surprise.

Tang Yue felt a chill run down his spine and thought, “Of course, I know what my chamber pot is, but I don’t know about yours. That’s quite impressive!”

“Haha…” Tang Yue chuckled. He gave a coy smile and said, “You’ve misunderstood. I wasn’t referring to the chamber pot. It’s the bucket next to it. Look, the flowers painted on it are so beautiful.”

Wang Zizhao finally believed that this young master had grown up in the countryside. He didn’t even recognize a nightstand. He was truly ignorant!

“If you like it, you can have it.” Wang Zizhao thought that Tang Yue intended to use the bathtub he referred to and felt that something was amiss. Maybe he should arrange for an identical one to be made for him.

Tang Yue had an overwhelming desire to slap him to death. Why did he keep making foolish mistakes today? Could it be that he had become careless?

He hurriedly made his escape, but before leaving, he inquired, “What’s your dog’s name?”

Wang Zizhao was perplexed, replying, “It’s just a dog. Where did it come from?”

“Ahem… Can I give it a name?”

“As you wish.” Wang Zizhao couldn’t quite comprehend the young master’s reasoning. Nonetheless, he decided to indulge him. After all, he didn’t have to acknowledge the name given.

Tang Yue grinned. “Then call me Brother Mu!”

“Brother Xiao?” Wang Zizhao pondered carefully. Was he raising a dog or a wolf?

Tang Yue smiled and inquired, “What do you think? The tail fur was used to make the very first brush. This name suits it perfectly.”

Wang Zizhao’s expression changed. He stared at the brush in his hand for a while, then lowered his gaze and asked calmly, “Are you saying… you plucked the fur from this king’s beloved dog?”

“I didn’t pluck it all out. I merely borrowed a bit of its tail fur. It was just a spur-of-the-moment idea to use animal fur. Later, I will share a list of animal furs that can be used to make brushes. There’s no need to pluck dog fur.”

“You can also use other animal furs?”

“Of course!” Tang Yue replied confidently, his chest puffed out. “Sheep, wolf fur, and weasel fur. They are undoubtedly superior to dog fur.”

“If you have better options, why did you consider plucking dog fur?” Suddenly, the pen in Wang Zizhao’s hand felt incredibly heavy.

“Isn’t it… right in front of you?” Tang Yue murmured softly. He sensed that something was amiss with the atmosphere, and he might have gone a bit too far. When beating a dog, one should look at the owner, and of course, one should ask the owner before plucking the dog’s fur.

“Well, it wasn’t intentional. Besides, fur grows quickly during this season. It will grow back soon. Hehe.” Tang Yue rolled his eyes and spoke loudly, “Oh, I need to prepare some medicine for you. Let’s go outside first…” With that, he swiftly dashed away like a gust of wind.

Wang Zizhao stared at Tang Yue’s retreating figure. The corners of his mouth twitched a few times. Then, he resumed practicing writing with his brush.

It was worth noting that after a few more attempts, one would realize that this brush was indeed much more convenient than using a knife for carving. It was lightweight and swift.

However, it had its flaws as well. The brush shed hair from time to time, and the writing tended to scatter. Moreover, the resulting words appeared soft and gentle. It didn’t seem quite suitable for the purpose.

As the butler brought his beloved dog over, Wang Zizhao glanced at the large wolfdog wagging its tail. Then, he looked down at the brush in his hand. Immediately, he felt a pang of guilt for his beloved pet.

The large wolfdog approached Wang Zizhao’s side, its tail tucked between its legs. It nuzzled its head against the back of Wang Zizhao’s hand and emitted soft whimpers, filled with a sense of injustice it couldn’t express.

“I have mistreated you,” Wang Zizhao said as he caressed its head. “Brother Mu? … That name doesn’t sound pleasant. How about I call you Zhan Tian from now on?”

The large wolfdog responded with a low vocalization, as if acknowledging this new name.

Just as Tang Yue, the supervisor, entered with a bowl of fried medicine, Wang Zizhao informed him about the name change.

“Zhan Tian?” Tang Yue was nearly taken aback, almost dropping the bowl he was holding. He gazed at Wang Zizhao in bewilderment and thought, Is this guy out of his mind? Giving a dog such a name.

The mindset of people from ancient times is truly unfathomable.
