Chapter 124: Sophomore School Team

“Ahhhhhhh!!!”A piercing scream echoed over Shengshui High School.

Qiao Sang had once imagined that her contracted beast might help her fly someday, but she never thought that it would be Yabao.

In society, flying-type beasts are usually the ones that can carry people into the sky.

It’s not that psychic-type beasts can’t use telekinesis to move people through the air either.

But on one hand, psychic-type beasts are extremely rare and expensive. On the other, controlling someone in the air for extended periods requires a tremendous amount of energy. The beast’s level would need to be quite high.

Even so, no one would use psychic-type beasts for such tasks, even if they could move people for several kilometers.

Wouldn't it be much safer and faster to ride a flying-type beast?

There’s no need to worry about either issue when it comes to Yabao.

Because Yabao can be ridden.

Just this alone—when the news about the Flame Hound spreads—will cause an uproar.

However, Qiao Sang wasn’t feeling any excitement at the moment.

She cautiously glanced down from Yabao’s back and instantly felt dizzy.

“Yabao, why are you running up into the sky?” Qiao Sang asked in a trembling voice.

“Yap!”

Yabao replied loudly. Obviously, he was taking his little buddy to fetch stars!

“Xun!”

“Xun, Xun!”

Little Treasure ghost cheered in excitement.

Qiao Sang: ...

Lately, Yabao had been so well-behaved that Qiao Sang almost forgot how he used to surprise her now and then.

---

Of course, they didn’t end up fetching any stars.

However, Qiao Sang realized that she might have found a way to fly without contracting a flying-type beast.

And she had to admit—Yabao’s smooth fur made for a comfy ride, and without two giant wings obstructing her view, he was practically the perfect flying mount.

Even though using psychic abilities to fly didn’t consume much energy, Yabao had only just evolved and was carrying both her and Little Treasure.

Experiencing such an intense flight for the first time made Qiao Sang anxious, and she kept urging Yabao to return quickly.

Luckily, Yabao still listened to her.

As for flying in the future, she’d have to test Yabao’s stamina and energy limits first.

---

The next day.

August 3rd.

It wasn’t until after 8 a.m. that Qiao Sang finally struggled out of bed.

Little Treasure held a bottle of milk, gazing longingly at the sky from beside the bed.

As usual, Yabao was hard at work, floating mid-air in the room practicing his telekinesis.

Three bottles of milk hovered in front of him, crossing paths and feeding themselves to Yabao under the control of his telekinetic powers.

“Maybe I should replace the milk with energy meals.”

Qiao Sang mused as she observed how mismatched the tiny milk bottles seemed with Yabao’s current size.

After washing up, she found her roommate sitting at the dining table, browsing her phone.

“You’re up!” Jin Feifan looked up in surprise. seaʀᴄh the NôvelFire(.)net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Mm.” Qiao Sang yawned.

“Didn’t sleep well last night?” Jin Feifan asked, noticing how tired Qiao Sang looked.

“Yeah, didn’t sleep well.” Qiao Sang replied.

Although Yabao had listened to her and returned halfway through the night, they didn’t land inside Shengshui High School.

When they finally got back, they found the school gates locked.

Thanks to Yabao, they flew over the wall, only to find that the dormitory entrance was also locked, so they had to fly onto the balcony to get inside.

All the back-and-forth delayed things.

“You didn’t sleep well either?” Qiao Sang picked up on the either in her roommate’s question.

“Yeah, last night I heard this terrifying scream, like something straight out of a horror movie. It scared me to death! I spent the whole night wondering if something terrible had happened outside.” Jin Feifan said nervously.

“I knocked on your door, but you didn’t answer. Did you hear that scream?”

Qiao Sang shook her head.

“Maybe I wasn’t in the dorm at the time, so I didn’t hear it.”

Jin Feifan paused, her face turning pale again, her nerves returning.

“Could I have been the only one to hear it? It was pretty loud.”

Her roommate really had such a small tolerance for fear.

Seeing Jin Feifan so frightened, Qiao Sang hesitated for a moment before asking, “What time did you hear it? I can try to remember.”

Jin Feifan thought for a moment and said, “Around 7:40 p.m.”

Qiao Sang recalled that she was still on the field training Yabao at that time and hadn’t heard anything...

Wait...

Qiao Sang’s face stiffened.

That terrifying scream from a horror movie wasn’t her, was it?

“Did you remember something?” Jin Feifan asked expectantly.

“Hehe, no, I didn’t.”

---

After finishing a day of training that afternoon, Qiao Sang was about to leave when she was called out to.

“Ms. Qin, what’s the matter?” She asked, approaching the wall.

“How do you feel after two days of training?” Qin Wen asked with a smile.

“I feel darker.” Qiao Sang replied seriously.

Back when she trained at home, she always stayed in the shade. Since coming here, most of her time was spent under the sun on the field. After only two days, she already felt a shade darker.

Qin Wen: ...

Who asked you that?!

She paused for a few seconds, then said, “You can teach your Treasure-Seeking Ghost the move Black Curtain. It can cast shadows over things to block the sunlight. It won’t hurt anyone if you use it on yourself.”

“Xun.”

Little Treasure blinked.

“Alright.” Qiao Sang nodded. It wasn’t urgent, though. She’d wait until Little Treasure was a month old and ready to start training.

“You’ve already contracted two beasts, and one of them is a mid-level beast, so it’s not suitable for you to keep training with the freshmen. Tomorrow at 8 a.m., meet at Training Ground 5. From now on, you’ll be training with the sophomore school team.” Qin Wen got straight to the point.

Qiao Sang’s eyes lit up. So the teacher had it all planned out!

“You should have joined the sophomore team yesterday, but they were on a mission. They only returned this afternoon.” Qin Wen added.

“Mission?” Qiao Sang asked curiously.

“Yes, sophomores are different from freshmen. The students on the sophomore school team all have at least two mid-level beasts. Besides basic training, we also send them on missions through the Beastmaster Association to get real-world experience."

“Though we have six members on our battle team, the individual battle group is different from the team battle group. We require individual battle group members to take solo missions, while team battle group members take group missions.”

“When you join, it’ll be the same. The sophomore school team’s coach is Mr. Zheng Guoping—you should’ve seen him during your special recruitment.” Qin Wen said with a smile.

Qiao Sang thought for a moment and asked, “Is he the one who was a referee?”

“No.” Qin Wen paused. “He’s the one with the loud voice and fiery temper.”

Qiao Sang: ...

“But he’s a really good person.” Qin Wen added.
