C32 – Scared
He was well aware that the Thunderclap Martial Club and the Super Martial Club were bitter rivals, perpetually locked in competition.
Yet, the actions of Head Master Qian Wenwei struck him as deeply unfair, prompting his direct defection to the Thunderclap Martial Club.
In terms of both compensation and growth potential, the Thunderclap Martial Club surpassed the Super Martial Club.
“Duoge, you really have guts. But be ready for the whispers and backtalk that’ll come your way,” Pei Wudi said with a smile. Zhuo Duoge just smirked in response.
He was fully aware of the rumors Pei Wudi alluded to.
Loyalty and ethics were paramount in the martial club world. By switching to the Thunderclap Martial Club, he was essentially betraying the Super Martial Club and would inevitably face the martial community’s censure.
Accusations of treachery were bound to follow.
“The true measure of a person is their strength,” Zhuo Duoge declared, unfazed, his lips curling into an icy smile as his eyes shone with resolve.
After five days of isolation, Pei Yu abandoned the notion of bolstering his physique through sheer will.
“Miss Pei, it’s time for your surgery,” announced the attending doctor as he entered, his face obscured by a mask. Initially, his voice was steady, but upon noticing the young man before Pei Yuner, he was visibly startled.
Stammering, he managed a greeting, “Mr. Pei.”
The sight of Pei Yu brought back the memory of the Head Master of the Super Martial Club’s grand arrival at the hospital to greet him. Pei Yu, a friend to the Perfection Stage Grandmasters, commanded respect from the three grandmasters and the ranks of Fifth and Fourth Grade martial artists alike.
The doctor had previously been dismissive of Pei Yu, maintaining a perfunctory demeanor even after Pei Yu had settled the bills. But the events of last time had left him shaken, sleepless with anxiety for days. Now, he attended to Pei Yuner with utmost diligence, allowing no room for negligence.
“My sister is in your hands,” Pei Yu stated coolly.
Struggling to maintain composure, the doctor replied, “It’s my duty to do so,” beads of sweat forming on his brow as he spoke.
Pei Yuner’s surgery proceeded with remarkable success, the doctor too fearful of making even the smallest error that could embroil the hospital in trouble.
“Brother, I wasn’t scared at all. Was I brave?” Pei Yuner asked with a smile from her hospital bed.
“You’re incredibly brave. You’re my sister, so of course you are,” Pei Yu responded with pride.
Pei Yuner’s joy was infectious, and Pei Yu felt a deep sense of happiness. After so many years, his life was finally looking up, all thanks to the growth of his own strength.
Strength had changed everything. That’s just how the world worked!
