Chapter 69.2: New Skill And Vanishing Fairies
In answer to Aria’s question, Tama invoked his 《Storage》 skill and placed the entire corpse of Treant Drake in another dimension.
Watching how the skill swallowed the dragon’s body put a strained smile on Aria’s face.
「S-Such a huge corpse can be stowed, too…」
But that wasn’t all.
An ornamental box appeared on the place where the corpse of Treant Drake vanished.
「A treasure box, and in the boss room on top of that… I wonder what’s stored inside…」
Aria opened the treasure box and found a rolled parchment inside.
「Is this a scroll?」
「Sukoro~l, what’s that? Is that delicious?」
「Stella-chan, a scroll is a magic item that grants a skill to its user. I… don’t know what kind of skill is written in this scroll since the language it is written on is quite ancient.」
「Nyaa!? Nyaaa! (WHAT!? The scroll was written in the ancient language?! Master, use that on yourself!)」
Scrolls written in the ancient language could give their users an〝Ancient Skill?.
Skills were divided into tiers.
There were Low Tier Skills, Middle Tier Skills, Advanced Tier Skills, and OverSkills. Above those were Inherent Skills, which were exclusive for each person, and a rare tier called Ancient Skills.
Almost every skill from OverSkill tier and above his an extremely powerful potential.
If the scroll they obtained was truly able to bestow its user with an Ancient Skill, it would give Aria a huge boost in firepower.
「Are you telling me to use this scroll on myself, Tama? Even so, Stella-chan might want to use it too, and selling this will…」
「NyAN!!! (DON’T SELL THIS SCROLL, MASTER!!!) 」
「Humph, I have no need for a new skill. I have yet to use my trump card! Use it on yourself, Aria. After all, you’re quite weak.」
「Understood. I’ll use it on myself. … Here goes nothing. Activate scroll!」
The moment Aria spoke the activation words, the scroll dissolved into light particles and her body was enveloped by a dazzling light.
「… Hmm!? T-This is! NO WAY, AN ANCIENT SKILL! The skill name is《Sacred Blade》and its attribute is… 〝Holy?!?」
「Nyaa!? (HOLY!?)」
By using the scroll, all the knowledge contained inside of it was immediately implanted into Aria’s consciousness. Once she learned about the skill she acquired, Aria was shocked. Tama was equally surprised.
Holy Element was known for being extremely powerful - when used appropriately. The owner of that element was said to have a power rivaling that of the Demon King. In other words, the Hero.
Also, monsters of all attributes were weak to Holy Element, including the Demon Race and the Demon King.
Such a powerful element enveloped into an Ancient Skill… It was natural that both Aria and Tama were shocked by it.
「Let’s test this skill.《SACRED BLADE》!」
Aria swung one of her knives in a downward motion. The skill activated and a pillar of silvery light was released from her blade. The pillar of light dug a hole into the ground as if it was as soft as butter.
The skill ended and a high pitched sound, like a word from God, resounded in the area for a moment.
「T-The ground was… Gouged. The range should be around one meter? Such an amazing skill…」
Aria was left astonished for a second time by the casting speed of the skill and its power.
Tama was satisfied with the performance of 《Sacred Blade》.
(Yup, it’s an extremely powerful skill. I guess this much is enough to compensate for my master’s lack of firepower. Moreover, its length stretched only during the invocation time. That means it won’t disturb my master’s movements. It’s not only an excellent skill, but it also has great compatibility with her too.)
「I still need to get used to this skill… I guess we need to regroup with Lily-chan and Faeri-chan first.」
Although she wanted to try something with her new skill, Aria decided to leave it for another moment. They needed to leave the Boss Room immediately and regroup with Lily and Faeri, who waited outside.
◆
As soon as the party stepped out of the room, they noticed the fairies were not waiting for them as they promised.
「EH? Lily-chan, Faeri-chan?」
「LILY! FAERI! WHERE ARE YOU! 」
Stella called out to them in a loud voice. Not out of concern, though. She just wanted to return to Gladdstone and enjoy a hot meal faster.
However, the fairies didn’t show up or reply to both Aria and Stella.
「Maybe something happened to them? Let’s look for them, Tama, Stella-chan!」
「Nyan~! (Aye Aye, Master!)」
「Geez, what a pair of troublesome girls!」
The trio began a mad search for the fairies.
Unfortunately, no matter how much they looked, they couldn’t find them. A few hours had already passed since they began their search, but it was futile.
A bell-like sound echoed inside the labyrinth, but Aria was too busy looking for the two fairies to notice it.
