Heavenly Punishment – Part One
The heavens were furious and not even the mortal world could escape.
The sky, which had been clear at first, changed its face in an instant; the clouds rolled over the sky, bringing blackness down on Chang'an City, and the wind raged, as if it wanted to swallow up the land.
The streets were in chaos and crowded with people as the vendors closed their stalls in a frenzy to find shelter from the rain.
Everyone wanted to spread their wings and leave immediately, except for a man in red with long hair, who walked slowly against the flow of people...
The rain soaked him to the bone and lashed his face coldly, but he didn't reach out to block it like the others did.
There was a sudden 'ouch' at his feet, and when he looked down, he saw that a little chubby boy had fallen over, a fleshy blob that looked as old as A'Zhi.
He froze for a moment and bent down to help him.
The grandmother of the chubby little boy helped her grandson up first, scolding him for running too fast, but with a pained expression on her face, she was relieved to see that he was not hurt. With a sigh of relief, holding an umbrella with a basket of vegetables in one hand and holding her grandson in the other, she straightened up and smiled at Yan Yuan.
"This brat is so naughty, even taking him out to buy vegetables can lead to a scene."
"Young Master is all wet, hurry home, the rain probably won't stop for a while. If you catch a cold, I'm afraid your family will be worried."
Yan Yuan remained silent.
"Today is the day of Young Master's wedding, isn't it? What can't you say to your sweetheart? Even if you're throwing a tantrum, it's not right to run away from the wedding."
After the grandmother finished speaking, she led her grandson into the rain.
Yan Yuan could barely tell what the other person was saying by reading her lips. He was dressed in a brightly coloured wedding dress, with dishevelled hair, and did not look like a peddler or a shopper, so it was inevitable that people would mistake him for a wedding escapee.
Today was not his wedding day, he just wanted to dress nicely and visit the places where he had once walked with his beloved.
He deliberately walked slowly, so that he could slowly recall what he had said, done and bought with Xuan Long here. The memory of ten thousand years ago was as clear as if it had just happened yesterday, and he remembered the day he had held Xuan Long's hand and bought a rattle from the stall on the corner.
The afterglow fell on Xuan Long's handsome face, rendering the corners of his eyes and eyebrows very soft. His beloved was so beautiful that Yan Yuan could not help but want to kiss him, stealing a kiss from Xuan Long's cheek when the vendor and other customers were not looking.
Xuan Long was so thin-skinned that he tended to stiffen up at times like this. Yan Yuan smiled and clasped his five fingers, twirled a rattle at random, then came close to his ear and asked him if he liked it.
As for what he liked, it was up to Xuan Long to figure out for himself.
Yan Yuan knew that Xuan Long liked it, and when he loved someone deeply, he would love them along with everything about them. But Yan Yuan liked to tease him, wanting to see him blush because of him. At that time, Xuan Long was very spoiled by him, and as long as he was happy, Xuan Long was willing to follow him in everything.
But he had lost such a good Xuan Long.
The heavy rain showered Yan Yuan's face over and over again, taking the useless tears away. The streets were quickly emptied of pedestrians, leaving the streets deserted.
People were going home.
But he had no home.
What was once there was destroyed by his own hands.
The sky darkened with a speed visible to the naked eye, the tribulation clouds pressed closer and closer, Heaven and Earth almost merged into one, and at the moment when the darkness was complete, a thunderclap rang through the clouds and lightning tore through the sky and flew towards Yan Yuan as if it had grown roots and feet, landing on him in a matter of moments.
Yan Yuan did not avoid it; since he had made the choice to defy the will of Heaven, he would not, and could not, hide.
The first strike only shook his body, and a little bit of blood spilled from the corner of his lips, but he was still able to stand. With the second strike, half of his tendons and veins were broken, and he fell to his knees, spurting out a large mouthful of blood. Fortunately, he could still move his right hand, so he reached into his lapel and fished an iris jade pendant out of the hidden pocket over the left side of his chest.
The third thunderbolt followed, and Yan Yuan's wedding robe was already in tatters and drenched in blood. He slumped to the ground, his hand holding the iris jade pendant closer to his heart, blood dripping from his mouth and nose, and tears of blood welling up in his eyes.
After the fourth, fifth and sixth thunderbolts had struck, Yan Yuan's mind was no longer clear and he had a vision of Xuan Long, dressed in the same red robe as him, walking towards him.
His heart rejoiced and he smiled at the man who stopped in front of him.
"A'Po... we… are getting married today..."
"Never again… separated... okay..."
This Xuan Long was originally created because of Yan Yuan's state of mind, it was a fake, so naturally, he would answer with whatever Yan Yuan wanted to hear.
Yan Yuan heard Xuan Long say yes, and the happier his heart, the happier he was, the more he wanted to shed tears. Blood tears stained his face, which was one of the most handsome in the Heavenly Realm, and it was ghostly, not good at all. But he remembered that Xuan Long loved to see him smile and loved his pampering, so he didn't dare to relax.
"Then you... wait for me... okay... I am a little sleepy right now… When I wake up from my sleep... I'll marry you..."
"This time... I will hold your hand... and I will never let go of it... Don't worry..."
Xuan Long agreed.
When the tenth thunderbolt fell, Yan Yuan could barely speak. The blood under his body had accumulated into such a large pool and he didn't even have the strength to support his eyelids.
He was very sad.
"After the marriage… I will accompany you to see the sea... okay..."
