"Did you guys think of anyone else who could fill those two spots in? Having two more people doesn't hurt." Akio asked, sipping on his cup of water.
"Mmm, I haven't thought of who else could join. From what I've observed, we have a tank, a fighter, an observer who isn't really an observer and me." Lee Seng answered.
"Olivia isn't an observer but is one?"
"Her power is 'dismantle.' She can disrupt the flow of Dark Matter within a person and/or thing. She can either stun someone or disrupt the flow and stop Dark Matter from channeling properly. It's a strange yet really useful power. She's good at close combat too. She does palm blows to her opponents to disrupt or stun the opponent."
"What about the other two?"
"From what I observed before and during the fight, Ritsuka is probably the scarier fighter between me and him. His style is very close combat, but he has two really powerful weapons. His power has something to do with these weapons he can summon. He has a black sword that can turn the field to his advantage. Swords can be summoned and fly at their opponents but it has a range limit.
"He changed weapons mid-fight and summoned this red scythe. It ate my most powerful gravity-infused bow shot. He sent it back to me and I barely made it out alive. That scythe was literally made for ranged fights or something.
"Evan, on the other hand, is a tricky tank. He has the ability to absorb kinetic energy and gather it from attacks and possibly my power. He summons this shield that stores the kinetic energy and then he can release it through the shield causing enormous amounts of knockback with one hit." Lee Seng explained.
Akio nodded as he took another sip of water. He finally finished his plate while listening to Lee Seng talk about the potential field group members. Akio wiped the water off his chin and cleared his throat.
"And you can fill two roles at any given time," Akio said. Lee Seng nodded and Akio leaned back into his seat as his mind began to think about the group. "I think this group could work well. You can fill for the Glass, but it isn't necessary. Most of the group dynamic would probably be close combat-focused. If you guys can get that part down and work on ranged tactics, I don't really see a problem. Healers aren't necessarily put into teams to fill that role, they're just a plus.
"If you get a healer, it would be a plus. Having an actual Glass at all times could benefit the team too, but that's up for debate between the four of you. I think you should give the team a try. Olivia, Evan, and Ritsuka made it to the Top 3, right?"
"Yea," Lee Seng answered.
"Then you don't have much to worry about. To be honest, I think your team might be the most stacked team in regards to overall balance and power. The other three had their powers for about three to four years at this point, so they would cover you well in your inexperience." Akio thought aloud.
Akio was right about that. Lee Seng would most likely be the one at a disadvantage because he only had his powers for nearly a month. If he were to continue training while at a prestigious school that raised great fighters, he would clear his disadvantage with time.
"What can you do right now with your power?" Akio asked.
"Push, pull, hold stuff in the air, create gravity bubbles, and infuse weapons." Lee Seng answered. Akio brushed his chin with his thumb and index finger, slowly nodding.
"Your power packs a punch for such a simplistic set of moves. Honestly, something simple like that shouldn't be ranked so high in power, but it is." Akio spoke honestly. "Over time you'll be able to create and do more complex things with your power. I guess, for now, work on what you can do and build off of that. If you can do the basics, you can do the advanced stuff."
'And there's this stuff with the Fox spirit stuff, too.' Lee Seng thought. 'It's like I'm living two different types of powers and it's slowing progress for both. I need souls to advance the Fox spirit stuff, but I also need to practice my gravity powers in order to stay ahead of the lucky curve I've had.'
"Don't stress out too much about keeping up with everyone," Akio spoke. "You should focus on your training and try to do your best with the two years you have at the Academy. Getting into the Academy is no small feat, so do your best and climb your way to become stronger, especially if you want to become an Adventurer."
"Ugh, I don't wanna think about this anymore." Lee Seng groaned, standing up. He grabbed his plate and motioned to Akio's. "You gonna eat more?"
"Oh? No. You can take it." Akio waved. Lee Seng grabbed the plate and set on his and walked over to the sink and set them in it.
"I got three days to not think about this." Lee Seng smiled. Akio stood up and started to bring the food over to the counter near the fridge. The two worked together to put the food away and in the refrigerator.
"You got three days to pack." Akio reminded Lee Seng.
"Three days to pack and a weekend of questionable beginnings."
"Transfer day is happening on a Friday?"
"Mmmhm," Lee Seng sat on the couch, watching his brother sit on the other end of the couch. "It's happening on Friday."
"I heard Transfer Day is usually a rough weekend." Akio punctured the juice box with the straw and took a sip. "From what the other Numbers have told me, it's gonna be 'fun' for the transfer students. The hierarchy needs to stay intact, so Transfer weekend is usually hell."
"What stuff happens?"
"Well, transfer students move in on Friday, so that's as normal as it gets. If the Academy students follow tradition then you'll most likely be woken up during the night, forced into one of the nearby field tests, and told you have to find your way out of it before the sun reaches its highest point."
"That's it?"
"That's it?" Akio mocked. He took another sip of his juice box and chuckled. "The Academy students somehow always find ways to booby trap the field tests around Transfer Hell Week. Carlos and Alex told me they've watched fourth years run it like tradition and they don't know how they even come up with half of the traps."
"The teachers just let it happen?"
"Well, one of the mottos of the school is that evolution theory guy's whole thing on evolution. 'The strong will survive' or whatever."
"What else do they do?"
"If you make it out of the field test before sun's highest, you're safe until the next day. If you don't make it out, you're put into some 'jail room.' Alex says its very uncomfortable and you won't get to sleep a wink. The next test happens on Sunday, right before classes actually start for the transfer students. This one usually changes because of the different trends the Academy follows from the Big Three fields. If you want to know, good luck finding that information." Akio continued to explain.
Lee Seng nodded along and listened to Akio begin to furiously drink his juice box, crushing the box to get every drop of juice out. He finished with a satisfied 'ah' and set the crumpled juice box on the coffee table and folded his legs together.
"That doesn't sound too much like hell." Lee Seng slowly nodded. "It sounds tame."
"Just wait until you actually do it. Only the best transfer students get out of the field test like nothing." Akio answered with a mischievous smile. "From what the website tells me, there's like twenty of you guys this year. Twenty transfer students getting kidnapped and thrown into the field test in the middle of the night with their sleepwear. Oh, man, I hope no one's naked."
"It's like you're telling me I should wear shorts and a shirt for once."
"I'm just saying if you got nothing to be afraid of then stay naked."
"Fuck you!" Lee Seng leaped from his spot and landed on Akio. He and Akio began to wrestle with each other. The two fell from the couch and landed hard onto the ground. Akio chuckled as he sarcastically begged for mercy and in a quick motion flipped spots with Lee Seng and pinned his arms to the side of his head.
"C'mon kid, you should be good at this already." Akio smiled. "It's like you don't know how to use your full strength or something."
"Get off, asshole!" Lee Seng began to raise his arms slowly into the air, pushing against Akio's weight, only to get it pinned back down. "If I use my full strength, I'll snap you like a twig!"
"I'd like to see that, Seng."
"Get off me, Ki!" Lee Seng shouted.
"Okay, okay. I win." Akio smiled, releasing Lee Seng's hands and quickly disappearing into thin air. Lee Seng swung his fist into the air, pushing himself onto his butt and quickly onto his feet. He turned around and Akio was sitting on the couch with a sly smile. "You use the same tricks every time."
"Cause it gets you off of me, loser." Lee Seng pouted. Akio chuckled and stood up. He walked over and quickly patted Lee Seng's head before Lee Seng could snatch him.
"You're cute when you pout." Akio smiled.
"Shut up."
