Lee Seng followed the rest of the transfer students back to the dorms. The group of transfer students seemed to make small talk with each other. Lee Seng yawned as they made it back to the dorms.
"Go through the backside! Y'all should have your IDs on your phone to get in!" Manny shouted. He pulled back from the group and slowed down for Lee Seng. Lee Seng rubbed his eyes and yawned, again. "You holding up okay?"
"I really wanna take a nap." Lee Seng answered. The two made it to the small group filtering into the stairwell door. "But if I take a nap, I'm worried I won't wake up."
"So you're just gonna suffer for the next... Who knows long?" Manny asked. Lee Seng grabbed the door and thanked Evan. He pushed through the door and waited for Manny to get in before closing it.
"It's either do that or sleep." Lee Seng gave the two options. He shrugged and the two started to climb up the stairs. "Oh, aren't you supposed to do something? Why're you still with us?" Manny glanced at his watch to check the time.
12:23pm
"I don't gotta leave for another thirty minutes." Manny answered. Lee Seng nodded and they continued up the stairs. The group slowly split. Soren and Felicia leaving on the second floor while the rest filtered into the third floor, leaving Olivia to climb another set of stairs to the fourth floor.
"See ya." Olivia waved.
"Bye." Lee Seng waved. Manny and Lee Seng walked into the Third Floor and started down the hall. Lee Seng watched as Jason and Jae stepped into the room across from the living room space.
"See ya later, Jason." Ritsuka waved.
"Mmm, see ya." Jason waved. He stepped into the room and closed the door behind him.
"Twins with the same powers?" Evan asked. Ritsuka turned and nodded. Lee Seng watched Ritsuka and Evan continue down the hall.
"Mmm, pyrokinesis?" Ritsuka answered.
"Ah, pyrokinesis for Jae as well. I wonder how the Biohuman serum chooses what powers we get. I figured they would be different for everyone."
"I think bloodlines might have something to do with the outcome of your power. My older siblings all have something similar to soul weapons. They vary. I can bind to weapons, empowering it. My older brother, Ryu, can summon a soul chain. Over the years, he's strengthened it through training. My older sister, Rumiko, can create soul weapons."
"There are also theories that Biohuman serum triggers certain effects in your body and creates the power you're most likely to pair well with, too." Lee Seng inserted himself. Ritsuka and Evan turned to see Manny and Lee Seng catching up to them. "So the bloodline theory could be true at the end of the day. Manny and his dad have similar powers. Jason and Jae's family are pyrokinetics. I think personalities might play a huge role in what classification you get."
"The theories on it are still on-going. Twenty-five years of data is a lot but there's a lot of irregularities with people." Manny added.
"Mmm, the Creator and I don't have similar powers whatsoever. He can manipulate an object and have it teleport to his hands if he knows where it is. I manipulate gravity. I think there will always be people who are outliers." Lee Seng agreed.
"Theories are cool and all, but I think you guys should rest as much as possible. You don't know when you're gonna get called." Manny changed the subject. The others nodded and stepped to the side to allow students to pass.
"Mmm, on that note, I think I'll take a nap." Lee Seng spoke. "I would sleep in my room but I'm worried I might not hear my phone ringing..."
"Well, you could chill in our room until then if you want." Ritsuka offered.
"I don't care if you sleep in our room. You can sleep on either bed. I'll probably be on my laptop until then." Evan agreed.
"IF that's all, then we can go." Ritsuka pointed.
"Oh, let me grab the katana in my room. I'll probably need it for later." Lee Seng pointed. The four boys moved to Lee Seng and Manny's room. Manny punched the keycode and opened the door and allowed everyone to filter in. Lee Seng moved and grabbed the katana leaning against the nightstand. He lifted it up and watched as Ritsuka's eyes started to light up.
"When did you get that?!?" Ritsuka excitedly ask. Lee Seng handed it over to him. Ritsuka unsheathed the katana half-way. His eyes started to glow brighter when he noticed it was a gold and silver blade. He noticed the orb marking near the blade and slowly pulled the whole katana out. His eyes continued to follow the length of the blade to the end.
"Four enchantment marks. I only recognize, maybe, three of them." Ritsuka looked up at Lee Seng. "When'd you get something like this? This gold and silver orb mark, near the hilt, is new to me. I don't think I'm familiar with this one."
"Ah, I'm not sure what that is." Lee Seng lied. Ritsuka sheathed the blade and handed it back over.
"Ah, well it looks really different from the other enchantments. Where did you get this?"
"It was a gift from.... a distant relative." Lee Seng lied. "Well, let's go to your room if you want. Otherwise, y'all could stay here, but it would be boring without something to do..."
"You guys could stay here." Manny offered. "I'm leaving in a bit here. You guys can grab whatever you need to grab if you wanna stay here and just stick around. Lee Seng's a decent sleeper, so he probably wouldn't hear you two talking."
"Well, what did you want to do, Evan? You don't have to stick around if you don't want to. Plus, we could get called at different times, too." Ritsuka looked at Evan. Evan was half-scrolling his phone and half-listening. He looked up and moved his phone out of his face.
"I'm gonna go grab lunch. I'll probably chill around afterwards. If you don't mind me ditching you, that is." Evan answered.
"Oh, no, not at all." Ritsuka brushed it off. "I'm not gonna do much either. Uh, how long 'til you leave, Manny?" Ritsuka turned to look at Manny. Manny was sitting on his bed watching the boys decide on what to do.
"I'm here for another..." Manny took another look at his watch. It was 12:30pm. "Twenty-ish minutes. If you can grab to-go, quickly, I'll be here."
"Ah, alright. I'll head to lunch with you, Evan. I'll be quick." Ritsuka and Evan moved out of the room. The door closed behind them and Lee Seng leaned the katana against the nightstand and pulled the blankets and slipped his shoes off. He slid himself under the covers and pulled his leather jacket off.
"You should keep your phone on loud just in case he doesn't show back up in time." Manny suggested. Lee Seng set the jacket on the floor and pulled his phone out. He turned the phone to loud and made sure it would blare loudly at him. He set the phone on the nightstand and settled his head into the pillow, pulling the covers up to his chin.
"Well, I'm gonna nap for a bit then." Lee Seng yawned. Manny made a noise to indicate he heard Lee Seng and shifted over to the other end of his bed and began to scroll.
Lee Seng fell asleep in a matter of minutes. Manny listened to the soft noises of Lee Seng's breaths while he quietly listened to music. Time slowly rolled and a knock at the door snapped Manny back into reality.
'Damn, I must be tired.' Manny rubbed his eyes. He scooted off the bed and moved to the door. He glanced into the peephole and noticed Ritsuka had a bag full of food. Manny pulled the door open and stepped off to the side to let him in.
"Sorry it took so long. The lines were long." Ritsuka said.
"All good," Manny waved. Ritsuka stepped into the room and moved past Manny. He noticed a sleeping Lee Seng and quietly pulled his shoes off and moved out of the way. "You can eat at my desk if you want. I'll just move my stuff so you can eat." Manny made his way to his desk and stacked his textbooks and papers together in a rough pile. He scooted his laptop off to the side and pulled the chair out for Ritsuka. Ritsuka moved over and set his things on the desk.
"Thanks for letting me stay here." Ritsuka politely said. "Did he ever tell you what happened?"
"Yeah, he got locked out of the dorm for the night and ended up training." Manny answered. "Did he tell you?"
"Mmm, he did." Ritsuka answered as he pulled out his food. Ritsuka had decided to eat some Chinese cuisine. They had fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and fried dumplings. Ritsuka couldn't resist fried rice, so he packed it tightly into the container. He pulled the containers out and popped the lids. He grabbed his spoon and stuck it into the fried rice and grabbed the chopsticks and began to dig into his food.
"Lee Seng may be bright, but he forgets the simple things sometimes." Manny chuckled. He glanced at his watch and realized it fifteen minutes had passed. "Well, I'm going to leave a bit early. Make yourself comfortable. If you wanna sleep, you can crash on my bed."
"Ah, alright." Ritsuka answered with a mouthful of food. He turned to wave to Manny. "Thanks for letting me stay here."
"Mm, no problem. Lee Seng sleeps like a rock when he has little sleep, so I didn't want him to suffer." Manny moved over to the hallway and slipped his shoes on. He looked up and waved at Ritsuka. "Well, see ya. Hopefully you guys get good results. Tell me about it later."
"Mmm, bye." Ritsuka waved.
