Lee Seng followed Akali and the group as they continued forward. They were coming up on the spot where the hobgoblin showed up and Lee Seng was starting to get nervous. He listened to the wind rustle against the tree leaves. He could hear the click of branches, animals moving about around them and the sounds of other groups heading to SW-4.
Lee Seng watched as the hobgoblin's dead body was being picked up by some retrievers. The smell of iron filled the air. They passed through the bloody part of the forest. Lee Seng noticed there weren't any bodies around. He wondered if Akali had come across them while heading to SW-4. They pressed forward for a couple more minutes until they reached an opening in the forest.
The sounds of other teams were already filling the space. Adventurers were talking while they worked. The group slowed to a walk as they entered the secure point. Adventurers were posted outside of the point on all sides. Akali and the group moved through the opening and a pile of dirt surround the huge hole in the middle. The dead goblins all around were slowly being picked up and moved into a huge pile. Adventurers were moving about, doing their duties.
'They're actually securing the point.' Lee Seng thought. He noticed the looks he got as he passed by.
"Okay, everyone." Akali's spoke to the students. "Securing a point is one of the many tasks you'll be asked to do. Particularly, you might get stuck picking up dead goblin bodies and moving them into the pile for burning after the retrievers pick off any valuables. You might be put on watch to guard the secure point. Scouting the perimeter is also one of the tasks you might be given as well. There are many cogs in the system that work together to make sure securing the point goes well."
"And what are we doing then?" Felicia raised her hand.
"Good question. What are you doing?" Akali turned and looked around.
"Number 9, are these you students?" A gruff male adventurer asked. Lee Seng turned to see a tall buff, lions mane man walk up to the group. Akali moved to meet the lion adventurer and nodded.
"These are my students, Lu." Akali answered with a smile. "Lee Seng, Jason, Felicia and Ritsuka. This is Luis Crowley. Lu these are my students."
"Ah, good to meet the Academy students joining us." Luis waved. "Did I hear you don't have anything for them to do?"
"Mmm, I was getting to that, but since you're here you might has well tell them what to do, Mr. Leader."
"Well, we could use help clearing the rest of the goblin bodies out to the pile. Any takers?" Luis looked at the group. Lee Seng raised his hand. "Oh, someone actually wants to clean dead bodies? Ha, that's the spirit."
"Oh, I think I'd be suited best for this." Lee Seng spoke up.
"Mmm, he does have unnatural strength. He could probably clear this faster than the others." Akali added. Luis looked at Akali with curious eyes and Akali simply nodded at him.
"Alright, if you say so, Number 9." Luis turned to look back at Lee Seng. "Go help the others clear the bodies. As for the rest of you, I'll post you around the secure point. We need more eyes just in case goblins decide to run this way."
"Yes, sir." The group answered.
"Volunteering to clean up dead goblin bodies?" Ritsuka smirked at Lee Seng. He gave him a pat before moving with the rest of the group. "Good luck!" Lee Seng rolled his eyes and glanced over at Akali.
"Get a move on. I'll be handling some stuff at the hole. If you can't find Luis for more work, come find me." Akali told Lee Seng. Lee Seng nodded and the two split off. Lee Seng wandered over to the quadrant that none of the body pickers had gotten to yet and started to grab bodies. He put two goblins on his arms and then wandered over to a third body and wrapped his tail around it.
He fumbled with grabbing the goblin with his tail for awhile. He never really tried to use his tail to grab things. He always used it in fights when the Protocol was apparent, but actually using the tail was another thing. His tail extended and finally tucked underneath and pulled the goblin up and off the ground. Lee Seng could feel the weight of the goblin and moved his tail to adjust his overall balance. He moved over to the growing pile of dead goblin bodies and tossed the two goblins in his arms onto the pile and then turned to drop the goblin wrapped in his tail.
"A kid got stuck on goblin duty. We might take longer." One of the body pickers chuckled. Lee Seng turned to look at the small group of body pickers dropping the bodies of goblins onto the pile.
"Ah, the Creator's son is helping us?" Another body picker spoke. "It'll definitely take longer then." Lee Seng shook his head and started back to his quadrant of bodies.
"Hold up, kid." The first body picker put his hand up. Lee Seng turned around and four adventurers were walking over to him. "We can all carry two or three goblin bodies. You should be able to do more since you got your tail, right?" The first body picker pointed at his tail that was hanging behind his legs. Lee Seng could tell the others were smirking.
"I'm just warming up." Lee Seng politely responded. "You trying to make this a race? You'll end up losing." He watched the group of body pickers smirks fade and the first body picker moved closer. He had definitely hit a nerve.
"We could probably clear this faster than you could with your tail, animal boy. Don't get cocky. That's how you end up on body pickup duty for the rest of your life." The first body picker snarled.
"Thanks for the advice, but I'm good. You wanna see?" Lee Seng pointed at the bodies. They all looked at each other before motioning. Lee Seng turned around to search for Akali. He found her hovering around the hole.
"AKALI!" Lee Seng screamed. Lee Seng pulled more eyes onto him. He watched as Akali turned and looked at him.
"WHAT?!?" She screamed back. The adventurers turned to look back at Akali.
"CAN I USE MY POWERS ON THE DEAD GOBLINS?!?" Lee Seng asked, loudly. The group of adventurers all turned their heads back to Lee Seng. Lee Seng could hear some of them whispering about Number 9 and the Creator's son. Akali poked her head forward more with a confused face.
"GO AHEAD!" She waved at him.
Lee Seng turned around and moved to the center of the quadrant of dead bodies. He turned to face the body pickers. More eyes were watching him and Lee Seng yawned before moving his hands out. He began to feel the familiar vibration of Dark Matter coursing through his body. He pushed it outwards and watched as the goblin bodies around him began to shake. The energy moved ten feet in all directions.
'I thought I could go further than ten feet. I guess I need to practice more.' Lee Seng lifted his hands and watched as the dead goblin bodies lifted up into the air. Lee Seng listened to the sounds of gasping. He could see the body pickers moving backwards. Lee Seng pushed his hands forward and started to walk. He watched the bodies in the air slowly move over to the pile.
The bodies hovered in the air and he watched as the retrievers and body pickers all moved away from the floating bodies. Lee Seng bunched the bodies together and slowly dropped them onto the pile. He felt the release of Dark Matter and felt the familiar heaviness push onto him. He turned around expecting to struggle but found his body had started to adjust well to his negative. Lee Seng flexed his fingers and watched as a large group of adventurers were staring at him.
They whispered and pointed at him. He yawned and rubbed his eyes with his wrist before turning back to gather more bodies.
"What're you guys doing?!?" Luis shouted. Everyone snapped out of their stares and turned to Luis moving in front of the pile of goblin bodies. "Are you shocked that a student can do his job well? C'mon people! Don't let an Academy student show you who's boss!" The group immediately broke and started to move to continue their duties. Luis turned to look at Lee Seng sweeping the dead bodies with his extended tail.
"You shocked?" Akali asked. Luis continued to watch Lee Seng happily hum away as he swept goblin bodies closer together.
"He's the Creator's son? He can do all that already? It's only been a month." Luis turned to look at Akali. Akali nodded and glanced at the tablet in her hands.
"He has a high power ranking. It could easily become an S-tier power if he continues to train. The only thing that sucks is his negative. He changes and manipulates the laws of gravity to bend to him and in doing so, he takes on some of that heavy gravity onto himself. I'm pleased to see he's adjusting well to his negative." Akali smiled. The tablet beeped and Luis and her looked down at it.
"There's movement in the caverns below?" Luis mumbled. "There isn't anyone down there. Then that means..."
