Ritsuka and Olivia jumped backwards as two smoky red hounds slashed at them.
"Should we avoid lethal blows?" Olivia asked as she slid backwards.
"I dunno. Do we take this as a real invasion or not?" Ritsukas shrugged. The two smoky red hounds ran towards them, hovering close to the ground as they swiped at them. Olivia and Ritsuka began to dodge when a loud pulse noise sped the swipes. Olivia felt the hot energy slash at her body. Her night outfit was ruined as she forced herself to retaliate with a palm hit straight into the chest.
The red hound froze as Ritsuka moved out of the way and watched as the enemy red hound slashed at its teammate. Ritsuka threw both of his arms up and watched as two large Obsidian Glass's pierced the two red hounds. The armors fell to the floor as Ritsuka turned to watch another pulse echo throughout the room.
'It's emanating from the golden one.' Ritsuka noticed.
Evan slammed into one of the three red hounds on Manny and watched as Manny took the opportunity to move straight towards Evan. A purple bolt of lightning flew out and arced, turning mid-air and piercing the three red hounds and slamming itself into Evan's shield. Evan's shield hummed as the aura turned golden.
"Let's go!" Manny shouted. The three moved to regroup with Liz and Ritsuka. The cafeteria began to flash red.
"This isn't a drill?!?" Liz shouted. "Let's go up to one of the boys' dorms!"
"We'll go to mine. Someone call Lee Seng!" Manny led the way with the Fighter and Observer flagging his left and right. Liz and Evan followed behind the three, Liz occasionally tossing bolts of psychic energy around. The five spearheaded the exit and forced their way out with Ritsuka's Black Void ability.
"Get them!" The golden hound barked and pointed at the students starting to flee.
p 'It seems like a lot of the students had the same reaction as Manny and Liz.' Olivia noticed. They all moved down the hall and students in small groups began to quickly reach a door and unlock them, fighting off the hounds following behind them. Ritsuka pulled his phone out and unlocked it as swords flew up around him.
'Black Void: Scattered Augment.' Obsidian Glass swords flew all around the group, swiping and blocking attacks as they turned left and ran towards the stairs entrance at the end. Ritsuka tapped on his phone and pulled up Lee Seng's information.
"They're gonna jump!" Evan shouted. Ritsuka sighed and turned backwards, letting the others pass him. Ritsuka watched as the red hounds jumped, screeching as they swung at him. Ritsuka grabbed a sword and blocked one of the attacks as the other swords barraged and pierced the rest. Purple lightning arced past Ritsuka and chain hit three mid-air.
"Come on!" Liz shouted. Ritsuka released the sword in a puff of smoke and turned to move down the hall. He turned right and followed Liz and the others up the stairs. He tapped Lee Seng's name and called him.
Ring. Ring. Ring..
"Sorry this call could not be reached–" Ritsuka quit the call as he moved into the second floor hallway and followed his friends. He clicked the call, again and listened to the phone ring.
Ring. Ring. Ring. Click.
"What's up?" Lee Seng asked.
"Lee Seng, where are you?" Ritsuka asked in a panicked voice.
"I'm in my room, what's wrong?"
"Open your door! We're all coming in! Something happ–" Ritsuka watched the lights around him die and shook his head. "There's no service! They cut it off!"
"We're almost there! Let's hope he opens the door! These doors suck ass getting in!" Manny shouted.
Lee Seng moved off his bed and over to the door. He stared at his phone and shook his head as he slipped it into his pocket.
"Did the service get cut off or something?" Lee Seng wondered aloud. He grabbed at the door and pulled the handle downwards as he pulled the door open. He popped his head and watched as Manny and the others were running down the hall.
"What the hell happened?" Lee Seng ask as the group started to file in. Ritsuka was the last one to file in. Lee Seng kept his head stuck out for awhile and watched as smoky red and black things were running at him. "What's that?"
Ritsuka pulled Lee Seng inside and slammed the door behind him. Lee Seng jumped and moved backwards when he heard scratching noises.
"Ow, ow, ow!" Lee Seng covered his ears and moved backwards.
"Blockade the door?" Ritsuka turned to look at Manny.
"These doors are really reinforced. I'm just surprised they got into the Academy through all of that security!" Manny shook his head. Lee Seng kept his eyes shut as he backed into the nightstand. Ritsuka moved over to Lee Seng as the sounds of scratching continued.
"Lee Seng, what's wrong?" Ritsuka asked.
"That god awful noise!" Lee Seng winced. Ritsuka pulled Lee Seng into him and moved the fox boy onto the bed.
"We can't do anything about that noise and we're sitting ducks now. What do we do?" Olivia asked, panicked. "Why are dorm rooms the safest places? It feels like I've walked into a trap and can't do anything but wait for my predators to eat me." Liz moved past Olivia and Evan and over to the bookshelves. She began to scan through the books and looked at Manny.
"Will this work without electricity?" Liz asked.
"It's on a mechanical switch in case of emergencies, I think." Manny moved over to Liz. The two of them began to search for something on the bookshelves as Lee Seng continued to keep his head low due to the scratch noises.
"How much longer?" Ritsuka looked up. "Lee Seng's great hearing is actually causing him pain for once."
"Almost there…" Liz muttered. She felt something hard in the back of the fifth shelf and pulled on it. The switch clicked and the bookshelves began to move further into the wall. Lee Seng forced himself to turn and look, watching the bookshelf finish moving and Manny motioning for everyone to come over.
"Down the ladder." Manny pointed.
"What's down there?" Evan peered over and noticed a dark black hole.
"It leads into an underground bunker of sorts. It's to protect us in case something like this happens. Each floor has different ways to get down and the second floor is these bookshelves."
"What about our floor, Liz?" Olivia asked.
"The bathroom closet. Get in now."
"Lee Seng, I think you should go after me." Ritsuka tapped Lee Seng. Lee Seng simply nodded and forced himself up with the help of Ritsuka. They moved over and Ritsuka peeled himself away from Lee Seng and looked at the others "Send him after I get down. Maybe he'll be far enough from the noise to not hear it."
"Mmm, will do." Manny nodded. "Go." Ritsuka nodded and started down the ladder. Manny watched as Ritsuka descended into darkness for a while and saw a dim light at the bottom appear. "Kay, Lee Seng's turn. Watch the door, Liz."
"Already doing it." Liz answered. Evan tapped for Lee Seng to go and watched the fox boy remove his hands from his ears and start to move down.
"Wait…" Lee Seng quietly stopped. He moved over towards the bathroom door and grabbed the sword by the nightstand. Lee Seng moved back towards the ladder and started his descent down.
'What were those things, anyway?' Lee Seng wondered as he slowly moved down the ladder. He gripped the ladder and his sword in his hand as he made his way down. He counted each time he descended down the ladder before he landed at the bottom.
Ritsuka was looking around when Lee Seng casually announced, "a hundred and five." Lee Seng listened to the rest of the group descend the ladders and casually looked around with Ritsuka.
"This place seems… well kept, huh?" Ritsuka asked. Lee Seng moved his finger across the floor and rubbed his fingers together.
"Not a speck of dust." Lee Seng nodded. He turned to face Ritsuka as Olivia landed at the bottom. "What happened anyways? My phone's connection started to bug out with the call before and with yours."
"Some red hound helmet looking dudes are searching for a student." Olivia answered. She glanced around and noticed the room was fairly small. There was a door to the right and it seemed like it was locked. "This isn't hooked up to everything above?"
"I guess not." Ritsuka shrugged.
"Red hound helmet guys were looking for someone?" Lee Seng's brain wasn't quite ready to move on.
'It couldn't be related to what Akali and Akio said, right?' Lee Seng rubbed his chin as Liz stepped down.
"You fill him in?" Liz asked.
"Mmm, basically, but I think he's a bit confused." Olivia pointed.
"Anything you need clarified, Lee Seng?"
"Well…" Lee Seng turned around. "Red hound helmet dudes invaded the school, right?"
"Yup. They invaded the school following orders from this gold colored hound helmet guy. We just followed procedure and… this is happening now."
"What's the procedure? To get into your dorm room and go to the basement or whatever?"
"Yup." Manny answered, landing. He moved over and tapped the button and the group listened to the quiet noises of the bookshelf moving back into place way above.
