Lee Seng looked at the three older siblings. They were quietly watching. Lee Seng cleared his throat and turned back to face Nabi, Zixin and Lady Vix'i. "I guess that answers our question. We'll stay together for now. For now, the Saviors Tomb will always be open to any of the Family that needs shelter. We'll have to come back and finish the sect's job another time."
"Finish the sect's job…?" Nabi repeated. "What?"
"Purge whatever is holding the cursed forest." Lee Seng answered.
"The two lords and the lady wanted us to finish their mission to cleanse the forest of its curse." Keng told them.
"We don't know how to do that, yet, but I'm pretty sure the books and scrolls in the Tomb should have instructions on it." Lee Seng stretched. "For now, how do you guys re-enter the Realm?"
"There are portal spots that you can go through if you decide to travel by foot, but this incantation can help you." Lady Vix'i stood up and grabbed a blank piece of paper on a shelf and moved back over. Her finger lit up and she began to write two incantations. When she finished, she slid the paper over to Lee Seng. The incantations were written in Fox tongue. Lee Seng's brain slowly started to read the incantation.
I walk among the Foxes in the Realm of the God King. I wish to enter the land of the humans.
I walk among the land of the humans. I wish to enter the Realm of the God King.
"Hmm, the incantation the Hatman gave me differs from yours." Lee Seng noticed.
"The incantations are different amongst the languages. Your translation will probably work. You will most likely reappear at the Village, but in the case you show up here, we'll leave instructions on how to get back to the Village." Lady Vix'i told them. Lee Seng nodded and stood up.
"Why're you leaving now?" Keng grabbed Lee Seng.
"Well, I have school tomorrow, right?" Lee Seng asked. Keng gave him a weird look and shook his head.
"No. It was Friday. You have a whole weekend."
"Ah, shit. I forgot it was the weekend."
"You aren't leaving then?" Lady Vix'i asked.
"I should go back and get my physical body." Lee Seng looked at Keng. "I'll be gone for just a minute, alright?"
"Y-you aren't gonna leave me here, right?" Keng anxiously asked. Lee Seng shook his head.
"It'll just be quick. I'll put the watch on me so that way we know how much time has passed. I wanna know how much time has passed since it's night here."
"Hurry back." Keng told him. Lee Seng nodded and turned around.
"I walk among the Foxes in the Realm of the God King. I wish to return to the land of humans." Lee Seng read the incantation off. He felt the world start to distort around him and pulled back. He stepped out of the room and found himself shooting up out of bed.
His tattoo sizzled as the clothes he wore on his spiritual body materialized onto his physical body. He winced and gasped as he reactively went to hover around his burn mark.
"It really does hurt more…" Lee Seng shook his head and stood up. He grabbed his phone and checked the time. He stared in disbelief at the time. "Only 2 hours had passed?!?" He put the phone back on the nightstand and shook his head.
"I wonder if they meant their planet cycles around their two stars are slower. Time moves fairly fast on their Realm… but it only equated out to two hours here?" Lee Seng began to theorize when he remembered he would come back.
"Shit I have to get back." Lee Seng sighed. He grabbed his watch and looked at the time. 12:17 am. He strapped the watch on and readied himself. "Maybe I should bring some weapons."
He moved over and grabbed his bow. He strapped it across.his torso and grabbed the sword.
"Just in case Keng wants to use a weapon." Lee Seng whispered. He moved over and grabbed the water bottle and opened it. He downed the water and wiped his mouth. "Alright, let's go." He set the bottle down and readied himself.
"I walk among the land of humans. I wish to return to enter the Realm of the God King." Lee Seng watched as the area distorted around him. He took a step forward and found himself in the middle of the Cursed Forest.
"Shit." Lee Seng whispered.
'Keng, can you hear me?' Lee Seng thought.
No response.
Lee Seng clicked his tongue and looked around. It was really dark. He wondered if nightfall did come. The cursed forest made strange noises. His eyes slowly adjusted to the dark. He started walking in a random direction.
'I just need to figure out where I am and find the Tomb.' Lee Seng told himself. He jumped up and made his way up into a tree. 'Too short. Is there anything taller around here?' He looked around with his nightvision.
The forest went as far as his sharp eyes could see. He didn't see anything towering above the forest. He spotted a slightly taller tree in the distance to his right.
'Don't tell me the Tomb has changed, physically.' The creeping thought had made its way into his head as he quietly made his way down the tree. 'Let's just go to the bigger tree and see what happens from there.'
He tripped at the katana scabbard as he slowly made his way through the forest. He tried contacting Keng many times but never got a response. He assumed it was a ranged thing that could only go so far, so he would continue calling for his Fox Spirit until he got a response.
The cursed forest has strange glowing vines on trees. It pulsed purple and pink. Whatever did this to the forest, must be leeching off of all the energy the forest gave off.
He eventually came to a small hill and decided to climb one of the trees. He noticed the slightly taller tree was still the same amount of distance as it was back where he came from.
"Am I seeing things?" Lee Seng rubbed his eyes. The slightly taller tree was still the same amount of distance away. He could see a little bit more features now. It was a withered tree of sorts. It had no leaves and the top seemed to be… open?
"What if this is one of those 'walk closer to it and it's further' situations?" Lee Seng jokingly whispered. He took a moment to look around him. The cursed forest continued all around him but this time in the opposite direction of where he came, he could see something was pulling.
'When did that…?' Lee Seng began to think when a screech interrupted his thoughts. His head whipped to his right as a large flying beast sent him flying. Lee Seng yelped as he landed on the ground. The screech started again as the large beast hovered around and swooped in for another attack. Lee Seng rolled to the right as the beast slashed its talon into the ground. The cursed earth slashed into tiny pieces with ease as the large beast flew back into the air.
'What is this thing?' Lee Seng moved onto his feet. He caught the large leathery wings with large spikes. It's talons were sharp and the large beast dived for another attack.
Lee Seng lifted his hand and released a blast of gravity, watching the large beast roll out of the way with ease. The large flying beast circled around and dive bombed, again. The beast screeched as it slashed its wings in the air.
The spikes flew off and shot out like pin missiles. They rocketed straight for Lee Seng as gravity erupted off of his body. Most pin missiles blew away on impact, but a few found their way through the gravity barrier and bounced off of his silk clothing. A sharp pin landed into his neck as he quickly pulled it out.
His vision distorted and Lee Seng began to shake his head.
'What the hell…?' The large beast had flown straight up again and was watching him. 'Is it… toying with me?' The small noise of the sharp spikes regrowing alerted Lee Seng as it began to dive back towards him.
Lee Seng cracked the katana out of its sheath. He listened as the large beast screeched and extended its talons out. Lee Seng released the sword from its sheath and listened to the sword slice through the large bird's exterior. The large beast screeched in pain as it tried to pull away. Lee Seng pulled the bird with his gravity and slammed the sheath into its head, sending it onto the ground with a large crash.
"What did… you do to me?" Lee Seng shook his head. He pulled the katana out and raised it. The bird screeched as it flapped its wings and released more pins. Lee Seng's aura rippled as he quickly slashed downwards and listened to the bird split in two. Trees cracked and loudly groaned as they split in half. A couple more spikes had made their way into Lee Seng's bare skin as he stumbled backwards.
'Shit… Is this a…'
