"Is he okay?" Ritsuka asked.
"Something's wrong, Ritsuka." Keng told him with worry. Lee Seng dropped from the safety of the bubble towards the ground. He landed and readied himself, again.
"What's wrong?"
"That lizard might be more of a threat to us than Lee Seng realizes."
"Shouldn't we tell him to flee then?" Ritsuka pulled away from Keng. Angerfang disappeared and Obsidian Glass pulled out of the shadow beneath him.
'What're you doing?' Keng telepathically asked Lee Seng. Lee Seng ignored Keng. He could feel the difference in his Dark Matter energy. It was thicker, but his gravity powers didn't pack the usual punch.
"I did one Dark Matter gravity-infused strike and it barely did anything to that lizard." Lee Seng muttered to himself. He didn't need Keng to hear what he was thinking. He knew two ways of not letting Keng in on what he was thinking. One, to simply speak aloud. Two, pulling the mental connection between them. He had done the second one a couple of times and Keng would become suspicious, so he rarely did it.
The lizard rushed forward and Lee Seng prepared himself for another strike.
"Black Void: Scattered Ashes." Ritsuka flew forward and black slashes flew straight into the side of the lizard. The strikes bounced off of the lizard as it continued forward. Lee Seng slashed another strike at the lizard, watching another shallow dent go into the lizard. Lee Seng dodged out of the way, barely dodging the head swing.
Tails lashed out and snatched Lee Seng and Ritsuka, pulling them both backwards.
"No choice! Run!" Keng shouted. The three turned and started deeper into the forest as the bone scaled lizard turned and started to follow them. Lee Seng sheathed the katana as void energy pulled around Ritsuka.
"That thing is too durable." Ritsuka shouted.
"My attacks barely made a cut." Lee Seng informed both of them.
"What do you mean by something's wrong with you?" Keng asked.
"I dunno. Something feels different today. The energy within my body feels really different. The thickness lightened up a lot. The immense amount of energy within my body also feels different too." Lee Seng told both of them. "It's like the muddy waters suddenly cleared of mud and became actual water."
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Ritsuka asked.
"I dunno! We'll continue running! You two lead the way!"
They followed the path, slowly curving as the lizard began to destroy everything in its path. The three boys managed to keep, slightly, ahead of the lizard, but it was slowly gaining speed on them.
"The rocky ascend is coming up!" Keng shouted. "Get ready to jump a lot! Maybe we'll lose it there!" Large rocks stacked in front of him. They quickly grew larger and led somewhere Lee Seng couldn't see. The lizard shrieked behind them. It was gaining on them. Lee Seng looked behind him. The lizard slid forward and its neck began to bunch together.
"Shit it's doing something!" Lee seng shouted. The lizard leapt forward, spraying a purple fog straight for the boys. The boys all leapt away from the spot. Keng and Ritsuka managed to land on the rocks, barely missing the fog while Lee Seng moved off to the right.
"Crap, it separated us!" Ritsuka shouted. "We need to distract it so Lee Seng can get away!"
"Ugh," Keng raised his hand straight for the large Lizard. The lizard slammed into the ground, shaking the ground. "How hard is its plating?" Gravity shot out of his hand and flew straight for the lizard. Keng watched as the gravity had no effect.
"At least we have something you guys can't one shot!" Ritsuka grinned.
"Is this the time to be saying that?" Keng retorted. Fox fires shot straight for the lizard. The small wisps dissipated in an instant as it connected with the lizard. The lizard swung its tail straight for Keng and Ritsuka. The two split from each other as the large boulder they were standing on shattered into pieces.
"Gravity strikes don't seem to work well. What should I do?" Lee Seng muttered. Ritsuka landed off to Lee Seng's right while Keng landed behind the lizard. "Look for any spots where there isn't thick plating." Lee Seng shouted.
"Got it." Ritsuka shouted.
"What're you gonna do?!?" Keng shouted. The lizard was moving its head around. It seemed aware of them. Lee Seng darted to the left. The lizard let out another spray of purple fog straight for Lee Seng. Lee Seng swiped his hand upwards and watched as the fog split. He covered his nose with the other hand.
The three boys dodged the attacks from the lizard while looking for openings. The tail whipped past Keng as he slid and bent himself backwards. He slid straight towards the lizard, watching the tail quickly redirect and slam downwards. Keng's body shifted into a Fox, narrowly dodging out of the slam. He popped back into his human form and looked at the clothes.
"They really did enchant these ones." Out of the corner of Keng's eyes, he noticed the belly was fairly empty of any plating.
'The belly.' Keng telepathically told Lee Seng. Lee Seng slashed at the fog as it continued to go at him. He slid off to the left of the lizard as it turned and swung its head into the direction of Ritsuka while whipping its tail at Keng.
"The belly!" Lee Seng shouted.
"G-got it!" Ritsuka dropped into the large tentacle of the void beneath him. The lizard's head slammed into the ground, sending earth flying everywhere.
'That was close.' Ritsuka thought as he watched the shadows above him. The lizard pulled and swung its tail, shattering another rock as Keng dodged and moved over towards Lee Seng. Ritsuka popped out of the void shadow and made his way over to the two, dodging the fog attacks as the lizard rushed over to the group.
"Who's going to do it though?" Keng asked. Lee Seng rushed forward with his katana out. Ritsuka yelped as he jumped as Lee Seng dropped and slid on his knees.
"This is crazy!" Ritsuka shouted. Lee Seng slid and watched as the lizard came over him. With his right hand he shoved a gravity blast straight at its belly.
The lizard's downward momentum abruptly ended and he flew upwards. It began to shriek in fear.
"NOW!" Lee Seng shouted. Fox fire wisps flew straight into Keng's arms as he rushed forward. Ritsuka turned and dashed forward. The two rushed straight for the lizard as its stubby legs flailed in the air.
"Ignition Horizon!" Keng slashed upwards at the lizard. Flames erupted out of his fingers in an X. Obsidian Glass vanished as Ritsuka jumped in the air. Angerfang appeared in his hands as she swiped upwards. Flames flew straight into the lizard while Angerfang sunk itself into the lizard, tearing a large wound. Blood splattered onto the boys as Lee Seng quickly got onto his feet and thrusted his right hand at the lizard.
The lizard spun forwards and landed on its back behind Keng. Blood poured out of the stomach as the lizard began to flip itself. Lee Seng disappeared from his spot and appeared above the lizard. He spun forward, slashing and releasing flames and gravity straight for the stomach. The lizard screamed in pain.
Lee Seng began to freefall. He reached out and tried to pull himself over to the tree when a thin Dark Matter string shot out of his right hand and imbedded itself onto the tree. He pulled and watched as the Dark Matter began to pull him forward, slamming into the tree.
"Argh!" Lee Seng immediately fell straight to the ground with a loud thud as the lizard continued to cry. "Oh my god… That hurt."
"Is that thing dead?" Ritsuka asked.
"Lee!" Keng rushed over to Lee Seng. Lee Seng coughed, trying to pull air into his lungs while the lizard screamed in pain. Ritsuka moved over and twirled the scythe.
"Red Lower Crescent." Ritsuka muttered. Angerfang's blade grew bright red as he slashed downwards. He watched as Angerfang easily sunk into the exposed neck, slicing it halfway deep, hitting the heavy bone plating. The lizard immediately stopped moving and squealing.
"You okay?" Keng stood over Lee Seng. He grabbed Lee Seng, lifting him up into a sitting position while Lee Seng continued to cough. "Why didn't you use your gravity powers to suspend yourself?"
"I–"
Cough. Cough.
"I couldn't." Lee Seng answered. He looked up at the small black Dark Matter string. It was attached to the tree. Lee Seng sucked in a large breath of air and continued to let out the last bits of his coughs. "Did we… Kill it?"
"It's dead!" Ritsuka shouted. He rested Angerfang on his shoulder and turned to face the lookalikes.
"Why did we even try to fight it? That thing deflected the gravity blasts like nothing!" Keng pointed at the lizard.
"It would've destroyed the way up if we didn't deal wih it." Lee Seng sucked in a couple more breaths, noticing his coughs were disappearing. He stood up and grabbed the Dark Matter string with his left hand and tugged. He watched it snap back into his suit and shook his head.
"What're we gonna do with this large bony lizard?" Ritsuka pointed.
"Could salvage it for usable parts and see if it has any value in the Village." Lee Seng suggested.
